Couples weekend in Memphis despite Covid - this was a winner winner BBQ dinner. Fried pickles were yummy. I’m a ribs snob after living in Texas - this seriously was the best rack I’ve had in years- perfect. Coleslaw and beans (both great). Wife had...chicken and that cane with different sides- potato salad. Live music was awesome! Try the specialty drinks!More
Sit down dinner in an actual dining room with live music during covid? What a pleasant surprise! We were so excited when we heard that the BB Kings Blues club had reopened right in time for our first visit to Memphis.
As tourists traveling with...teenage daughters, we were skeptical about visiting Beale Street in the evening. We are glad we did, we felt safe. There were a few boarded up businesses and an increased police presence. There was also a video being filmed in front of the club. We visited on a weeknight during the pandemic, so crowds were light. The club is located on the western end of the entertainment district. There was plenty of metered parking just a block away.
The host at the door was super friendly and immediately made us feel welcome. We paid a 5 dollar cover charge that was completely worth it. The house band was great. We were seated on the balcony and had an awesome view of the stage while still being socially distanced. The dance floor was closed but a few people danced right next to their chairs. As has been mentioned tables are spread out. Again, we felt comfortable with the arrangements.
The waitress was friendly and efficient and the food was delicious. Best BBQ we had during our trip through the South. Huge portions! Try the potato salad as a side, it was so tasty, I finished my kids' portions after I finished mine. I couldn't quit eating it.
Highly recommend, we almost felt like we had a "normal" evening out.More
I visit every time I am in town. This time the music was good as usual but the food was just not good. Neither my daughter or I finished our meal. It was not bad enough to come back next time. with everything going on,...I'll give em a pass this time.More
The Pandemic has closed most of Beale Street. Besides police presence, street was eerily deserted on Wednesday August 12. We were very surprised to find B. B. Kings not only open, but receiving sit down diners. We were seated on the second floor balcony overlloking...the stage. The tables were spread a good distance apart, the staff were all practicing and enforcing social distancing as well as cleaning responsibly. The live band which performed mostly R&B had us grooving in our seats, very talented musicians and singers. We enjoyed the catfish/shrimp platter, gumbo, we even enjoyed the cole slaw. Very happy to have found Establishment open. There was an attendent in the bathroom. It would good to carry some money to tip when using the facilities.More
