Waiting staff took 20 before they came to get our order, after a further 35 minutes still no food, was told it would be no more than 5 minutes; after 7 minutes I paid the drinks bill and left. Wasn't that busy either.
The Imp has been given a significant makeover sine I was last there. The old lounge bar still looks like a bar but does not really have tables for eating so go to the new dining room. Has a fresh cheerful feel to it. Great...views. Menu similar to previously but with some more refined sounding dishes. Honestly I would recommend sticking with the pub classics. Fish & Chips, Pies, Burgers all great. Not so sure about the haute cuisine alternatives, though, to be honest, I didn't try them because the pub food is so good. Cheerful, helpful service and excellent value. I was looking for scampi on the menu but it appears no longer to be there which is a shame! Will be fab in the hot Summer months on the terrace.More
We had lunch for the first time here with a couple of friends. A late Saturday lunch on the terrace, on a beautiful sunny day. All the food was lovely but special mention has to go to the tomahawk steak which was shared and according...to the participants was “the best they had had in Guernsey” Could not fault it.More
Have had many meals at the Imperial over the years. Went today and as always setting is very good and hotel and restaurant good. Unfortunately food today was only ok. Think we went on an off day. Hope to go back and improve next review.
We came over to stay at this hotel for a few nights with our 1 and a half year old, making sure via email that we had a travel cot with all the bedding etc in the room. I asked again as we checked in...and it was confirmed that we had the cot. Unfortunately when we saw the room there was no travel cot. We asked at reception and they sent Paula to sort one for us. They are very tricky things to put up, especially under pressure, so after a few tries from all of us with two cots and wondering what the next step would be, Frankie and Paula managed to put it up and sort it for us, a bit of a relief and we appreciate all the efforts put into this. It was a rocky start (it would've been 5 stars if not for this) but our stay at this hotel was lovely. We had beautiful views, friendly and helpful staff and we had a high chair waiting for us at our 'usual table' every morning for breakfast, for which we were always slightly early for because of our little one! Even her requests for her favourite fruit was fulfilled every morning! The restaurant food was gorgeous and everybody seemed so helpful and accommodating wherever we went at the hotel, Paula always came over to talk to us and our toddler when she saw us, which was so sweet. I would highly recommend this place and I'm sure the cot was a one off.More
I was taken here by locals, as it was my first visit to Guernsey. We ate in the bar, rather than the outdoor area.
I had the special, which was mushroom pie. It was done like a shepherd's pie (that is, not pastry), but with...a mushroom filling in a light gravy. It was OK, but nothing special. Then to either have mashed potatoes or chips with that was a bit too much of the same thing. I think a salad would have been a better pairing.
The cider was probably the best one I've had in a long time. It was "Bad Apple". I haven't found it again since, but I'll remember that more than the food :)More
The views of Roquaine Bay dominate this dining room. The food and service are both very good. The specials are also very good, but last for 2 to 3 days. The fish is fresh. Our favorite is the chicken Cesar salad. The service is great....Lauren stands out as a very friendly and knowledgeable server. There is patio dining as well. There is easy accessibility bus for those not staying at the hotel as the bus stop is just across the street.More
We have been loyal customers of the Imperial for several years now. The food is, generally, average but the location is good and it is our "local".
In previous years, prior to the refurbishment, on a balmy summer evening we have been able to sit...outside on the terrace and enjoy a simple meal. This evening however we were refused outside service (the difference between eating on the terrace and eating in the restaurant being an open patio door). We were with our dog and so we understood that we would not be able to eat in the restaurant. We were only offered service in the public bar and to be honest spit and sawdust would be an upgrade on the ambience.
Most disappointing. The outside terrace would have been perfect on this lovely evening. I cannot understand why they won't use it.More
