We were on holiday and came across the tavern. Most of the tables were reserved but they managed to squeeze us in for and very good/cheap meal - £3.00 starters and sweets and mail course £5.00 could not ask for better.

We've eaten here several times before, and booked a table for 12 for a special occasion. I originally booked for 10 but asked to increase two days before...not a problem. From arrival to departure, everything went perfectly. Everything arrived on time, at the same time, and every order was correct. Waiting staff are very efficient, polite and friendly, and the... Simply great value for money! Generous portions and friendly staff working there. Some nice Scottish pics and quotes etc to keep the kids asking question.

I just happened to stop on my way to the castle. I had a lovely and abundant lunch for just £5. It was really full and many customers who turned up with no reservation had to go elsewhere

This little restaurant is lovely. The food is excellent as well as the service from staff. I would highly recommend booking first.

Whilst on holiday recently in nearby Newton of Falkland, we visited this establishment for our dinner one evening.. It has a totally relaxed atmosphere, with extremely good prices, and the portion size is no good if you are on a diet.. At busy times you may have to book, but it is definately worth the wait..

Arrived around 1.30 on a rainy Friday to find almost every table full. A good varied menu along with specials and we chose steak pie which came with a choice of potatoes and seasonal veg and lasagna with salad. The portions are very generous and there is the option to have a smaller portion. All the dishes were really fresh... More
