For a pub lunch this place surpasses expectations with a varied menu to suit most tastes, and really good, well thought out, well prepared dishes. The burger is especially good, being genuinely home produced and beautifully seasoned with proper slip-on chips. Service is friendly and informative. Cosy atmosphere too, and would have given 5 stars but for their inexplicable decision... More

Lovely cosy table by the fire as restaurant empty.. Thursday in December! Starter and main course delicious.. good, varied choice. Desserts sadly, had poor choices tho what we had was nice but very simple compared to the rest. Service excellent from lovely New Zealand waiter. Only other fault was that you got the feeling they were waiting for you to... More

We dropped into the Bankes Arms for lunch on a day trip out to Corfe Castle. The pub itself is lovely and the staff are very attentive and friendly. Unfortunately this lovely pub is let down by the food. The starter was acceptable but my main course was appalling. I ordered the tuna niscoise salad. It was a plate of... More

Friendly prompt service from everyone in the establishment. Roaring log fire. Enjoyed the blond Ringwood Brewery beer, less so the caramel flavoured 49er.

A good place to have a good beer and good food and a bit of train watching in the lovely beer garden. Good WiFi but only inside the main bar. The signal does not reach the garden. By sharing your experiences, you're helping travellers make better choices and plan their dream trips. Thank you!

We stopped here for some lunch before we walked out to the Harry Rocks. It was a lovely day and we ate across the street in their large garden. Young servers brought our food out to us. The food was very good with huge portions. The bangers and mash would feed two senior citizens easlity. I had the brie and... More

Had a delicious meal here. I felt the children's portion of sausages and chips was rather small for the price but our meals were good value and very tasty. It was rather quiet and there was a lot of furniture being moved around in the room we were sitting in.

Thank you for taking the time to review your visit with us. I will look at the childrens portions and see if these need to be revised as we are always happy to listen to customer feedback. I have spent many years visiting Dorset, and more often than not the well reviewed places never reflect the experience I have and often end up being sub standard. This is why it was such a lovely surprise coming to the Banks Arms on a whim without booking or checking reviews to have one of the best meals I have... More
