The owners had only been at the eatery for 8 weeks when we visited while on holiday. We were given a lovely welcome and enjoyed great coffee/cake/cheese scone

Close to the square you find this small and very charming newly opened restaurant. They serve fresh and local food in a traditional setting. We had a wonderful seven hour cooked lamb dish with lots of vegetables, and a rhubarb dessert to die for. They do not sell alcohol, but it is no problem; just bring your own wine. I... More

My husband and I happened into this marvelous eatery just across the street from the 13th century-church in the center of the incredibly charming moorland town of Chagford. We were warmly greeted by the hostess Andrea, co-owner of the restaurant with her husband, who serves as chef. We considered eating at several other restaurants in town, including the one at... Staying near Chagford we "gate crashed" the locals Golden Years lunch. The cooked to order food was great and the service efficient, friendly and helpful even offering one lady a "doggy bag" so she'd have room for her dessert. We were so impressed with the food and service we booked in for dinner on the follow three days of our... More

We recently spent a holiday in Devon and were looking for somewhere to eat that was not too expensive and we came across Whiddons Eatery. We thought we would give it a try and were so impressed we used the restaurant four times in... More

Dropped in after our stay in the area for coffee and were treated to amazing hospitality by the owner, Andrea. She made fresh, delicious coffee for us and we had her ginger flapjack and absolutely the nest shortbread I have tasted in my life! Tender, not too sweet, and melt in your mouth buttery. Scrumptious! Another couple came in an... More

Wow!!!! We had a private party of 15 here and it was utterly amazing! The food was excellent, the staff were friendly, and the deserts were to die for! We really felt special! We can't believe how great it was. Such a tiny place, but such a warm welcome. Bring your own booze, but soft drinks were available to buy,... More

Staying near Chagford for a week, had dinner here on last night, friendly hostess, perfect dinner all freshly prepared and well-cooked. Special shout out for the limoncello trifle! We found it convenient to bring own drink too. Do go.
