Very nice pub, staff where friendly. I liked the idea that no kids are allowed in the bar area. The food we had was very nice. But I was disappointed that there was only 1 rabbit choice on the menu. As expected the fires where burning well.

Went here to eat on a Friday night. There were lovely open fires and a great choice of food and drink. There was a quiz night running that was a little in favour of the locals as it featured anagrams of local place names but it was a great atmosphere and we joined in anyway but no surprise we didn't... Located in the heart of Dartmoor, this historic inn and it's constantly-burning log fire (even throughout the summer) is a great place to stop for a pint and a meal. On hot days, sit outside on the benches across the road and drink in the breathtaking views of the National Park that the pub's elevation (1,425ft/434m above sea level) affords.... More

Immediately we were struck by the warm cozy atmosphere. The fire was on and the main bar was busy. There wasn't a massive variety of food (only 1 chicken dish on offer) but the food was good hearty stuff. We both enjoyed our food and the staff were very friendly. Good location.

Cracking pub in the middle of nowhere on Dartmoor. Great ales available. Spectacular views outside looking over the moors and wild ponies along with cows and sheep roaming freely. More of a older persons and couples destination as not much for children to do.

We took my elderly mother here on a trip to Tavistock and it was great - I've been here before but we all love the atmosphere, the views and the roaring fire. The food was very good (the steak baguette was excellent, without the tough bits one often gets in steak sandwiches) and the bar staff were very friendly. We... More

Called in for Sunday lunch. Reasonably varied menu but not for kids, all options come with chips. We had the Sunday roast which was disappointing, all elements were convienice products, frozen roasties, frozen Yorkshire puds, packet gravy, frozen veg. No option for a child's roast lunch. The lady serving at the bar was pleasant enough but the guy serving the... More

Although always a drafty place to park the car it is a pleasure to open the door to a welcoming inn with a log fire and a choice of hot and cold food. a good selection of rustic tables and chairs ensure that visitors can enjoy a snack and good pint..
