We were staying across the street at the Peabody. Flying fish is a taste of southern and creole cuisine. It is a cafeteria. You order at the counter, get a beeper , find a table, and wait till beeper flashes. Then you go back to counter...and get your food. Portions are big. Food is spicy. Atmosphere is charming. Enjoyed it.More

I’ve eaten out for 5 days in a row and this is by far the very best meal I’ve had (and we went to a very pricey steakhouse in Nashville plus a high end place in Memphis)! I really enjoyed the grilled trout with veggies...and the beans and rice. My husband really liked his gator bites. Even their tea and lemonade were extra tasty with the wonderful crushed ice! Thanks to a stranger on my tour bus this morning who recommended it!More

Great "everything you can imagine" southern menu, carefully cooked & fun setting. Mudbugs (aka crawfish) were in and so tasty . Grilled grouper was perfectly cooked & served with squash (zucchini) & rice. Catfish grilled was flavorful. Fried snapper looked amazing.

The last tow time the Cocktail Sauce dispenser was not working and the sauce look bad. No Lemons cut and what was there look bad. They were our of Hus-Puppies!!!!! Bout bill were over $70.00 due to the oysters and drinks we ordered. The time...no Hush-puppies no compensation offered! Seems like every time we go lately we are there at the wrong time and menu items and condiment station nu-attended. PS: out of ice and had to wait for someone to fill the ice . We have a long history of going to the flying fish but are now starting to question with the cost to park weather it is worth the money!!!!More

We stopped in for lunch after watching the Duck March at the Peabody. Delicious Po Boy's and cocktails. I didn't realize I was getting the "big" margarita, but snagged a to-go cup for later. Friendly and helpful staff. Would gladly return if in Memphis again.

Good freshwater fish, casual atmosphere. Fun selection of canned and bottled beer. We did not try deserts.

We’ve been going to this place since the doors opened and never had an experience like this. My husband and I both work downtown and order at least once a week from Flying Fish Memphis. I order lunch at least every other week and get...the same thing for lunch. Salad with fried Oysters. In the last several months, the quality of the food has gone down immensely. Being that I order the same thing for dinner and so does my husband, when I got it home the fried oysters were wet, mushy, and doughy. You couldn’t even pick them up because the part that supposed to be fried was gooey and slipped out of your hands. I sent pictures and a video of the food to the young manager per her request. That was the manager per her She called me back and said that the general manager said that’s how they cook it. I’m sorry. I am a regular customer and never ever have I had wet doughy fried oysters on my salad or when I get the entrée. They’ve lost our business and quite a few other people’s business from what I understand. Obviously the general manager could care less about his customers and the quality of the food they put out. We will never go back and I will not ever tell people not to but I will say go at your own risk. The general manager is not accommodating and basically blew us off.More

Do you remember when the whole singing fish on a wall was thing? Imagine a place where its wall-to-wall of those fish and if you add in some seafood with a Cajun flair then you get the gist of the atmosphere you’re heading into. The...po’boys are simple with lettuce, tomato, your choice of seafood or gator on a french baguette with mayo or creole mustard. It’s simple and not over complicated which is exactly what it needs to be. Grilled fish with a flavorful beans and rice for a lighter option is another alternative to those who are mindful of carbs. With its unique decor and plenty of seafood options you’ll have a hard time picking what to eat and then leave full wanting what you didn’t try. Kid friendly kids menu $$More

This is clearly a very busy place and attention to detail was lacking. It was a long wait and we could hear staff shouting that there were only 3 cooks on duty. Keep that chat private. Whole tilapia can only be fried, not grilled? The...fish was slightly pink in the middle. What's the deal with plastic cutlery? I wouldn't return.More

This place was absolutely disgusting. Everything is dirty. The floor has not been swept, much less mopped in a good long while. The tables are stained and most still had crumbs on them. Even the pictures on the walls has miscellaneous spatter on them. The...ceiling tiles are stained and one had some black scunge on it that definitely resembled mold. We had catfish and shrimp. The catfish was good, seemed fresh and nicely seasoned. The shrimp tasted like freezer burn. Definitely would not return. Place needs a gut job and copious amounts of bleach.More

I had been in Nashville and ate here before BUT this time was terrible. First the order was messed up, the shrimp tacos were nasty, the beans tasted spoiled, the gumbo was the worst I had ever had, the catfish was bad. We left 80%...of the food on the table. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.More
