I really do think this place is my favourite restaurant in Exmouth. If you love being near the sea, you can't beat the view and the food is brilliant. Delicious fresh seafood and lots of choice. The staff are really welcoming too. Looking forward to coming back soon!

We had a lovely trip out on the water taxi. Service was excellent and the food the best I have had in Devon. I had a fish chowder followed by baked Brixham crab. Followed by sorbet. All good local ingredients. And the views over the estuary were stunning. We went as a family and will be back for more.

After getting the puffin water taxi,£5 per person return fare from Exmouth ferry landing and 15 min ride up the river pass some of the sandbanks you arrive at a floating pontoon. The restaurant is located on top of the pontoon with both inside and outside seating and a 2 hour time slot is allocated before you have to get... More

It is a place to go on a balmy summer evening. The food was good and the service efficient. A really nice atmosphere in the restaurant and a lot going on in the estuary. Would go back and have fish and chips next time !

This has to be the most special way to spend an evening. From the unique experience of having to travel by water taxi to get there, to the excellent service, and the fabulous choice of food that was cooked to perfection. The whole evening was faultless - and made a special evening one that will never be forgotten. Many thanks... More

Not a place you decide to stop off quickly unless you have a boat. Truly an amazing experience with a water taxi from Exmouth Dock out into the estuary into one of the most picturesque coastal areas in the country. (Water taxi organised by cafe when you book). The "cafe" looks a bit like a large shed floating on the... More

Little gem floating in the River Exe. Access via river taxi from Exmouth £5.00 return but they have mooring if you own your own boat. Place has great atmosphere and location. Indoor and outdoor seating. I think that you have to book (went with friends and they did it all). The staff are very good and knowledgeable about the menu.... More

The River Exe Cafe is a floating barge just off the Ski lane on the River Exe, and is in the heart of Exmouth’s water sports fraternity, wakeboarding, waterskiing, kayaking, sailing to name just a few, however it is also situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, protected by Natural England. Open from April to September only . The Exe Estuary is home to many rare birds and creatures including Avocets, Osprey and of course our friendly grey seal. With the potential to take up to 100 people on board the Cafe has been designed very much like the “Ski in Ski out” wooden chalets found on the ski slopes of many ski resorts, but with the intention that the quality of food and service exceeds all expectations of the external look and feel. The barge has a licensed bar and covered outdoor space with heaters and indoor seating to relax well into the evening without suffering the cold. Customers to the barge really are of all ages and walks of life, ranging from the usual river users and water sports enthusiasts to bird watchers, artists and holiday makers. Special events such as birthday parties, anniversaries, stag & hen parties to corporate & team building days can be arranged. Private and exclusive use of the barge is also available.
