This is a self-service cafeteria but none the worse for that! Great fish and chips and friendly staff. The place has wonderful views across Portree Loch and you might catch a glimpse of a sea eagle. There is a good bookshop, a cinema and an exhibition (though I did not go round it on our last trip). If you are... More

We had a morning tea here and it was adequate for a cafeteria style. It looked like most of the meals were served with chips which was a worry - eg macaroni cheese with chips!!! But certainly clean and tidy and lots of space with cheerful staff.

only stopped here really because they had a St Kilda exhibition advertised, to which I have an avid interest, we went in and the exhibition had to be paid for no problem, but then there were no prices displayed, I waited at the reception to ask no one willing to attend, never did get to see it and never did... New menu looked good. However, the same sub standard food was served at over inflated prices. Staff look and act like they're serving food at a Wake. Staff at Reception look like they're guests at the same Wake. Female staff at Reception make you feel like you're inconveniencing them if you ask anything. Gift shop good and well stocked. If... While passing through Portree we stopped here to have lunch and do some shopping for gifts The gift shop has many interesting items.as well as a good variety of books and maps all reasonably priced. There is also a large lunch room offering a good variety of light meals again at reasonable prices. This facility also hosts live plays and... More

We visited on Tuesday to see Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham. A brilliant venue. There was a capacity crowd in the theatre and a great atmosphere. Support act was local young people who showed real potential. A good stocked bar and drinks were ready at the interval as we had pre ordered. A brilliant night out. Thank you

We are regular visitors to Aros. It has definitely gone downhill in the last year or two. The toilets are in need of refubishment, particularly the floorcovering. There was rainwater leaking through a light fitting in the shop - and obviously had been for some time. The shop in general seems to have gone downmarket. Our toasted sandwiches were made... More

Meals are generally of a good standard, however table service was a bit tardy as we experienced today. Perhaps they had a staff shortage but to see people who'd arrived after us receiving counter service for tea/cakes before our table service was irritating. The upside was a fine day and stunning view over Portree Bay.

Picked up a takeaway ham sandwich here. Very cheap, but lots of ham on, and wrapped in foil. There was an incredibly thick spread on the bread (no idea what it was). Didn't finish the sandwich, and had a dodgy stomach for the rest of the day. Think it was just due to the gunky thick spread. Such a shame,... More
