We ate at this pub while staying in the area on a long weekend. I had phoned earlier in the day to check that they served food on Sunday evenings (we have been caught out before in rural areas where pubs serve Sunday lunch and then don't serve food in the evening) as we wanted to eat after a day... We arrived fairly late in the date to eat a meal, so the restaurant was fairly empty. The steak was the best steak my husband had tasted in a while. It's in a lovely setting by the river. The staff were friendly and service was good.

Pub lunch was tasty. Sitting outside over looking the River Dart was an extra bonus. Speciale on the menu

Only a couple of minutes outside of Buckfastleigh, really close to the train and Otter sanctuary. Simple pub food but very tasty. Right on the river so very picturesque

Had a carvery here on a Sunday (all that was available on a Sunday). Staff were very friendly and the setting was lovely. We sat outside on a lovely summers day - the view of the river was great. Food itself was fairly good, not exceptional. Certainly wasn't cheap, so would have expected slightly better quality food, but was happy... More

This pub is just off the A38 at Buckfastleigh, on the road to the abbey. We used it as a lunch venue, having visited the abbey in the morning. A good spread of dishes on the menu, extremely helpful and pleasant staff, very good food, and all served up literally on the banks of the river Dart. An axcellent lunch... More

Gorgeous riverside setting for a drink, lovely on a summers day. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Had liver and mash for dinner, tasty and warming. Friend I went with had a less inspiring veggie stir fry so would recommend going with the pub classics. All the food clearly being fresh prepared in the kitchen. A lovely stop off, couldn't... More

Have visited a number of times for dinner with friends. The food is priced very well for the amount you receive and it all tastes very yummy. It is mainly pub grub as it is a traditional old fashioned pub but its what makes it charming. Would recommended but do call ahead or book especially on weekends as we have... More

Very welcoming and accommodating. Good beer and excellent food served promptly. I went for the pork tenderloin, there was plenty of it along with a generous amount of veg and couldn't fault it's flavour. My wife ordered the stir fry and no complaint was forthcoming. Another of our party plumped for the ultimate burger and wasn't disappointed, our final member... More
