My family and i have been visiting this charming restaurant for many many years. Suitable for all ages and taste buds. A beautiful, quirky, olde worlde thatched roofed. We meet the whole family here on occasions. And the food is reasonably priced. Suit anyone's pocket. Always welcoming, comfortable and atmospheric. A real must.

Not all pubs/restaurants are open on Monday lunchtime so the Blue Anchor came to the rescue. Atmospheric very old thatched pub which we have been to before. Excellent choice of meals including a specials menu which suited our little group. Highly recommended.

A friend brought us here during our recent visit to Cardiff, We had spent the morning looking around St Fagans and he drove us to the pub, He had heard good things about the pub and we were not disappointed. The pub is quaint looking with its thatched roof and olde world interior. Be a great place to take visitors... More

I haven't been to the Blue Anchor in a very long time and had forgotten what a very special pub it is. A beautiful, quirky thatched Olde Worlde Inn with uneven flagstone floors, exposed beams, Inglenook fireplaces, twisty little 'castle tower' type stone staircases, doors & passageways that you have to duck to negotiate if you're over 5'5" and miscellaneous... There's something about this place that keeps on drawing us back. Wonderful thatched roofed pub with separate restaurant upstairs. Great selection of draft ales and guest beers, bar food great quality, open fire in winter, sun trap patio area in summer - no wonder we keep on coming back as it has it all! Definitely recommend.

This is probably the oldest pub most people will ever go in. The place is beautiful just watch your head on some of the low beams I managed to hit one. The food was very good but the ambience is superb.

We had dinner here on the first night of a Trafalgar coach tour in September 2016. It is a thatched roof village pub and we dined in an upper level dinning room. The meal and service was excellent. It is a place that I would enjoy returning to on a self guided visit to the area.

My wife and I had dined in this very quaint and interesting Pub in the past and so we decided to take some friends with us when we were recently in the area. We dined downstairs in the bar area and our friends were very impressed at how many little rooms there were. Although there was a slight delay in... More

The Blue Anchor Inn was one of the first pubs in South Wales to produce quality bar meals back in the 1980's. Since then we have gone from strength to strength, winning awards including the South Wales Food Pub of the year for four years,2013, 2011, 2008 and 2006. We are Egon Ronay recommended and are included in the Michelin Eating out in Pubs guide since 2007(the only South Wales entry in the guide), as well as the AA Pub Guide 2013, where we appear as Pick of the Pubs for the Vale of Glamorgan. As well as food who could forget real ales! we have always been a forerunner in the promotion of real ale in South Wales. We were the first winner of the CAMRA pub of the year award back in 1983 and we have maintained our position to the present day by being included in the current 2013 CAMRA Guide.
