This is the best fish supper I have ever had. So good to see the fish being cooked in front of you to order and not some fish that has sat, after being cooked, in a display cabinet drying out. I have never had such a thick piece of fish, they are normally thin. Great being able to sit looking... More

I wish all fish and chip shops were so good! Nice to sit in the sun by the putting green and share some goujons and chips. Lovely crisp batter and the most excellent chips.

THANK YOU. !! I am beginning to think that our semi-skin on chips are a bit like marmite...you either love them or hate them....so glad you enjoyed your meal!!! No cholesterol..(everything is cooked in rapeseed oil).. Add mushy peas and it's part of your five a day......high in fibre, protein and omega 3...fish and chips get bad press...but done right... Hello, If you have been in our little take-away you will have seen that everything is cooked to order in front of the customer (in the open kitchen). Because EVERYTHING is cooked to order there is no waste, no left-overs, nothing sitting around being kept warm.....and therefore nothing to reheat. If you have been to our little take-away you will... More

I heard all the stories about this fantastic take away fish and chips, and I've looked over the other written reports. So visiting Rothesay we thought we would have a take away. We live in Cyprus so we thought we had been missing out on Scottish fine fare. Its a small cooking area, with the packing area at right angles... More

Reviews as so subjective aren't they..... On the day I read your review of The Squat Lobster I took a look at the place in Paphos that you were enthusing about.....only to see that their latest review spoke of thin grey cod, and chips that were nothing to write home about....what interested me most about that particular review was that... Busy, small, take-away by the ferry port and the Pavilion. Everything is cooked fresh to order. Very generous portions of both fish and chips. Gluten-free options available (including falafel burger), fish batter is a water batter so is dairy-free too. Saw sausage cooked in with chips for another order so chips may not be strictly veggie.

Whilst visiting family in Rothesay, we had the opportunity of sampling the best fish and chips I have tasted in a very long time. We opted for haddock goujons, which were plump, juicy, and coated in the lightest, crispy batter. The chips were skin-on, crispy outside and fluffy inside, perfect! We did have to wait as the friendly young girl... More
