About
Athens serving you traditional Greek and American cuisine that’s good enough to receive your Greek grandmother’s blessing and satisfy American appetites. Our meals are prepared with fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. Try one of the daily lunch or dinner specials with a cup of our famous avgolemono soup. Voted Nashville’s number one breakfast restaurant, we’re sure our selections will make you want to throw your empty plate on the floor and yell Opa! As much as the owners appreciate your support, they would rather you order seconds than charge you for broken plates. Did we mention that Guy Fieri, host of the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-In’s and Dives paid us a visit? It’s true. Check

When Athens was on 8th Ave (Franklin Pike) we drove by many times but never ate there. Our friends had been telling us they had great pancakes, so it was on our list. We read that they moved over to Belmont Ave so we decided...to go. We were hoping for a nice, new restaurant, not sure what it was before Athens moved here, but it couldn't have been good. We found an old, rundown place, so not appealing at all. We asked because it was so warm and were told the A/C was broken. Our table was leveled with some shredded looking paper napkins. So right away I wasn't so pleased. The space is very large which surprised us. Atmosphere doesn't have to be great in a place like this, but we expected it to be inviting and clean. The pancakes were good, however I hate those little plastic containers of butter. My husband said his omelet was fine. We didn't have coffee because it was so warm in there. Not sure we will return, they could have done a little renovation to make their new location nice, and appealing, but they didn't.More

The restaurant was featured on Diners, drive in and dives. We visited during COVID, but the restaurant was filled with friendly locals. We ordered two of the specials that were featured on triple D, both were delicious. The lamb meatballs were a little dry. I...think a bit more sauce would have done the trick. A fun place to eat.More

Everything is cooked to order and the staff works hard to make sure you are happy. GREAT bacon, omelets, pancakes and eggs. My daughter loved the spanakopita! Highly recommended local, family run restaurant.

I asked for lamb shank and the lamb looked and tasted old. The fish was very salty. I got sick for two days.

Excellent Breakfast I took my car to Firestone across the street and Athens Family Restaurant was recommended to me for breakfast. I had a great server in Shannon and her recommendations from the menu were perfect. I went with Athenian omelette. You choose 5 items...to sit on top of their potatoes and top it off with 2 eggs of your choice. I passed on the bread and had a fruit bowl.More

My husband and I got great service from our server Bobbi. She answered every question regarding the menu and made short conversation all in one. We came in at a busy time but didn’t mind once so ever cause she was on top of making...sure we was taking care of. Ask for Bobbi when you go and I recommend the kotipita(maybe misspelled lol) great with the veggies but start with that amazing soup!!More

Stopped in for lunch. Had to wait 10 minutes or so to be seated. Got our drinks ordered fairly quickly. Lots of variety and options on the menu. My gyro salad was good, but I've had much better in Colorado. They didn't include some of...the vegetables I'm used to seeing on the salad. I had to ask for vinegar, it should be on all the tables. It wasn't a bad meal by any means, just not quite as good as some others. Stop in, your experience may be different. My meal was just over $17 with a tip.More

We don't have a lot of Greek restaurants in the boondocks where we live, so this was a special treat. The wife ordered an omelet which was huge! We both could have have made a meal of it. The Greek grilled chicken was very good...also.More

It's more of a diner than restaurant. The place could use some love. The chairs were ripping and the paint was chipping but the food was good. I ordered the kotopita which was delicious! Like a chicken pot pie with a little feta wrapped in...phyllo. It was great! The side I ordered was spanakorizo(spinach rice in tomato sauce) was good but not that hot. Along with that was a cup of avgolemono soup. It was pretty good, not like my grandmothers. Also on the menu were traditional greek foods, pastitsio, gyro as well as burgers and common diner foods. The restaurant was pretty busy with a lot of take out orders. It could use some work but the food was tasty.More
