An absolutely amazing experience all round. Lovely water taxi, gobsmacking scenery, location location, tip top service and the food was oh so, I'm salivating thinking of it, incredible. Watched fish swim underneath us as we ate 😃 can't wait to go again

Group of 7 of us caught the river taxi over for lunch at the café, they organised the taxi for us so there was no stress, excellent food and location....the fish and chips was enormous!

From the water taxi at Exmouth to the whole restaurant experience this was a fabulous evening! The views are simply stunning and the menu offered something for everyone. The mussels in Devon cider were yummy and the specials were delicious too. Prices were fair - mid to high end but well worth it! Great fun for a couple or a... More

Well this time we took friends and the restaurant did not disappoint, the starters were excellent with one choosing crab and I had the clams then the ladies shared the seafood plate just as well they didn't order one each! The other dish of paella was excellent couldn't finish it more than enough. The ladies finished with an eton mess... More

Six of us arrived at the River Exe Cafe after a disastrous journey which took 2 1/4 hours across the Blackdown Hills, instead of the expected 1 hour on the M5.This was due to two accidents on the M5 which caused both sides of the motorway being closed. So when we got aboard we were welcomed by a smiling Magda... More

Excellent location and views of the estuary. Food is nice I would not say excellent as I found my dish the Hake and mackerel sauce with asparagus the sauce was a little over powering perhaps a wrong choice as I like fresh fish without a sauce my crab starter was excellent and was presented like a Michelin stared restaurant one... We'd heard about the River Exe Cafe and decided that an August lunchtime might be ideal. We booked for my wife's birthday and weren't disappointed. Booking online was easy and we were given detailed information about getting there (river taxi) timings and location/directions etc. On the day, the sun was shining and the weather was perfect. The taxi there took... More

Had been here once before of an afternoon, the waitress said we should come in the evening and drink hot chocolate and watch the sun go down. So I booked an evening meal for my boyfriend's birthday in the middle of August. The food was beautiful, the seafood is so fresh and tasty, love the fun of a pint of... More

My friends and I travelled to the cafe for my birthday dinner and was amazed equally by the food and the politeness of the staff. It was a thoroughly pleasant experience and I would definitely recommend it.

The River Exe Cafe is a floating barge just off the Ski lane on the River Exe, and is in the heart of Exmouth’s water sports fraternity, wakeboarding, waterskiing, kayaking, sailing to name just a few, however it is also situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, protected by Natural England. Open from April to September only . The Exe Estuary is home to many rare birds and creatures including Avocets, Osprey and of course our friendly grey seal. With the potential to take up to 100 people on board the Cafe has been designed very much like the “Ski in Ski out” wooden chalets found on the ski slopes of many ski resorts, but with the intention that the quality of food and service exceeds all expectations of the external look and feel. The barge has a licensed bar and covered outdoor space with heaters and indoor seating to relax well into the evening without suffering the cold. Customers to the barge really are of all ages and walks of life, ranging from the usual river users and water sports enthusiasts to bird watchers, artists and holiday makers. Special events such as birthday parties, anniversaries, stag & hen parties to corporate & team building days can be arranged. Private and exclusive use of the barge is also available.
