Visited this pub pretty much every day of our week's cottage holiday nearby, popping in for a couple of drinks before dinner. Great atmosphere, huge roaring fire and friendly locals. Never ate here but the food looked good and hearty. Loved the horsebox / outside smoking zone! Would definitely seek this pub out again when next in the area.

This pub is a step back in time. Great food, great beer and a roaring fire - even in June. Keep a look out inside for the fox and crocodile wearing hats. And make sure you have a glance at the unique weather vane on the roof!

We were taken here by friends for Sunday lunch. The food was delicious, well cooked and there was plenty of it! The pub 'steps back in time' with it's cosy rooms, wonderfully large log fire, old photo's and a 'no mobiles' sign - bliss! Two beers were well kept and the landlady very hospitable. A must for those who dislike... More

We received a very friendly welcome, service was swift and we had the most delicious roast beef. Huge well cooked portions and 6 vegetables! The locals were friendly and chatty even though we came from "over the border". We will certainly go again and recommend it to friends.

Extremely pleasant and helpful landlady who makes the best suet crust pie we have ever tasted. This is a very small, traditional Dartmoor pub but make sure you come off the main road and find this one. If you want some fabulous home cooked food you won't be disappointed. The roaring fire was a bonus.

This is a truly great spot but we went out for drinks with friends and felt very unwelcome. Beer is OK. Food looked adequate. Great place to visit but don't expect a great welcome!

Traditional cosy country pub set in small hamlet of Wonson, dartmoor national park. Traditional home cooked menu, friendly landlady. Great quality of food, especially fish and chips and the sticky toffee pudding which was delicious. Lovely open fire which added to the charm of the pub. Parking available next to pub.

We always visit this pub when we're walking nearby on Dartmoor with the dogs. The pub is a classic rural pub with no pretensions - just lovely atmosphere and very wholesome home made food. The bar always has a roaring fire and the garden is great to sit out in weather allowing. Our walkers guidebook for Dartmoor says it is... More

This is a destination pub which had a great reputation ten or more years ago. Sadly the welcome now is not that friendly, the landlady is possibly overworked trying to do too much, giving the impression of a tired school mistress. Our Sunday lunch visit was for a light snack, other than a roast the choice was whitebait or soup.... More
