Had dinner in the Kingarth a number of times over several years. It's worth a visit (if you have a car or a lift there and back) for a straightforward meal, but phone ahead and reserve during the summer months. I quite like the booth style in the restaurant/ bar where four could sit and feel a sense of privacy.... More

We have eaten here regularly but recently we have been disappointed - the food and service have both taken a dip. On our last visit for Dinner the wine was simply plonked on the table unopened - no offer to try the wine. No drinking water was offered and no crusty bread and dipping oil either - whereas both have... More

We stopped here for a drink and wished we hadn't eaten earlier. The menu looks great and reasonably priced We sat outside which was very pleasant. You must check out the rabbits and the 110 year old tortoise.

Sunday dinner at the Kingarth Hotel Restaurant. I had the pork roast dinner; my dining partner had the seafood risotto. Both arrived hot and fresh. This is a convenient stopping point between Mount Stuart and the Kingarth Standing Stones or a drive through the Scottish countryside.

We noticed the hotel as we drove around the island and liked the look of it, we weren't disappointed, the place was packed when we turned up, but they managed to fit us in, friendly efficient service, good range of both food and drink options, all reasonably priced, well cooked and presented, this is one to definitely try if you're... The staff were very welcoming as soon as we walked into the bar. Nothing was to much trouble. We had mussels, prawns and salmon, to start with then fish for me and macaroni for the missus. Presentation and most of all they tasted great. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. They have a complementry minibus if 4 or more... More

Good meal choice, service and atmosphere. If you stay at Rothesay it is approx 8 miles away, but the journey is worth it!

We happened upon this hotel and restaurant on our way back into town after hiking our way up to see St. Blane"s. We were so thirsty, and hungry after our hike, we decided to stop and see what they had to offer. WOW were we surprised! Lovely, attentive staff, a beautiful atmosphere, and food like no other! What an oasis!... More

Visited here in June 2016 with my husband. We had been cycling all day and came across this pub. We had lunch and a couple of pints. The food was delicious definitely the best vege burger I have ever had. The staff were lovely the view was amazing. Would certainly recommend A+

A welcoming place with a well maintained exterior and gardens, unlike most pubs on Bute which appear as though they need some TLC. Staff friendly, welcoming and helpful and service prompt and efficient, even on a busy Saturday night. Food nothing out of the ordinary, but that said it was generally good, especially the sirloin steak. Mediterranean sausage casserole OK,... More
