The chef tasting experience (show kitchen seats) was fantastic. Our chef Wyatt was personable and our whole group (another couple and a solo diner) were all sharing stories by the end of the night. Flavors were spectacular and the wine tasting (additional fee) was perfectly paired.

Great for a date night, anniversary, or a good time with foodies. The chef will break down each course, preparing your pallet for the experience on a comprehensive level. The meal will be a sensational connection between you as a consumer and the chef as a creator. Would recommend. My boys brought me here for my bachelor weekend, this was surely the highlight. While in the middle of writing this review, Chef Anthony toasted a free tequila shot with me, wishing me the best on my nuptials. Thank you chef.

A fantastic restaurant in Music Row. We made an early evening reservation on Sunday and it was dang near private dinning with personal attention from Jess, Megan, and Adam that was beyond our expectations. The service from arrival until we left was outstanding. The food was great and the Dave Grohl signature cocktail was of so delicious. We will definitely go back when we return to Nashville.

Our table of six did the tasting menu with wine and were all disappointed. We had five bites of protien Each bite was well done but for the price paid we expected to have something with the five bites. The tuna was one piece of seared tuna that was one inch long and halk inch thick. The pork belly was a one inch cube. The alligator was two small bites. They could have included a green bean or some accompaniment for the 1000 dollar meal. We left and at hotel ordered burgers The wine pairings the server did not advise why the pairing was chosen no tasting notes just a one ounce pour. Do not do tastings and just order wine. Do not recommend.

We were looking forward to ordering the Chef Tasting Menu but saw that there were no substitutions allowed in the set menu on the board. Two of the first five tasting items we don’t consume so that ruled out what we came for. We both don’t eat anything raw or eat swordfish anymore due to the high mercury content. With no substitutions, we ordered off of a small menu for other dinner choices offered. We have dined at various other venues in our travels and when it’s offered, do order the tasting menu and accompanying wines. We were disappointed but understand each business has their own rules. I decided to start with a dirty martini and always like mine with blue cheese olives. They only had regular olives which I don’t prefer, so went to a wine instead. The wine choice was very good. I ordered the salmon and my husband had the pork. He is very easy to please in general when it comes to food and also loves complex tastes that work well together, but didn’t care for his dish. I’m enclosing a photo of it and imo, the plated presentation did not look very appetizing in itself. On a positive note, we were seated at the counter, which I requested for our 40th anniversary celebration, and enjoyed watching the cooking stations. While watching, I recognized the chef owner standing right next to me. She was talking for some time to a couple right next to us on on the adjacent corner about their upcoming move which I had read about when looking into reservations. They apparently knew each other and Chef also brought them some special dish for them to take home, which I thought was a nice gesture. We have found that most owners generally acknowledge dining patrons for coming in their place if the opportunity arises, she did not with us. Forgot to mention that we did order the bisque and Brussels sprouts for apps, which we found to be tasty. All in all, we are frequent diners out and just found the Chef and I to be an average, not exceptional experience.

10/10 would recommend. We went for my fiancé’s birthday and our anniversary. It was an unforgettable experience in the best way possible. Chef Eric, Chef Jim and Chef Blake were WONDERFUL, so I highly recommend a seat at the chef’s table if you can reserve it. I’ll definitely be back to have the duck, cauliflower app, and the sorbet—and everything else too. The experience was absolutely amazing, and we were stuffed!

We got the table in the kitchen. It was an amazing experience from beginning to end. All of the staff came to talk to our table at least once in the evening, to explain what we were eating or to offer a suggestion to make the dining experience that much better. The food was amazing, we didn't have one bad dish. The drinks were also delicious. I would 10/10 go back here.

What a wonderful experience! From the amazing valet to the last bite of dessert, this was a fantastic evening. We arrived for our reservation and were immediately shown to our table by the windows. The room is elegant but not intimidating. A horseshoe shaped, raised bar is already crowded with diners being entertained enjoying dinner. We ordered cocktails and began reviewing the menu. My husband ordered the shrimp and scallop bisque and the sirloin with green peppercorn sauce and I was happy to see crispy duck….I love duck but seldom see it anymore. We went with friends who opted to order several appetizers, like tapas. They ordered the bisque along with a salad, roast cauliflower and roasted Brussels sprouts. The soup arrived first and it was deliciously rich with a paprika oil floating on the top. Next was the salad. This was topped with dried cherries and pecans and dressed with a lovely, light vinaigrette. My duck was perfectly cooked, juicy and tender and my husbands steak was perfectly cooked to a medium rare ( and he is very picky). We all tasted the other dishes. The Brussels were shaved and quite good. The cauliflower was a lovely surprise…caramelized and finished with a creamy goat cheese. Wonderful. Dessert was also very good. Even though I was full, I finished every bite of my crème brûlée cheesecake. The only negative was the fact that they didn’t have my husband’s drink…Jack Daniel’s. And in Tennessee? Still, the evening was great. Dinner was amazing. Can’t wait to come back!

This was my first time visiting Chef & I, and it quickly became one my favorite restaurants in Nashville. My visit started with excellent valet service by Brook who was extremely welcoming and friendly. I was sat at the chefs counter downstairs and greeted by Chefs Eric and Arryn, and our wonderful server Addison. The cocktails and wine were very good. That was followed with exceptional brussel sprouts for the appetizer. For the entree, I shared the Pork Shank and Sirloin which were each superb. Chef Eric kindly provided a plate or Lumache which was in a delicious and creamy sauce. To end the night, we enjoyed the crème brûlée cheesecake which was very balanced and flavorful. Everyone couldn’t have been more kind, welcoming, and helpful. The food was amazing, but the people really made the experience what it was. Looking forward to becoming a regular here!

We ordered the 7 course tasting menu with wine pairing. It was wonderful! We sat on the first floor show kitchen and watched them make our courses. Our server Jess made sure our courses came at a slower pace so we could enjoy all of it. I loved the rock and roll theme and the music that played in the background. We will definitely go again.

Absolutely amazing food and service. We came here as our last stop while in Nashville and mix and matched between the 7 and 5 course tasting menus with wine pairings. Everything we ate and drank was incredible!!! Addison was our server and he is truly a gem!! The chef came and sat with us to check in and see what we thought about the food - so thoughtful! All of the dishes were inspired, fresh, & creative! I couldn’t recommend a meal that is more worth your time and money!!

My husband and I enjoy a good meal having been to Catbird Seat, Drusie & Darr, Tailor (2x), and Audrey (just to name a few) in the last 12 months so I was excited to try The Chef & I though reviews online seemed to be hit or miss. I would say the reviews that gave 2 stars out of 5 were more in line with our experience. We did the 5-course tasting menu + pairings, and there just wasn't anything that really wowed us. In fact, course 4 and 5 were not really very appetizing (the scallops and lamb). I overheard the couple next to us sharing their thoughts with the waiter when he asked how their meal was, and while the female patron was sorry to give her honest feedback that they didn't enjoy, I told her we felt the same to reaffirm that it wasn't just her. Considering we spent around $450, it was disappointing. I also felt the interior decor and vibe lacking; it could use a refresh. On the positive, we ordered the cauliflower and goat cheese appetizer and tiramisu which we did enjoy. The wine pairings were good as well; the pairings were a combination of red and white white with one bubbly. To end this review, I wanted to love, especially considering the price tag of our meal, but wouldn't recommend to others or come back.

We did a cooking class with Chef Matt, followed by a 5 course tasting menu and it was amazing! Matt is so down to earth and makes cooking easy to learn for anyone, no matter their experience level. This was the first cooking class my husband and I did but we will definitely be back for another! We followed our class with the 5 course chef's tasting menu and just WOW!! The food was phenomenal! Even the service was top notch. Jess took amazing care of us from being so inviting when we came in for our class, checking on us throughout the class, and then being our server for our tasting. This place is classy and relaxing. You won't feel out of place being a regular local like some places in Nashville have become. My husband and I can't stop bragging about our amazing experience. Thanks The Chef and I and amazing team! It was a great birthday experience.

Flew in from Florida for the night to celebrate my 40th birthday. This night was a BIG deal for me for many reasons. I wish we would have eaten at any other restaurant in Nashville. The Chef and I was not what we expected. Definitely not fancy or fine dining. It’s tiny and you sit at bar while the chefs cook. Which seems like it would be cool, but they don’t interact with you at all so it feels awkward. I think there was only one server in the whole restaurant, so it was hard to get his attention and he seemed annoyed anytime we talked or asked a question. This restaurant is very seafood and wild game type meat heavy- two things I don’t eat. Although I do eat chicken, they told me they don’t have any. Which is fine- I love flavor and can typically find something I’d like on just about any menu, I picked a pasta dish, asking for no shrimp in it. I then watched the chef cook the pasta dish in the same pan she had just used for a different pasta and shrimp dish. What if I had a shellfish allergy? The pasta was not at all what I expected. And I love spice and a bit of heat, but it was literally so spicy you couldn’t taste any flavor and taking a bite made me feel sick. Even though my husband told them we were there to celebrate my 40th birthday, they did nothing to make it special for me. I didn’t expect a band to jump out and sing to me, but at the very least they could have said “happy birthday”. On my 40th I didn’t even get a dessert or anything. I ended up having one glass of overpriced wine ($16 for a basic Pinot noir) and a few pieces of toast. Somehow we still ended up paying over $120 for two of us. Which that price is totally fine, but if we are paying that kind of money I expect to have a meal and for someone to tell me happy birthday. I left feeling very frustrated, hungry, upset and sad on a milestone birthday. If you are looking to sit at a small bar while being ignored and eating elk, this is your place. If you want an amazing meal, great service and to celebrate a special occasion, RUN to somewhere else!

I read some awful reviews of the tasting menus here, but we both chose the 7 course tasting menu with wine pairing anyway and absolutely loved it! It was nice to interact with the chefs and with other customers with the shared seating area. We also tried a few of their cocktails and they were fantastic! Ignore the negative comments. The prices are listed and having tried several tasting menus, my friend and I agree this was the most food we've ever had! For us it was 100% worth it!
