Reservations are generally required in advance, but we stopped by and was able to be seated without one since it was not full. Due to Covid-19 each party had their own table. The menu changes daily, but you do get to pick between 2 meats...and then 2-3 sides depending on what you order. You also get some type of bread/rolls, sweet or unsweetened tea,and have the option of getting dessert. On our visit, I had the roasted chicken with dressing and giblet gravy, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and creole green beans. Everything tasted great, particularly the mac and cheese. The hostess and everyone we encountered were very friendly. We also got a quick history lesson on the house and its ties to Jack Daniels, and was able to look in the gift shop and in the different rooms. This is definitely a must do if you are visiting Lynchburg.More

Definitely not relaxing or pleasant. At one point, after having the fourth person in 20 minutes, interrupt and ask how our lunch was my husband mentioned he was not fond of the boubon soaked apples and the lady smiled and responded “thats ok”. Very odd...and irritating. 😞More

We visited the distillery and as part of our tour we ate at Miss Mary Bobo's. It was a good experience. The history is interesting and even better is the Mission. They are a huge supporter of higher education for the youth in the area....The food was plated and served. Apparently pre covid it was served family style. It was delish. Fried chicken was awesome. The apples were whiskey soaked and delish. Fried okra was on point. The service was great I don't think I could have made any suggestions for improvement. The dessert today was fudge pie and it was so good.More

This is a great place to have lunch in Lynchburg. They give you a menu with the offerings for that day. You can pick your entree and add 2 or 3 sides for $13-14, OR you can try everything made for that day for $22.50....Why not? ;) It was all amazing. COVID has changed how they do things. You sit at your own table instead of eating family style with others, and there is no host at the table to tell you stories and history. We will have to come back when they go back to that and try it that way. It sounds like fun!More

My husband and I have never had a true southern meal and this fit the bill. The food was amazing and reasonably priced - we shared a meal that was more than enough food. The buttermilk pie was to die for. Love the history of...the house as well. Highly recommend!More

Bought a package for Jack Daniel distillery tour and miss Mary Bobo. Well worth it. The meal was great along with the service. The little town is cute. Debbiw

Overall, the history of the home was interesting and the staff were friendly. Due to Covid, they were not serving family style so we were served by students who were efficient and professional. Unfortunately, we were not impressed with our food. We had the fried...chicken and only one of us got a breast - the rest had a wing, thigh or drumstick. Those were not our fav chicken pieces and were not given a choice during our order. The fried okra was good and the apples were the best part of the plate. Even our peach cobbler dessert was just ok - not warm, not ala mode. All that and realized we paid much more than we expected for a meat and 2 sides with dessert.More

Miss Bobo's boarding house built in 1820s became a boarding house in 1908 until the 1970s at which time it became a family style restaurant. It serves authentic and delicious southern cooking. Reservations are recommended. Park in the town square near the white gazebo and...it is a short walk to this two story white house.More

Excited to eat at Miss Mary Bobo’s shortly after reopening. Fried chicken was delicious, best broccoli rice casserole I have had and the Lynchburg Candied Apples amazing! The trip was worth it to try the apples. Enjoyed learning about the history of the house and...the relationship to the Jack Daniel Distillery. Highly recommend you try if you are in the area. Must make a reservation.More

Hour to hour and half. The tours are on the hour. May I recommend the tasting tour, very interesting. Make sure to ask about why the trees are black with a soot substance and the significance it played with Revenuers’ You... More

I wouldn’t bother - it’s not as good as advertised - save your money and eat somewhere unique en route
