There aren't a whole lot of options in town for food, but the food at Tequila Johns is pretty good. Being one of the few places in town open past 7pm we ate there frequently and sampled a bit of everything off the menu and...the food is good and the prices are great. Unfortunately, the food takes forever and a day to get to the table. Not one trip here was shorter than an hour and a half with most being almost 2 hours. We went for lunch and dinner, and both were about the same speed for food to hit the table.More

Tequila Johns has great food. They have one of the best margaritas I’ve had. They prepare everything fresh and cook it fresh when you order. However, this does slow things down a bit when they cook it all fresh. It will take a little longer...to get your food as opposed to other local Mexican restaurants. The wait is definitely worth it. Give them a try.More

I have eaten a number of times at Tequila Johns. It is a family owned restaurant that is not your typical Mexican restaurant. I love the fajitas and the guacamole dip. It is a convenient, yummy stop for people going to the NWR Duck River...unit for birding and/or photography as it is one of the closest restaurants to the refuge.More

People: where can you get a great Rita, great guac, tacos and enchiladas and even a great salad (for those salad people) on a Sunday afternoon? You are missing out! Ya gotta go! Juan is fantastic and take the time to talk to him about...how Tequila Johns started and his family. Support this local restaurant! If not, there will be no Rita's on Sunday! We stopped in after hours of outdoor play and we were welcomed with open arms, treated like royalty and this Rita's are to die for! Just GO!More

Wanted to check this place out because a few people told me it was good food. Came in felt like we were being starred at. While we waited for the food, we were served chips and dip. Unfortunately I enjoyed the chips and dip till...I got closer to the bottom and there was a strand of hair in the dip. Had a hard time eating the main meal worried of a hair might be in it.More

I went here with a group of buddies after fishing a tournament on KY Lake and it was some of the worst service EVER. It took us 45 mins just to get chips and salsa yet our waitress was quick to ask if we wanted...more beer. The chips arrived cold, I'm thinking someone went to the local Wal-Mart to purchase them. After an hour and 15 mins our food finally arrived some guys didn't even get what they ordered yet we had waited so long we didn't have time to send it back. We were just ready to leave. ANY Mexican restaurant I've ever been to you typically receive your food in about 30 mins at most. Not here. I'd avoid at all costs. To make matters worst there weren't but maybe 6 other people in the restaurant. So it's not like they were extremely busy either. I'd have sympathy for them if they was the case but unfortunately it was not.More

I love this place but make sure you have plenty of time to dine because everything is made from scratch and it takes some time. The margaritas are awesome.

Not what I expected from a small town Mexican restaurant. Seems like they are focusing on microbrew beers and fancier drink options instead of simple quality Mexican food. Stick to the basics and favorites, no need to reinvent good food.

hubby and I went for supper, once I saw the salsa I did not have high hopes. the complimentary stale chips and roasted, charred yucky salsa and a strawberry margarita that did not taste strawberry but very nice tequila. my chicken quesadilla was quite good....more of a charred chicken and a smoky bbq sauce(good) and hubbys brisket burrito. we will go back but not when craving Mexican. they also have burgers and vegetarian options.More
