I ate three times at the Lochside hotel whilst in Bowmore. Once for luck and twice in the evening. The menu is varied and very reasonably priced. The portions were very good, although when ordering the salmon, one sprig of cauliflower & broccoli did disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed my meals and the staff were kind and friendly. My only gripe... More

travelled over on a small rib form Portballintrae Northern Ireland on Saturday past with a few friends. We where looking for somewhere to heat up and stumbled across this place, and turned out to be a real gem. Faye, Annie and Zoe kept us supplied in alcohol and local knowledge as regarding distillery tours etc...needless to say, it never happened,... More

Tried to go elsewhere. They were busy and recommended the lochside - and I'm glad they did. Great food. Staff were friendly and efficient. Beautiful views, beautiful location, great food and good value for money.

A decent hotel. Friendly staff and reasonably comfortable beds. TINY bathroom and my room was directly over the front door so the smell of cigarettes often waded in.

Brave the rather dowdy exterior and you enter a stylish reception area and are then led through to a large bar/restaurant area with superb views over Loch Indaal. i suspect food is microwaved, rather than cooked fresh, but it is excellent. Shepherd's pie and macaroni cheese were both excellent with decent side salad and very good chips ( an area... More

We are regular visitors to Islay and the Lochside is one of our favourite regular haunts. On our last visit earlier this year was for a family lunch with 3 children aged 14, 10 and 3 months. The service was friendly, as always, quick and the food was excellent. Unfortunately our baby suffers from severe reflux and after his milk... More

We had a great table with a wonderful view of the water. The food was only okay--I swear the seafood chowder was only potatoes and leeks with no seafood in it. Service was sincere, but not well trained.

Eight of us for dinner without a reservation, only had to wait a few minutes. Attentive servers but food took an incredibly long time to arrive. Great that they had a children's menu. Good food.
