Pleasantly surprised by this venue. Didn't check out reviews prior to going but was impressed by the warm, welcoming feel of the venue. From the locals in the bar, the open fire places, to the very helpful wait staff it was a really great night. Hearty pub food, maybe a little over priced. Fantastic wine list. Went back there for... Popped in for dinner with friends during our recent stay in Trentham. Lovely decor and atmosphere, and food was quite good. Prices reasonable too.

The share plate of Saganaki for entree was great. My wife had the waygu steak which she loved and I had the beef cheeks which were so tender and flavoursome. Our desert of chocolate cake was bloody amazing. Great food and service.

Had heard great reports about The Cosmopolitan and thought we should check it out. We were not disappointed. If you're looking for a warm, country welcome, with great food, this pub is for you. Menu predominantly meat - we opted for the Chicken Pie. It was served with mashed potatoes and peas. Old fashioned meal made with fresh ingredients -... More

Visited for dinner on a Friday night. Freezing cold, raining and deserted outside, warm and comfy inside. The atmosphere was helped by the open fireplaces and old photos on the walls. Contrary to what others report, we found the service friendly and not slow considering how busy they were. The only downside is the front bar not being physically separated... More

Visited on a Sunday with a large group for a family birthday. We went on a cold winter's day - the was an open fire and lovely atmosphere. The food was of a high standard and well presented. Coffee was not great, scalding hot and very weak - tasted like very hot milk. This could be overlooked, however unfortunately the... More

Standard pub fare in a great setting. Frequented by locals during the week. A welcoming fire and a bottle of red, friendly service and good pub grub made for a lovely night in Trentham.

Great venue and food. Service very poor. Coffee was just too hard for them creating havoc at the coffee machine taking forever served way too hot and by a very agitated middle aged blond who should stay at home if she isn't interested in hosting.

The service was somewhat akin to Faulty Towers with staff not seeming to know what to do. Meal & drink service was slow. The food was the redeeming event - served hot, cooked well, and tasty. The last nasty surprise was the bill - $90 for a shared entree, 2 mains, 2 glasses house red - poor value. The boy... More

Tucked away in a small corner of Trentham which seems to be the corner of the universe where all special things begin is the Cosmopolitan hotel. The soft interior lighting of the hotel as you approach lures you closer. Entering has your spirit set back to a time when this hotel was the mainstay for locals to meet after an... More
