Most people don't realize that they have the best gumbo. It's a traditional gumbo made from scratch a must try if you like New Orleans style gumbo . Of course the ribs are good because it Memphis.

Had the gumbo - nice flavour, slightly spicy. Shrimp and ribs were good. No fine dinning, feels, smells, and looks like a no nonsense rib and seafood place. Worth stopping in...

I took coworkers on their first trip to Memphis so they could get a feel for barbecue, Beale Street, and the tourist scene. Blues City delivered. The service was great, albeit on a Monday night. The food came out fast and the waitress stopped by multiple times to see that we were enjoying it. Between the three of us we... More

Recommended by the Trolley driver we went for dinner in this cafe. Don't expect a great interior but the food was really good, so close your eyes and enjoy great appetizers and the best ribs we ever eat and so were the fries.

Located on a prominent Beale Street corner, the welcoming cafe serves "the best ribs in the world." I don't like ribs all that much but hey - this is Beale Street! They were fall-off-the-bone tender and flavorful. Excellent service, reasonably priced. A great Memphis experience.

Good service, great to take all the family to in the centre of Memphis. Chilli was delicious and ribs went down well too!

This was recommended by the hotel as the place to eat, the food was mazing, the ribs fell off the bone no need to cut, the fried shrimp had the best batter I have ever eaten. Service was great and the staff were so friendly.

Very disappointed with the service, practically none, had to get up and take our plates to the bar so we could get some room on the table to eat the next course. Staff were very dismissive and seemed to disappear. My husbands catfish tasted funny and later that night was violently ill. All in all not a good experience.

We ate here after walking around Beale St late Sunday night. There really aren't any other places open serving food around 11pm so we were very happy to find this place. What a great find! Didn't realize it's been on several food shows also. My husband had the rib dinner with side of greens and the spicy gumbo. I had... More

I must say I was a bit disappointed. This place was recommended by someone at the hotel and I wanted to venture out and get a "taste" of Memphis so I headed to Beale street.I walked into Blues City and the hostess was very friendly and seated me. After being seated I perused the menu and ended up ordering the... More
