Booked for lunch after a friend's recommendation. The food, service and ambience were excellent. Beautiful background music in the dining room too. The lunch menu was good value for the quality of food - had black pudding (excellent flavours with apple), kedergree, lamb & ale pie, langoustines, cheese board. Some of the best food we had on the entire trip. We ended up spending several hours there - the whole lodge is beautiful to walk around. Would definitely recommend.

Dined here while on holiday to celebrate my partner's birthday. We were not staying at the hotel.
Staff were all friendly and unfussy, which made us feel very relaxed despite the grand appearance of the dining room.
Our food was delicious, we both had lobster to start. I really enjoyed my salmon and scallop main, and my partner loved his dish which I think was lamb. The coconut tart for dessert was good, and my partner enjoyed the cheese board. Portion sizes were spot on. The after dinner treats with coffee were a nice touch, as was having coffee in the lounge overlooking the beautiful grounds.
I only had one issue with the meal, which was that our wine wasn't that cold when it was brought to the table. Clearly there's not a bottle of every wine in the fridge at all times, but it was slightly disappointing given the high standards in the rest of the meal. Once it had cooled in the cooler (by glass 2!) it was delicious.

Finally got to try the delights of Kinloch! We booked to have our wedding evening meal at Kinloch Lodge almost two years ago. We had to move our wedding date 3 times due to covid 19 and were finally able to get married this week. Between booking and coming away for our trip, the reviews for Kinloch had changed quite significantly and we started to get quite anxious in the week leading up to the wedding, as there were several negative reviews as of late. Upon arrival we were given a very warm greeting, seated in a beautiful but relaxed dining room and presented complimentary drinks. The customer service was seamless from start to end. Both us and the dinners around us were given plenty of attention and the service was quick. The quality of food was really great. We had a butternut squash foam amuse bouche, followed by a brie cheesecake to start, monkfish and beef tenderloin for mains and then one chocolate and one fruit based dessert. We ordered a delicious bottle of Marlborough and were given the option to taste some other wines. Dinner was followed by coffee and petit fours and we were presented with another complimentary plate with best wishes and some beautiful dark chocolate covered strawberries. Overall the experience was fantastic. If you are looking for super high end fine dining then this may not be for you, but it certainly is very close. No small portions here - Mr Creosote eat your heart out!! All of the yummy food without the pretentiousness. Thanks for a very memorable meal!

We were really looking forward to our dinner at Kinloch Lodge and were quite excited since we had read good things. Unfortunately we were left really disappointed. 1) The food was nothing special, two of our dishes were extremely salty so much so that I couldn’t finish mine as it was just a salty paste. 2) 75 pounds for a set menu is quite expensive and you would expect a certain standard (we paid around 60-80 pounds every night in Scotland but in places that were 100% worth it - this unfortunately was not). 3) The waiters were not professional and the mood didn’t feel like a gourmet restaurant.

We had been looking forward to Kinloch Lodge as it was booked for the last night of our trip to Skye. We had to sit in one of their private dining rooms as we were a party of 8 which was not a problem. However, the overall experience left a lot to be desired and at £114pp with one person not drinking, it felt like a sharp price to pay.
There was little choice on a limited menu which didn't fully describe the dishes. I had the scallop starter which turned up with a thick layer of caramalised onions and a garlic/olive tomato type sauce, both of which were awfully overpowering (i could still taste them the next day). I followed with the rabbit and meatball which was completely different to the menu with a large round of marrow on it. The rabbit was cooked fine but marrow wasn't even warm, let alone cooked. The rest was under seasoned and bland.
Desert however was worst of all - lemon meringue pie. 2 shop bought meringues with a tasteless cream and some old fruit on top. No flavor of lemon at all. Other guests had MOLDY fruit on their panna cotta!?
Away from the food, the service was non existent. We were totally forgotten about in the private room and you could tell that the staff had little to no experience at all with waiting in what is supposed to be a fine establishment. Over all very lazy and frustrating.
Finally, the price. £114 per person with only 1 and a half bottles of wine and a few cocktails is unacceptable. £16 for a cocktail is a bit steep in London, let a lone Skye.
All in all, we'd had better meals (both food and service) in some lovely pubs in Scotland. I wouldn't return to Kinloch Lodge for any reason.

This meal was supposed to be a top quality final farewell to an 8 day tour of Scotland. It was booked on the basis that the restaurant had a great reputation for excellent food using fresh local ingredients. The food was average, at best.
Our group had a mix of duck rillettes and scallops to start. I had rillettes which were bland, the poached egg was cold, and it all lacked a lot of seasoning. It looked pretty but that was about all could be said. The scallop dish was completely overpowered by an onion tart and I was told it was very unpleasant.
My main of halibut was verging on over cooked and bland again. The cream veloute was nice, the fennel good, but again it was all cold and under seasoned. The double chocolate panna cotta had some nice components, but the main dark chocolate panna cotta wasn't that. It was a firm mouse. One of our party had mouldy "fresh Nairn raspberries". The Lemon Meringue tart contained no lemon, and the meringues were questionably not home made.
A lot of this could be excused if:
1. It wasn't as expensive as it was - the food did not justify £75pp at all; and
2. The service was acceptable.
The service wasn't just unacceptable, it was non-existent and diabolical. We had to pour our own wines after the first pour. Glasses weren't removed throughout the meal. We had to pass our own plates around the table. We were in a private room and were basically forgotten about. Very unprofessional and not what you would expect from the place given the price and reputation.
Finally, how the hotel thinks it can justify the price of drinks is beyond me. We had 1.5 bottles of nice, fairly priced wine, to be fair to KL. Other than that, the drinks prices were astronomical. London prices in a remote location (without the stunning view to match, from our tiny dining room). Ridiculous.
I won't ever return (despite wanting to get back to beautiful Skye asap), and I couldn't dream of recommending anyone to return here. Mr Tully needs to get a grip back on what I understand was once a lovely place to dine.

Disappointing: very overpriced with average service (not silver service all came plated) & poor choice
Our canapés were forgotten (we asked having seen other tables had been given them & got them after our
starters).
Placed drinks order …. Had to repeat to a different member of staff
Starter came 2 minutes after cocktails so asked to slow down main courses as hadn’t even poured glass of wine by then
Only one poor choice of bread
Beef cheeks were very dry
Hake nicely cooked but not special
No vegetables with fish (one strand of samphire)
2 teenagers chose soft drinks and cans brought to table& left to pour themselves
Cheeses served at good temperature but no one explained which was which & served with same bread rolls
Our view was of a fire escape
Would not recommend unless fixed price was closer to £40: we saved up as a treat & completely misrepresented what they provided
I’ve paid less for a Michelin starred meal

We had lunch as a family at Kinloch Lodge today on the last day of our holiday. The food was tasty but the waitress was very grumpy and very unhelpful. When you come to a lovely setting and pay good money it is not acceptable to encounter a rude, uninterested waitress - very disappointing.

We didn't stay overnight but came for an evening meal. The food was tasty - Scottish produce done well - but without flair and nowhere near worth the £75 for 3 courses. The drinks list was extensive, but again too expensive. These are prices on a par with a tasting menu in Edinburgh...
Service was friendly and enthusiastic, but not experienced. Didn't seem to know the menu well and weren't aware of the status of the table (when to check if you needed drinks, a rest before next course etc.). Which for the price should definitely be a given.
I'm summary, I'd be happy paying about half the price for the experience.

Initially wanted to go for dinner but it was booked up so we settled for lunch.
Had high expectations, which when entering the lodge you immediately get. Staff were friendly and jovial, not stuffy at all.
Although menu was limited there was enough for us.
2 of us shared the langoustines - very impressed with how fresh and succulent they were.
I had the kedgeree which was flavourless and a bit too much on the al dente side.
The other 2 ordered the steak and ale 'pie' - tasted like a standard pub version at best. I get the lid on top concept but basically it was a stew plonked into a smaller dish with tasteless puff pastry in top.
Of course we said everything was fine as one does when asked 😂
Average at best.

The place is beautiful, full of history. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
But.. we order kids pasta for our son and it cost £12.95 - for a boll of penne pasta with shop bought tomato sauce it a bit overpriced.

We had been looking forward to dinner at Kinloch Lodge for some time as had heard good reports. I don’t know if things have deteriorated since then as the food was nowhere near as good as expected. Having recently eaten in Restaurant Andrew Fairlie (expensive but excellent) and Bilson Eleven (same price for tasting menu which was exceptional)the 3 course menu (and coffee) is way overpriced at £75. The venison starter was nice, very nicely cooked but under seasoned. The hake main course was well cooked but all in all underwhelming. It was smothered in a buttery sauce which is not really my cup of tea. Dessert was a bog standard creme brûlée with a orange biscuit which didn’t taste of anything let alone orange. It was all quite a rushed affair with the staff setting up for the next morning as we were having coffee. There was nothing of note to complain about at the time. It’s just not worth the money. The one saving grace was the young serving staff who were delightful. The Lodge itself is impressive.

My friends have been raving about Kinloch Lodge on Skye since they had been there in 2018 and loved it so booked for birthday. No slots for a WHOLE YEAR on the website but funnily they had plenty spaces when I phoned them.
The place was half empty maybe becuse of covid and service was ok but the food was mediocer at best and bad value for money when charging us over £100 each with just 2 drinks. Sorry but wont be back

We had an amazing two nights at Kinloch, on both nights we ate at the restaurant. The first night, I had the beetroot with a truffle custard starter which was so different and something I wouldn’t normally pick but it was outstanding. My husband had duck and short rib of beef - both locally sourced and looked and tasted beautiful. My main was deliciously cooked hake. The petit fours afterwards were the cherry on the cake (I had to actually take mine home as I was so full). Our second night was just as good. I had venison carpaccio with figs which has to have been one of the most wonderful things I have ever tasted. My husband had the beef Wellington and as a farmer he loves his beef - he was not disappointed. The staff were charming and attentive. They looked after us and we were made to feel very at home. What we also loved was that it wasn’t stuffy, the restaurant was warm and friendly and the food outstanding.

We were really looking forward to having a meal here. My partner had been years ago and had thoroughly enjoyed so expectations were high! The location of the hotel is breathtaking unfortunately the food is far from that standard. For starters, We both ordered the langostine ravioli which was awful! It had no taste what so ever. For the mains I had the venison, I think the meat was rotten! It had a very old taste! My partner had the veggie option, nothing to exciting as it was just a big piece of cauliflower with some sauce. The only thing we enjoyed were the desserts! My partner had the pannacota and I had the arrincini. The staff were very nice, however not staff for £75 per person meal. In fact I would not even pay £20 for what we had! The Staff did not know much about the menu and we even got asked by a very young waiter if we wanted more bread whilst we were eating our dessert - quite funny actually! Unfortunately I will not be returning back! We were completely robbed!
