Giant steps (innocent bystander) was booked and confirmed for Sunday lunch. We arrived, parked in the carpark and were greeted upon arrival as staff were familiar with our booking despite the size of this contemporary, industrial style restaurant. We ate canapés and pizza and were happy to discuss the food while we ate as it was quite good. Coupled with... More

A sunny winters morning was too inviting for a drive through the Yarra Valley. I ended up in Healesville and decided to go to Innocent Bystander (Giant Steps restaurant). Located not far from the centre of Healesville, Innocent Bystander is a modern restaurant that is very inviting and family friendly. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a friendly waiter who... More

I enjoyed the feel of the place with a modern feel and low lighting. The staff were attentive and friendly. We had tapas for a starter with a cold cut of meat served with bread. I liked it, but there are probably better choices on the menu. The pizza was very tasty and a large serve. The pizza had a... More

Olives , Lamb Koftas, Ham Croquettes, Spicy pork sausage pizza. The tapas was bland ,lacking flavours and spice overall. The wood fired pizza was really nice, a little more pork would have been great. Poor lighting really let the place down and made it feel cold and gloomy. Some warm white lighting, and a bit of extra pink paint to... More

This is the second time we've dined here and again we were impressed - great variety of food for the whole family. Trendy location and wine tasting while waiting for our meals... What's not to love!

Ok, maybe low lighting is trendy, but this place was too dark and very noisy on the night we had dinner here. With tapas and wood-fired pizza on the menu, the only thing my kids wanted was margarita pizza. The pizza was very nice when it came, but we waited 20 minutes to order, then another 30 minutes for the... More

I had a friend in town from Sydney so we visited Tarrawarra gallery and then had lunch at Innocent Bystander (now officially called Giant Steps. Although we waited for 20 mins to get a table, the staff were very courteous and attentive and nothing was an issue. The food is designed to share so we had a salad, some fries... More

Apart from the wine (goes without saying), Innocent Bystander in Healsville serves up fabulous bread, food and coffee. We stopped in for a coffee and morning tea (muffins and donuts) on our way to Marysville for the day. Fresh bread, croissants etc and breakfast were being served around us which smelt amazing. Rather than stay in Marysville for lunch (hardly... More

Probably the last chance I'll get to visit before Giant Steps and Innocent Bystander split. We had a great tasting of Yarra Valley Pinot Noirs, with the Giant Steps wines being an absolute highlight. Food at Giant Steps is brilliant, huge tomahawk steaks and wood oven pizzas both delicious. Exciting times ahead for both wineries!
