The ambience in McEwen's tempts you to pull up a chair and stay a while. The restaurant is small, essentially two rooms, half a bar area with high top tables and the other side an intimate grouping of dinner tables with linens. The bar side has an exposed brick wall and dining room has tall windows so the restaurant feels... More

If you's in Memphis fo some traditional soul food, this ain't yo stop. Fact is they ain't serve no ribs o nuthin' like that on the menu. Stead, whatch'all got here is all manner of high end delicious food. Such as a perfectly prepared red snapper plate with green beans and yam mash, washed down with a Washington State claret.... I have eaten at McEwan’s on various business trips to the city with reliable results so I turned to it for our anniversary dinner on a trip to Memphis. Located right in the heart of downtown, McEwan’s is a mid-sized but nicely appointed restaurant. Not stuffy or overly formal with a wide range of dinner menu options to satisfy most... More

After cocktails on the roof top bar at our hotel, we came here and just had appetizers and a bottle of wine. Both of our servers were awesome and told us about local events and other restaurants in the area. We had the cheese plate and the brie...both were very good.

It had been several years since my last visit here, but the food was as good as I remembered. I had the grilled Atlantic salmon with spicy greens and mashed potatoes. It was delicious. We had to wait on our server for a while due to heavy lunch crowd. It was worth the wait.

We went here on a Saturday evening and all 4 of us enjoyed our meals. Two of us had the chilean sea bass, one had the scallops and the other had the pork chop. We started with the watermelon salad, the crab cakes and the heirloom tomato and homemade mozzarella salad. The last one was a bit light on the... More

After a few days in Memphis we had sampled enough comfort food and stodge, to sink a ship. Even we carnivore types were craving at least a few vegetables with our next supper. Since fine-dining is extremely reasonable within the city and it’s the best way to get a balanced meal – we settled on one of Memphis’ top recommendations,... More

Very nice dinner at McEwen's--compares favorably to restaurants in DC. Nice atmosphere, quality ingredients, and professional staff. Brought baby in--no problem. Started with the purple pea hummus, which was good. Sweet potato crusted catfish was delicious--served with a side of mac n' cheese. Grilled wild salmon was nicely done as well. Dessert and local beer selection was appetizing.

That is how I would describe the dish I had at McEwen's. First, the restaurant was packed on a Tuesday night. I was able to get a seat at the bar after a brief wait. Service was good, and I had my order in front of me in a very short while. But first, I was able to feast on... More

Nice restaurant, great food but last night the service was not great. 30 minutes between appetizer and entree was a little bit of a wait. The order was not complicated so we still don't know why it took so long. No apologies for the delay which would have been nice. Don't be put off, hopefully the service this time was... More
