We returned after an email deal I am guessing sent out to drum up return business after the departure of Michael Caines. The hotel is beautiful, location stunning and was lovely to see in summer as we visited in winter previously. Wasn't sure what to expect from new chef but was not disappointed. We upgraded to the 10 course taster... More

My husband and I were given a 3 course lunch as a Mothers day present and at £50 a head it would not usually be our lunch destination of choice. However, from the minute we arrived,we felt like royalty. All of the staff were efficient and freindly ,we were offered to sit on the terrace ovèrlooking the immaculate gardens and ordered... More

The lunch tasting menu "7". A dazzling series of plates showing off masterly culinary skills and an appreciation of taste and texture. Each of the seven courses presents 1/2 dozen excellent samples of diverse texture and flavour. Quantities are so tiny for this exercise in forensic tasting that they can hardly be considered food. The (surprisingly provided) bread and butter... More

Dear SDJK_2013, Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your experience with us, the kitchen do certainly view their creations as art and have a great deal of passion that come through in each and every component of the plates. I am disheartened to hear of your thoughts on the timings and portion sizes, each course... More

Was a really good experience. We took the ten course menu option, was delicious, delicate, and surprising. The service was also very good. Friendly people, very well trained. Wine was fantastic. For those who enjoy eating experiences I hardly recommend

We had a seven course tasting menu for lunch with friends. The canape or amuse bouche (spelling!) started off what was to be a very enjoyable experience. I loved the tiny bursts of fine cracker with two different flavours that accompanied a tiny dish of salmon with elderflower jelly. The almost prawn cracker like accompaniments were fabulous with taramasalata, black... More

Probably the best restaurant I've ever been to. 10 course tasting menu with wine pairing. The surroundings and the building gives it the wow factor anyway and the food is the icing on the cake. Very expensive but we didn't care as was worth it.

We all felt very pampered by the team who looked after 16 of us. There was no rush or fuss! The food was a pure example of craftsmanship. A number of combinations which on paper looked rather 'interesting' but when on the plate were a magnificent experience. The combination of wines for each of the 7 course worked very well... More

Gidleigh Park is one of those special places one has to try to visit at least once. The setting is bucolic and the accommodations first rate. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The chef is world renowned and we ate beautifully presented, creative and delicious courses. We highly recommend.

We were out walking and stumbled out of a wood into paradise. Such beautiful surroundings, amazing views. Had the afternoon tea which is pricy but you get what you pay for. Perfect, exquisitely presented cakes, warm, wonderful scones.
