We were so excited to get dressed up and have a nice night out but I would choose to go elsewhere. The very average food and albeit good drinks are very pricy and the venue is just OK. The decor consists of lot of red...velvet curtains and bronze colored plastic panels meant to look like tin and lists of framed posters. However, the ladies room really was really cool. The table side Magic was the entertainment highlight and the magicians were good while the actual show was akin to a child’s birthday party.More

My husband and I were very excited to try out this experience for our anniversary. You can only make reservation seven days in advance so make sure you get those asap! The staff was amazing and very accommodating to my food allergies. I swear we...ordered and our food came out so fast but it was very fresh like it just finished cooking. The magicians that came by our table while we ate were good and the magic show at the end of the night was very good as well. Their terrace is very romantic and such a great place to hang out. A photographer will come by your table and take your photo as well. Such a great experience and we would definitely do it again!More

Came as a family on Sunday night for one son's birthday. We were told these were the best steaks in town, and since we compete in SCA steak competitions, we thought we'd see how the food was. I was underwhelmed by the decor and the...one display case of vintage magic items. It seemed one whole side of the restaurant was cordoned off with drapery and such like a kid's haunted house in a basement would be. We enjoyed the very brief visits to our table by two very good magicians. We enjoyed the 'magic' piano but it either couldn't hear half the time or ignored people half the time. Our table had 2 ribeyes and 1 porterhouse (special) along with mac n cheese and brussel sprouts. Steaks were tender and looked and smelled delicious but were absolutely overdone in salt. All we could taste was salt....and the onions and goat cheese we ordered on one. The sided were good but not worth the $8-$10 price on each. Drinks were also expensive. Service was good. Magic show after dinner was good but very short. We spent over $400 for 4 people to eat oversalted meat and see a little magic. That was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us as we won't do that again!More

My wife and I had a great time at House of Cards last night! My 16 ounce NY strip steak was excellent and the French onion soup is the best I’ve ever had! The bar selection is excellent. The nightly theatre show and the sleight-of-hand...magic performed right at your table is outstanding! This is an amazing restaurant and needs to be on your “must do” list during your Nashville visit!More

Definitely need to experience the table side magic, as well as the magic show. Good food, but the stars are the staff and magicians. True speakeasy decor makes it even more fun!

Being a native Nashvillian and a nerd for magic, I was very excited about the concept of House of Cards and had been wanting to go since opening. We got very lucky and got one of the last few reservation slots for Saturday. Ambiance was...very very cool. Service was phenomenal. Matt was very knowledgeable of the menu, very attentive to our needs, and his recommendations were stellar. It was almost like he knew me and what I would like. Table side magic was a fun interlude while waiting for the food. Frankie and Shadow were our entertainers for the evening, two very different styles but both very good. With the purchase of an entrée you get access to a 25 minute set, I believe his last name was Thomas? But he was amazing. Food and drink wise, we had the NY Strip and the Sea Bass. Both of these items were prepared flawlessly. We also had sides of Brussel Sprouts and Fries. No matter how hungry you think you are, only pick one if you're a group of 2. I felt bad for discarding as much as we did but they were great (especially the Brussel Sprouts). Their house Old Fashion was excellently served, one of the better OF's I've had. After our meal and show, Matt greeted us once more to show us the cigar selection, where I took his recommendation and it was perfect, and we were able to get another round of drinks before going to the patio where I enjoyed a smoke and we were able to finally take pictures of our night there. All in all, Joey (the GM) and his team were more than accommodating to us and we had about 7 people come up and wish us a happy anniversary which was nice. I can't tout this place enough. I can't wait to take all my friends and family there. Would absolutely recommend to go again.More

House of Cards is a fun dining experience. I appreciated the dress code. Nice to see everyone dressed up. Food was good. Service was good. Magic tricks at the table were awesome! The only thing that was negative about the whole experience was the doorman....We were there on Thursday 9/10. The doorman was just an ass. He acted like he was the doorman at some exclusive club and he got to pick who gets to come in. Buddy, we have reservations and we’re coming to have dinner, so relax. The person at the door should be welcoming and guiding. We had never been there before, he didn’t even guide us where to go. I’m in the hospitality industry. It really kills me when someone like that is the first person you experience when you come to a place that’s supposed to be a fun night out.More

Was alittle disappointed of this establishment not having a private dining seating area. We were moved from our first table due to being seated near a large LOUD group having a birthday party! Next table was decent, but was still seating near a large party....Just wasn’t as loud. -Steak was good! Green beans were uncooked. No taste to the food. -Seabass dinner was very pleasing, again apparatus was so hard. Potatoes were seasoned well. We inform our waitress that we were celebrating a birthday. Apparently she forgot. We ordered a dessert only to have another waiter bring us a slice of cheesecake w/a candle that was delicious. Magic shows at our table and end show were fabulous!More

Had a very enjoyable evening here with family. The ambience, the magic, and the food made for a special evening. The entrees were excellent. I had a filet which melted in your mouth. My wife had the vegan surf and turf which had a great...flavor. Our group also enjoyed the porkchop and Chilean sea bass. The desserts were all very good too. The sides were the only part of the menu I would rate as average - we had asparagus, 3 cheese macaroni and duck fat roasted rosemary fingerlings. None of these left us wanting more the way the entrees and dessert did. The table side magic was was very good and was a great lead in to the magic show after dinner. The service was excellent.More

We absolutely love this venue! The decor was reminiscent of a highly fashioned speakeasy! The magicians were awesome and the food was excellent. We were wondering if we were supposed to tip the magicians and then the photographer as well. We inquired of our waiter...and he said it was up to us that the magicians do not make money from the restaurant. Wow! We called our magicians over later and tipped them and one said it was his first tip of the night. Unbelievable That these talented guys actually make the experience so fun and yet they rely on tips and apparently a lot of people are not privy to that. I would rather the hostess inform us of that at the beginning or perhaps a nice little card on the table telling us to tip the magicians. I would not be offended by that at all but am quite embarrassed that we had to ask. House of Cards without the magicians would not the same so why not emphasize their importance by at least communicating that they work in tips! I would give a five if not for this.More

Jackets are provided free. You need to wear a collared button up dress shirt, pants (dark jeans are ok, but no faded jeans or jeans with holes) and leather shoes or boots. You’ll have a ball there!
