There were a number of positives of my stay in the Malt Scoop Inn, not least the delicious food which I had on my final night, the warm welcome and the proprietor going out of her way to provide breakfast for me very early in the morning. There were a couple of opportunities for the inn to improve which would... More

We accompanied friends to this pub for Sunday lunch. Excellent service, food was plentiful, lots of fresh vegetables and very large Yorkshire puddings. We only managed starter and main had to for go desert as we were full. Lovely pub, well worth the drive to get to it, will return.

It is becoming a bit of a habit, having a meal at the Malt Scoop when visiting friends down this way. We've have had a few meals here but the Sunday Dinner last week was excellent, well cooked meat with a fantastic selection of vegetables, throw in a pint of quality ale and you've got perfection, we shall be back.

Called into this pub for lunch after a walk in the country. The pub car park is on the opposite side of the road in case you are confused about where to park. It is fair to say that this pub has 'grown' over the centuries (and not plonked there by some corporate space-ship). It has very low ceilings and... More

My partner and I popped in for a quick lunch with our newborn. Staff were all so friendly sitting around the bar themselves even though they weren't on shift- you could see they just enjoyed being there and each other's company. They welcomed us in and cooed appropriately over our bundle of joy which was nice. We sat at the... More

A party of 10, spanning 3 generations we had a fantastic evening meal as a finale to a family holiday in Devon. The choice of dishes was extremely varied including an extensive 'specials' board. We were able to choose an individual dish for the small children which the chef came and discussed with us - pasta in a cheesy sauce... More

Initially went here as the pub was listed in the Good Beer Guide. Made the mistake of ordering starters and mains. Either course would have been enough on it's own and we really struggled to finish. We were staying in Torrington for a few days and paid a few return visits here for the food, beer, friendly staff and locals.

Driving past this quaint pub,in Merton, south bound on the A386 in Devon,a placard placed outside told of a breakfast availible on Saturday mornings. I've been to many pubs in my time trying out the Sunday lunches, and I've got to say this pub and Sunday lunch I have ever had in my life, it's close to the Sunday lunches that my mum used to cook, and I'll tell you know I've eaten in a few 5 star places in my time and dined... More
