We had an evening meal here with our three children for my birthday dinner. The food was fantastic with a seafood twist. There is also a whisky menu and I had a lovely whisky for my Birthday treat!

Had a great lunch here over Easter weekend - great menu choices. My husband had the crab claws which he said were excellent!

WOW, I visited here on the 10th of April for dinner in the restaurant and was really amazed at the standard of food, and of the interior of the hotel. I never expected it to be such a high standard. I have absolutely no reservations about recommending the Islay hotel restaurant to everyone. The food was really good, and the... More

To start, the service was wonderful. The food was pretty delicious as well. We started with the Islay cracked crab claws which were yummy but only came with three (not really a sharing type of starter). My boyfriend had a burger which he stated was amazing. I had the macaroni and cheese with pork which was okay (not bad but... More

Great appetiser: olives marinated in Botanist gin and rustic bread with a cube of lovely "fudgey" salted butter - sounds strange but tastes heavenly! Then starters: melt-in-the-mouth scallops with cauliflower and poppyseed puree, and fishcakes with a curried mayonnaise. Main courses also did not disappoint: lovely tender guineafowl breast, and a fish pie, creamy and robustly flavoured (due to the... More

Quaint restaurant that overlooks the port of Port Ellen. The food is so good!! The fresh scallops...melted in my mouth like butter and so fresh! I'm still dreaming about them. They also had the best sticky toffee pudding of my entire vacation. They also have quite an extensive collection of whiskeys that even the distillers no longer offer. After all... More

Good range of beers from Guiness to Moretti and Amstel but did not have the local brewed Islay Ales on draught. This was the second local island hostelry that had the tap but out of local beer, something seems rather odd about this?

The freshest seafood! And they have quite an extensive whisky collection, though I didn't try any after a day of touring the distilleries.

We had a meal here in April 2017 - the menu had a good options for choices but the majority of our party felt our meals were poorly executed. For example the haddock and chips - the batter on the haddock needed just another minute to be fully cooked and the chips served with it were verging on cold. Another... More
