We were in Memphis 1 day and asked a dozen people to name their 3 favorite BBQ joints .. all had Central in their list. We dropped by for a late lunch and the food was tremendous. Covid era seating so we ate outside on...a patio since the weather was cooler (a few seats are inside with A/C). Ribs, chicken, potato salad, homemade potato chips, and baked beans were all awesome. Coleslaw should have been called just shaved cabbage- literally no sauce. Definitely worth the chatterMore

Had a late lunch here after an extremely sobering visit to the museum across the street. I don't eat mammals, which probably disqualifies me as a BBQ reviewer, but there is plenty of chicken and turkey available. Friendly folks. Lunch for two was $35.

We drove 10 hours to Memphis, Tennessee read the high reviews Central BBQ Resturant, so we thought we’d wait in line for the best food... the FOOD WAS AWEFUL ! Ribs had no flavor, the brisket was sliced in ribbons like Arby’s - no flavor...either, the sausage was a cheap greasy piece. We actually had to keep saying , “ you eat it, no you eat it. We had no choice but to eat it because we had paid for it , and after driving 10 hours from San Antonio, we were very hungry. The best thing there was the security and the bbq sauce.More

Delicious bbq. With all the bbq places in Memphis, how do you choose? Central has an awesome pulled pork sandwich and their ribs are amazing.

...they are fantastic!!! Before our trip to Memphis, I had researched our dining options. When I saw the bbq nachos at Central BBQ, this place went on the top of my list. We had a great dining experience- friendly staff, lively environment, and our food...was fresh and tasty!More

Sides had no flavor and lacked seasoning. Meat was good and sauces were good as well. Left me unsatisfied!

The Dry Spice wings are just awesome!! Served whole with a not too sweet, not too salty and not too spicy dry rub. The ribs are perfectly smoked with a dry rub with the perfect amount of sweet/salt/spice. Dip it in their sauce and it...is just perfect!!!More

Have been here twice before and never disappointed. It’s a bbq joint for good bbq. Not anything fancy, just good food. My wife loved the banana pudding.

Memphis BBQ is supposed to be great. I had done my research and selected Central to try. It is also really convenient to the National Civil Rights Museum -- just a few steps away. The atmosphere is great with lots of signage and an eclectic...feeling. I ordered the pork BBQ plate and it was really kind of blah. Granted I'm used to NC BBQ which has a vinegar base, but what I didn't like about the Central BBQ is that it was mushy. I prefer the chopped BBQ that you can really tell has been cooked over wood and has crispier bits in it. This was kind of soggy and even though I added sauce to it the flavor never really ramped up. Overall disappointed with the food.More

Had a very large meal here with the family. The wings are particularly awesome! They have a nice beer selection and wonderful BBQ!

We walked from our hotel but it seems there was plenty of parking near by. The museum is just across the street and would be closed at that time on a Sunday so that could work.
