Staying in Sassafras on a little getaway, we decided to book into the tea house for our Valentines dinner not really knowing what to expect. Unfortunately we went there with no appetite as we had a late lunch, but as soon as we arrived, the...beautiful gardens and scenery excited us - it wasn’t until we entered the restaurant we were suddenly hungry. The smell coming from the kitchen was absolutely sensational. The food was just beautiful. The flavours were so authentic and even with a full belly we didn’t leave feeling ill like we needed to go sleep our food hangover off. For Valentine’s Day they had a guest violinist, he was superb and his music was perfect. The staff were also friendly and pleasant. We don’t leave feedback as often as we should considering the amount of places we visit, but we can’t pass this opportunity up. We will be back and spreading the word! Thank you.More

We ordered a takeaway tonight, it was recommended to us. We were charged and given three portions of a very dry chilli dish, that we didn’t ask for. We understand during covid it has been difficult for everyone, but it’s a lot of money.

We went there for the first time for my birthday. I very rarely eat meat, however I decided to go with a meal with eye fillet. Unfortunately it was so chewy that I couldn't eat it. It came with a bird's nest, but once again...very, very disappointing as it was stale and hardMore

Don't think actual 'tea house' in the typical way as this is a restaurant and the term 'Tea House' is based on Japanese dining establishments. This is so much more than a place to get beautiful tea, though that's part of their offering; afternoon 'tea'...with all the accoutrements. We dined there for dinner and it was lovely; the menu offerings are select and bespoke. The presentation was great; the flavors wonderful. They could do more with the ambience inside the restaurant; and we felt they didn't guide us on how much to order, so we ended up with a meal for 4, when there were only 2 of us. But all in all, a lovely experience and good food.More

I have visited Olinda Tea House more times than I can count on my fingers, and every time is sensational. Food is fresh, presented beautifully, flavour is 10/10 and actually have to stop myself from eating! Highly recommend the high tea!

We were really excited about taking Mum here for Mother’s Day, having to book for a $78p/h banquet and pay $100 deposit we were expecting Modern Chinese fine dining in a lovely setting in Olinda. The gardens out the front are gorgeous but barely visible...at night. The restaurant by contrast is like a function hall and very brightly lit. As part of the banquet we could pick one entree and main each. The entrees were pretty much frozen spring rolls and dumplings, and 1 tiny San Choy Bao. Not really made for sharing. The mains were better but nothing beyond a good Chinese takeaway. The deserts were mass produced mouse which were very dry/flavorless. One of the waiters Siobhan was lovely, but the rest seemed very inexperienced. Sadly it was a pretty disappointing experience. Mum was still happy To spend time with her kids and the drive up to Olinda, but disappointed we spent so much money and we didn’t get the experience we wanted.More

My partner and I came here for a little anniversary outing and it was beyond lovely! They sat us on this cute rocking chair table set and from the beginning to end went above and beyond to make our time wonderful. We booked for the...high Tea and we were amazed at the quality and quantity of food you receive. We started out by choosing from a selection of Teas we had the peppermint and the Turkish delight Tea, both were lovely. We got served the savoury items first, which consisted of a pulled pork slider, avocado and egg sandwich and then a chorizo croquette. All of which were delightful. Then came out the masterpiece that is the sweet cakes they were amazing the talent creating all of them is incredible! We finished off with some scones which were equally fantastic as everything else. Suffice to say we were facing stuffed full by the end. It was the best high Tea for the price I have ever had! Would 100% recommend.More

Phoned to make an booking before 12 noon, a table for two and was told not need to book just arrive. We arrived and waited to be seated, 2 people in front of us were taken to their table and the waitress told us she...would be back to seat us, we waited and waited and were still waiting, the waitress did NOT come back, a waiter walked passed a few times and ignored us, a person at a serving counter looked up and muffled something behind her mask and then ignored us again. After waiting for almost 10 minutes we left, on leaving a party of people arrived and notice our dissatisfaction and we explained that we have been ignored by the numerous staff. This is an Asian restaurant and the patrons we saw seated were from Asian background and we were two Australians, we felt most unwelcomed at Olinda Tea Rooms. To be totally ignored could be seen as racist!More

Absolutely fantastic beautiful place and great service. Food was amazing 10/10 will definitely coming back regularly

On arrival we didn't get a welcome just a rushed come through, we were seated as a couple next to a screaming baby. We then waited 20 minutes for a glass of water and then had to search for a waiter to order and service...was very average and had to ask 3 waiters before we actually got one that took our order. Our food arrived, my husband couldn't eat his soup and my lemon chicken was the worst I have ever eaten. The nice part is the outside, beautiful surrounds and pretty area. Apart from that though we were really excited to come here and it was dissapointing. :(More

We came to celebrate an anniversary. The food was delicious, the setting is beautiful. The reason for the rating is that it is difficult to enjoy the cuisine if one is cold. It was a beautiful (chilly autumn) day, but the way the restaurant is...designed means that every time the front door is opened, a cold draft comes through. We asked to be moved and the staff kindly obliged. Our rating initially was going to be 2, but as we will be back for the food when the weather is warm, a 3 is more appropriate.More
