Have heard a lot of hype about this place so we were excited to go. It was pot roast day but boy were we disappointed. Neither of us finished it. It was so tough. And the 'homemade' pecan pie....well hard to believe it wasn't ready...made. Maybe some of you will have a better experience, but we're not going backMore

Never disappointed when eating at Wendell Smith’s. Always several choices of meat and vegetables cooked and seasoned perfectly. Plus, you can order off the menu. Reasonably priced.More

I was working in Dickson early in the morning. As I traveled back to Nashville I had time to stop for breakfast. I should have stuck to my normal stop but I heard good things about Wendell Smith's off Charlotte Pike. I ventured in and...immediately seated. The waitress provided friendly service. The coffee was excellent. My breakfast, however, was less than stellar. The eggs and potatoes were bland and lacked any taste at all. Salt and pepper helped very little. The gravy was pretty good but did little to help the hard, cold biscuits. The country ham was okay, nothing to brag about. After hearing all the good recommendations, I was greatly disappointed. Next time I will stick to the usual favorite restaurant for breakfast.More

The place is old, older than I am and I'm old. But, it has that way back in the 50's charm, even if worn down to the tabletops. The food is carefully home made with a changing menu of meat and side options daily. The...rotisserie chicken is really very good, as is the BLT, the fried fish. The roast beef, not so much if you re there in the later part of the day. Then you don't get slices, more like chips and pieces of beef at the bottom of the pan. The pecan pie is traditional and wonderful. The servings are modest in size, like we should be eating. The variety of meats, sandwiches and sides is large so there is something for everyone and for every taste. The people there are friendly and considering the menu options and prices you can see why it is a favorite stop for folks on their way home from work or just out for some home style cooking.More

I encourage everyone to try this restaurant. I had dinner a couple days ago and the food was wonderful. I had fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, and white beans. Oh yeah, I forgot the really fresh, hot and good corn bread. This restaurant has been...around a long time and I hope it will continue for generations to come.More

This is a small restaurant that has been around a very long time in Sylvan Park. Parking is easy in a free lot. Service is very good. It’s a bit dingy for me and the food seems bland. Lots of people seem to love it,...but definitely not my thing.More

The food here is incredible, and is True Nashville. Once you get pass the look and age of the building, which truest adds to the Character of the experience. As the saying goes “if it isn’t broke”. The food was pure “Yum”. The Roast Beef...sandwich is just delicious.More
