went the for a family meal here last night after checking the place out the afternoon before. It's quite small in the restaurant so we wisely booked in advance. Quite a small menu but something for everyone, especially if your a fish lover like myself. Service was good, efficient friendly staff. The food was superb, even my fifteen year old... More

Went off with friends on a two day overnight trip to the West Coast and stayed over at this splendid hotel. We were put up in th "cottage", a two storey three bedroom house. although it had excellent self-catering facilities we ate in the hotel. All rooms were en suite and one of them had a jacuzzi bath and between... More

Dear Maureen P Delighted to hear that you enjoyed Matthews Cottage - it must boast one of the best views in Achiltibuie, overlooking the water and summer isles - especially when the sun is setting. It is very spacious, yet still cosy so it's very easy to feel at home there. The one track roads can be a bit of... More

Had a great meal with 8 friends. Service was good and the food quality above standard for a "pub" dinner. Highlight was, according to our "pudding" expert, the sticky toffee pudding. Would highly recommend.

It's a long trip on single track road to reach this hotel but it's well worth it. An amazing location with incredible views and a feeling of calm at the end of the world. The room was ok and the food in the restaurant excellent. We will go again

We just dropped in for light lunch but we had been here over 30 years before to stay at the hotel. It was good to see that even in the "new " bar none of the first class service has been changed. It was a delight to see so little has changed but tragic to see the smokehouse is gone,... More

Dear rabbitingon How lovely that you managed a return visit after so many years. Very happy to hear that you were pleased with what you found - a few changes which is always the way after so many years but kind of you to mention that the first class service remains the same.........and yes the grass roofed chalets are still... Had dinner in the bar. Friendly staff. Good variety of dishes on menu. Excellent fish & chips. Good house wines and good value for money. Also had coffee earlier in the day in the hotel itself. This too was a pleasant experience

As part of our north coast 500 drive we decided to give Ullapool a miss for lunch and instead strike out for this lovely hotel overlooking the sea and a favourite mooring spot of the Queen when they sailed Brittania around the Highlands. As it was such a lovely day we ate outside in the garden. The drive out reminded... More

We ate in the Restaurant as the final night of our holiday. The menu had a choice of three/four for each course and the food itself was lovely, especially the panna cotta with honeycomb praline. However, the service was appalling. They didn't say good evening, just "are you ready to order?" and because we were in a wee room off... More
