We visited Blues City Cafe after a recommendation from a local bartender - definitely a mistake! My husband and I ordered the gumbo cheese loaded chips as recommended - a huge pile of very soggy chips arrived that would've fed 3 people! We put it down to experience and just mentioned to the waitress that we found it very sloppy... More

Great pork ribs cooked in view behind the counter area. Sides were OK, with beans in too much sauce and cole slaw lacking spark. Main eating area is cozy, with separate adjoining rooms with live music and another with a sports bar ambience. Beer list could be expanded. The restaurant is right on Beale Street, but don't confuse it with... More

Ribs were good but not great. Service was ok but they forgot 1/2 the order. I wouldn't make a special trip here. Average to average poor food & service.

We really enjoyed our meal here. The tamales were so good with the chili. I also loved the seafood gumbo. My son had a platter with barbecue and catfish and beans and fries which he enjoyed very much. The service is great with guys that look like band roadies. The music was awesome emanating from the adjacent bar. I was... More

We have eaten here often. The food is good. We love the hot apple pie and ice cream served piping hot in iron skillet. Barbeque and Hamburgers are good too. Service was fine.

This spot was great! High energy, family friendly, live music, and great food and service. We ordered seafood...catfish, shrimp, and gumbo. It was great. Would definitely recommend.

Great restaurant. I visit Everytime I visit Memphis. Great restaurant. It's worth the visit. Parking is horrible downtown. But it's worth the park around the block and walk. Def a part of Memphis history

Great food! I had the gumbo, excellent! My husband had the fried catfish and thought it was one of the best he has tasted. Cafeteria-type place, not fancy- but worth the visit

This place was crowded for good reason! the food was amazing- and they serve beer and wine. You can see the guys cooking and smell that sweet BBQ all the way down the street!! Would go back for sure! The service was great also!
