This restaurant is located on the biggest boat dock I think I've ever seen and it was packed with people. Everyone was trying to get a meal after being on the lake all day. We had a 30 minute wait at about 8 pm. The...AC was out or order in the area we sat in. Very stuffy on a summer night. The waiter was swamped with tables, but he was in good spirits and did his best to take care of us. The ice machine was also broken. He had to have a runner go get ice from somewhere else on the dock. I ordered the fried catfish and shrimp combo platter. My wife had the barbecue plate. We also ordered a side of Smoked Potato Salad. The fish and shrimp were great as well as the pulled pork. Cole slaw was not good. Baked beans tasted like they were Bush's, out of a can. The smoked potato salad was actually good. The first bite took me by surprise, but the more I ate, the better it tasted. I recommend you try it. Maybe we'll try this place again after the vacationers have gone home...late August, early September maybe.More

My family was down for the 4th of July so we ate lunch here one day. I am sorry to say my lunch could use improvement. I had the shrimp taco salad & it consisted of lettece, 6 shrimp and a few pieces of tomato....I asked about the Salsa & the waitress bought me a dish of salsa> The menu said cheese also there was no cheese on this salad. My husband had the catfish sandwich & a side salad . His side salad had more toppings than my entree salad. I can not recommend. Service was slow... This was the day before the 4th at 2;00PM...More

The food was very very good. From the kids chicken tenders that I had. That’s me in the Flag shirt. To the steak my wife had. The potato salad is the best I have ever had. Made with smoked potatoes. Yum. The atmosphere was great....The server could have had a better attitude but her tip was 18% regardless of her performance due to our party being more than 6. I truly think this is a bad practice on any restaurant part. The staff has no motivation to do a great job when this is protocol. She was honestly just not good and unfriendly. I would and will go again I will however never use that server again.More

Great food. Great service. The best homemade barbecue sauce. There are three different types. All waitresses and bartenders were fantastic. A must do for dinner out on your first houseboat night.

We went for late dinner on a Monday night. It was within a half hour of their posted closing time but we did not get any indication that they were in a hurry to get us out of there. They were out of a few...entrees that we likely would have chosen, but we were very happy with our meals. The side salads were nice with a clever presentation. I had the sirloin which was superb, my husband and son had burgers and were very happy with them.More

Arrive by boat and by land is fun and perhaps worth the price of admission. Food was okay and price seems too high. My quesadilla was just fine but over-priced. The catfish was satisfactory and the waitress was efficient and friendly. Cola or tea was...$3.00. By all means go to the Sunset. Pay what is required; feed the turtles, ducks and carp.More

Want good food, great service, and the best view around. Stop into Pier 42 and you can have all that. The Catfish is the best around. So sit back have a cold one and enjoy the view.

I have been visiting Pier 42 for several years with my family while visiting Dale Hollow Lake. It used to be our favorite restaurant on the lake; however, our last visit was disappointing. The staff is always friendly and does a great job. The view...is great! But the food seems to have gone down hill. We started with spinach dip, which was good.I ordered potato salad, which they were out of. But my mom and I both ordered chicken strips, which used to be so much better. They used to seem hand breaded, but these were hard, dried out frozen things. We both also got green beans, which were honestly the worst I've ever had. They were not cooked, at all. It was like picking a green bean out of a garden and just eating it. Hopefully this was just a bad day and they will be back to their old food standards soon.More
