this was an experience that I was never thought i would have - the food was a wonderful gastronomic adventure that will stay with me forever - at first i wondered if it really was worth the journey and the expense but having had what was a perfectly respectable meal in a lovely hotel I realise that it was an... This is just the nicest place in the West Country that I have been to. The setting, the staff, the atmosphere, not to mention the delicious food which just kept on coming. Well worth the hour's drive for a most memorable lunch. The staff were super courteous and knowledgeable, frankly the best 4 hour lunch I've had in a long... More

I love fine dining, not just because of the lovely dishes of well presented food, but for the expectation that there will be something that really stands out, part of a dish (or, one hopes, many dishes) that is truely exemplary. I fondly describe to anyone who will listen an experience in a restaurant where it seemed that the flavour... More

The setting of Gidleigh Park is beautiful and I would recommend you arrive in plenty of time to take a walk through the garden, if possible. We had booked for dinner to enjoy the 10 course taster meal. On arrival the maître de was welcoming and attentive and after pre dinner drinks we were led into the dining room. The... More

We had a family lunch here to celebrate one of our party's birthday. None of us had been before. When we arrived we were a bit worried as the greeting was not great. There seemed to be confusion as we had previously been told that the child in our party could eat beforehand and order from the bar, but this... More

My wife and i settled for the 3 course £50 menu. In reality, the 3 course menu is 7 courses as the staff keeps on bringing out additional small dishes. A visit to the Gidleigh Park restaurant is everything a 2 michelin star experience should be. The food tastes great whilst being beautifully presented and full of surprises. It makes... More

Relax. The food's better than ever: Wignall has 2 Michelin Stars and no wonder. Just a bit of background here: I first went to Gidleigh with my second husband in about 1983, our first taste of nouvelle cuisine. Then Michael Caines took over and the food became much simpler, classical French, but beautiful. Now, it's Michael Wignall - who is... More

A friend had organised this special meal as part of a trip to Dartmoor. We didn't really know what to expect which made the whole experience that much better. We arrived at the restaurant on a beautiful evening and started our night with a glass of champagne on the terrace which overlooked beautiful gardens. There was no al la carte... More

We visited on the bank holiday weekend and started with a drink on the terrace over looking Dartmoor so peaceful and beautiful view. The service was impeccable and subtle. We had the 7 course tasting menu and each course was beautifully presented and delicious. We weren't rushed and it was a leisurely evening highly recommend.
