Mostly stopped in for the music so can't comment on the food. Cocktails were served in plastic glasses which was disappointing. Blind Mississippi Morris and his group killed it. He's an original and can "suffer" the blues with the best. Toward the end of his last set he brought up two Chinese from Beijing and the guy who took over... More

Really expected more considering what I had heard. Catfish and ribs combo platter was pretty good, local beer was excellent. Service was very spotty, and slow. Overall, just marginal.

The food made this restaurant an enjoyable experience. Try the Best Deal on Beale platter or the Cajun flavored iron skillet shrimp. Both were excellent meals.

A while back my father had asked a rather fat cop where the best ribs in Memphis were. He recommended the Blues City Cafe and we have gone back every time we are in Memphis. This trip, we happened to go on a Monday when the band the Memphis 3 were playing. They were awesome! They encouraged crowd participation and... More

During the Blues & Jazz festival it was very busy, but we enjoyed the food and next door the music was fantastic. Would go again. Just love Beale Street

On a crowded friday night we got seated in a reasonable amount of time and got our food in a reasonable amount of time as well. Service was nice and our food was very good as well. Had the fried catfish which was crisp, hot and nice portion. It was 3 filets so my hubby and I shared it. My... More

Had the famous gumbo...it was tasty but not very hot..more like warm. Decided to give their "world famous ribs" a try. They seemed to be par-boiled and very blan. Upside was the band playing that night.

Excellent restaurant, good food and good service. I had pork BBQ and catfish, with red potatoes, slaw, and one other side. Beer choices were varied. The server was attentive and attractive. She offered me a sample of two dark beers. Excellent evening.

I ate here twice during my stay. My wife and I popped in for a light lunch. Wrong! She had the gumbo steak fries and I had ribs and fries. Both were exceptionally good. The ribs were saucy and meaty, her gumbo was--her word--outstanding. The steak fries were huge and well cooked. On our next trip I tried their catfish... More
