We came across this pub whilst exploring the North Devon countryside. It's thatched in a quaint village. We decided to stop for a drink. The pub is lovely inside and out. The blackboard menu looked very inviting and it was very busy. They had real real ales, my wife enjoyed her glass of wine and the prices were very reasonable.

A very comfortable restaurant, well decorated and welcoming. The food was excellent and all 4 meals of a high quality. Very attentive service and responsive. The only area I would suggest could be improved was the cutlery,- the 'tools for 2 of us were fine but the others were a bit scratchy and should be swapped. A minor point but... More

For a village pub this is pricey. I ordered the Dressed Crab Salad. It was dry & served on packet lettuce, no dressing. Found a piece of nibbled cucumber in the salad so told the polite waiter & said I wasn't happy. My wife ordered fish pie which, after 30 minutes, we were told was off the menu. So she... More

Spent a really lovely evening with co workers sharing a meal. The menu was huge, and I suspect why some people had amazing food and some not so great, it would be impossible to cook that extensive menu from scratch. I had streak nod it was utterly delicious, someone had lasagne and it lacked flavour and watery. However, the chef... More

We walked to the inn from nearby Highbullen Hotel. Had a great lunch in nice surroundings which was nicely, good portion sizes and a very friendly landlord. We went back for a quiet pint a couple of days later and again, nice people and a very pleasant experience

The last time I went here with my Mother we were shocked about the poor quality of the food and exorbitant cost. I had being going here for many years and always had a great meal but never again. What a shame - the owner was ill but those running it were hopeless. Preferring to argue with us about the... More

Just called in for a light lunch. Fresh crab salad - delicious and tasty. Shell Crammed full with flavoursome crabmeat. Husband had Caesar salad - laden with beautifully cooked chicken pieces and bacon strips. Both dishes attractively served with appropriate salad dressings. Very welcoming landlord, chatty, friendly. Staff helpful and attentive. Great venue for lunch or evening. Very comprehensive menu... More

Traditional thatched village pub with open fire, a fantastic welcome and great home made food. The faggots and pies are amazing, and the portions are enough to satisfy the biggest appetite. The double chocolate cheesecake was absolutely scrummy!
