After hiking around on Wilson's Promontory's many walking tracks we decided to reward ourselves with a special luncheon.Locals had told us about the great fish meals to be had at Port Albert - all fish being locally caught. The Wildfish restaurant being right on the wharf appealed to us.On entering,we were greeted by a cheerful, friendly waitress, who gave us a window... More

We stopped here recently for lunch with another couple. The service was excellent and our waitress was friendly and accommodating. The restaurant itself was well set out with beautiful views of the water. There was plenty of choices on the lunch menu with two of us having the calamari, one having the pasta and one having the burger. Overall the... More

The restaurant provided fine dining with excellent local seafood. The portions were small except for desert but the quality and taste were excellent.. Great restaurant on the waters edge

I had a spaghetti marina, which was drenched in butter. I found this really off putting, overpowering and cloying. Not sure why they wouldn't use white wine/olive oil/tomato for the sauce base. My husband had the flounder which was ok. It's a very pretty setting and I am sure other meals might have been nicer. The service was friendly. Would... More

We had a very good lunch here - calamari and chicken burger. Nice view, good service. They supposedly close at 2, but were happy to accommodate us at 2:25.

The welcome was warm and the waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and chatty (but not to the point of overdoing it). We opted for light lunches and my pita pizza with prawns, bocconcini and rocket was just the right size. I would have preferred some more prawns and rocket, but it was still tasty. Partner's calamari was tender but apparently a... More

2 meals - King George Whiting and spaghetti with mussels. Both wonderful and well presented. Watching the fisher folk out the window was also fun. Happy helpful staff. Seemed quite popular with the locals, which is always a positive indicator.

Thank Varietal

Making its home in the picturesque little fishing village of Port Albert, 'Wildfish' is South Gippsland's premier waterfront restaurant. With a simple philosophy of producing the freshest local seafood caught by local fishermen 'Wildfish' is much welcomed in the food and wine circles of Gippsland. Occupying the site of the old fishermen's co-op, diners are likely to see the fresh seafood on the menu being unloaded from the fishing boats on the wharf at the front of the restaurant. Port Albert is such a special place, with rich maritime history, beautiful natural scenery and surrounded by some of the countries best National Parks. A picturesque two and a half hour drive from Melbourne and you're already relaxed.
