My mum and I stayed just up the road and we were recommended this place by the landlady. Fantastic locals pub that has a mixture of tourists as well. Unfussy, comfortable and unpretentious, just what a good pub should be. Great food and beer, the locals are friendly and the young lady behind the bar that served us on 21st... More

One of the best spots I've been to, to watch the sun setting. Dogs, children and adults all enjoying the best view of the spit, beach, cliffs and Portland

First impressions on walking through the door was wow. The pub has a cosy, warm welcoming feel to it, none of your modern decor, this was a real old fashioned pub and you were certainly made to feel at home. The staff were great, friendly, polite and nothing was too much trouble. Food, we all ate from the specials board,... More

As I got to the middle of the fish it was clearly not cooked properly as it was raw. When the waiter came and... More

Service was extremely friendly Scallops – fresh – all different sizes, quite good, could have been a bit more seared for my taste – bacon and cream sauce not bad. Let down by boring salad which consisted mainly of iceberg lettuce. Sliced bread didn't help either. One of our number had them with chorizo and garlic which looked good. Sea... More

Arrived on a busy Sunday lunch time without a reservation - no problem! Not very hungry, so only wanted a snack - no problem! Mind you - seeing the huge plates of roast dinners, with all the trimmings - we wished we were hungry! Our 'starters' - mushrooms on toast (proper mushrooms - oyster etc) - delicious. Whitebait is in... More
