I got the impression the place was just for local regulars, did not feel very welcome. Food was ok and service somewhat begrudging. As a few others have noted, not that clean, sticky residue on tables and you needed to wash your hands after handling the menu.

Thanks for your comments I respond respectively as follows: The impression you have of us being “just for locals” is completely wrong. Occasionally, local’s whinge about us being “just for visitors”. We do NOT discriminate between the two. We like you both!! I am very sorry that you did not feel welcome and surprised you found our service “begrudging”. However... More

I visited the stag on 16th July with friends, I went to the bar and every member of staff looked at me but ignored me and continued to serve others who came to the bar afterwards. The food I had was great and that's the reason for the 2 stars but the service and overall dining experience was absolutely terrible.... More

Mark The limited information you have given me about your visit to The Stag makes it difficult for me to respond with any depth of explanation. The information I would need would include time of day, description of staff members etc. You should not have been ignored at the bar and I do believe, on this occasion that your complaint... More

Booked in advance due to recommendations, clearly by the locals. On the phone we were enticed in by the staff's description of the wonderful dining restaurant.... Pool Room/next to the toilets. Upon sitting down our arms got stuck to the table, menu's were covered in vinegar and the music consisted of adeles hello track on constant repeat. After being ignored... More

Thanks for your review to which I respond respectively as follows: • We are a pub not a “wonderful dining restaurant”. Which I’m sure you would have realised from the previous comments and pictures on Trip Advisor. • Yes we have a pool room and toilets?? • I agree tables and menus should NOT be sticky!! Bar staff and waitresses... More

Visited Cemaes this week with family and was not at all impressed with the Stag Inn. The overall impression was this was a pub for locals not visitors. The service was poor and the food was not good at all. Reviews had said this was the place to eat in Cemaes this was definitely NOT the case. The Harbour restaurant... More

Thanks for your opinions which I answer respectively as follows: • We have fairly even mix of clientele consisting of locals, visitors and contractors. This can vary from day to day but we cater for all. • Your limited use of language i.e. “the service was poor” and “the food was not good at all” offers nothing in terms of... More

Had a really nice dinner here, the Angelsey beef pie was fantastic. Good atmosphere and if the weather was fine there was a deck to sit on and enjoy the view. Recommended.

Hi Jg Thanks for your comment and recommendation. The Anglesey Beef and Ale Pie and a pint of Boon Doggle is a perfect combination. I hope you can return soon to enjoy the balcony in better weather. Thanks again Keith More

Traditional menu and selection of sandwiches. Haddock and chips was freshly cooked with proper, crispy chips. Dogs are welcome in the bar to the right of the front door and welcomed with a bowl of water. If approaching from Amlwch need to park in the car park on the right as parking is at a premium. Value for money and... More

Hi Old Duck Harlow Glad you enjoyed the Haddock and Chips. And yes all freshly cooked. This is also very popluar as a takeaway for visitors walking down to the beach or harbour. Hope you make it back here soon. Thanks Keith More

We visited The Stag during our stay in Cemaes Bay but couldn't drink up quick enough - sadly the language in the bar was too atrocious for us and whilst my OH said that he could swear with the best of them, even he found it too much.

As you can see from previous reviews we do have an excellent reputation. However like any other public establishment we do get the odd negative review! They might not like the decor of the pub or may not be able to get the immediate attention of a member of staff. For whatever reason (and like you) they do not criticise... More

Love this pub when we stay in Cemaes Bay a few times a year. The manager is a hoot and no slouch on the guitar either, try and get there when the local guitar group get in to practice and listen to ace music for free ! Everyone's friendly whether you choose the slightly busier pool bar area or the... More

Hi Luvsbatz Glad you like The Stag. Yeah the music is an ongoing adhok thing. Musicians regularly show up with guitars, fiddles, sqeeze boxes etc. We also have an open mic night last thursday of the month when anyone can bring a instrument and play along with the legendry "Coffin Dodgers" :-). Bad start, our order was mixed up with another, but when the food arrived it was really great tasting, we ordered the Seafood Lasagna. Would definitely visit them again :-)
