I had a lovely moules frites, and my wife's cold meat and cheese platter was fine, but when we asked for some bread to go with it (which we'd imagined would be a simple request) we established that there was crostini included which had not been brought to the table, but it was a tiny amount and when we asked for some slices of French bread, we were met by a blank expression. Eventually we were brought some hard slices of sourdough.
A mystery why the moules didn't come with a spoon.
The muscadet, at about £25 a bottle, was overpriced and had a bit of fizz to it and didn't taste as it should, but I decided not to send it back.
On to the desert, the mango and passionfruit cheesecake was the meanest slice I've ever seen, and for some reason tasted of desiccated coconut. I couldn't eat it.
Desert was the last we saw of either waitress in the covered outside area. We waited half an hour, but nobody came to ask us if we wanted anything else (we'd have bought more drinks, so that's a lost sale) or if we wanted the bill. I eventually went in to find the till, where the waiter didn't ask us if we'd enjoyed our meal. I mentioned the inedible dessert, and he was quick to ask if I wanted it taken off the bill. He shouldn't have needed to ask, though.
A mixed experience.

I recommend a visit to this Restaurant. I wish I took a picture of the food I had but I got stuck straight into it.
I had the Garlic Mushroom Flat Bread and my friend had the Tomato Soup, both were hot and nicely cooked.
A great option for Lunch/Dinner, visiting with family or friends.

We have dined at this restaurant several times when we have visited Guernsey in the past. Sadly our visit this year was disappointing. We felt there were definitely fewer seafood dishes available than previously and the food was average. The waitress who served us kept hovering near the table to check on if we'd finished, which we found intrusive and made us feel rushed and uncomfortable. As The Boathouse is part of the Christies group of restaurants we expected a lot better. We will not be dining there in future.

Poor service. Not particularly friendly or welcoming. Table of 9 was accommodated which we appreciated. Food was not great for the money, charcuterie and seafood platter was overpriced. The seafood platter had a huge pot of Mackerel pate and a slice of bread. The same with the charcuterie board 2 tiny crackers the bread:food ratio was all wrong. Unless you wanted to eat a kilner jar of pate with a spoon you needed more bread we asked for some more which they brought out. They charged us £7 for the bread on the bill!! 2 baskets with 2 slices each in.... Bearing in mind the platters were not cheap (£14-£16) I thought this was a cheek. We also had to ask for cutlery for the kids as they didn't bring any. Kids meals were OK. We enjoy eating out, always tip staff but in this case we certainly did not. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't go again.

Another of our regular yearly visits and the service and food consistently perform. Of course the location is unbeatable ( only the Octopus comes close) and as part of the Christie’s Group ( 5 restaurants ) they know what works well. The Manager onsite is especially helpful, we were never without a seat. Compliments to Christoph as all the staff are consistently motivated. Try Crabby Jacks at Vazon Bay on a sunny day, we always do, the same staff attitude exists there.

Had two visits to the boathouse in a week. The first was okish. Prawn cocktails over priced and very small portions.. Had lasagna what was very nice but had to send it back as it was cold in the middle. Second visit no lasagna on the menu as they had ran out. Had the rib eye steak, well the size of the steak was pitiful thin chewy small and awful. Was an absolute rip off for the price. Never again. Other dishes did looked ok but will not return.

With the wealth of GREAT seafood restaurants in Guernsey, the fact that the Boathouse is still even in business is something of a mystery. Bland, unappealing food, served to tourists (in season)...and to few others the rest of the time. I'd avoid this and simply walk across the street to Nautique or Mora, both of which are VASTLY better.

Once upon a time it was possible to get a French style assiette de fruit de mère at The boathouse. Sadly these days the best aspect of the restaurant are the French fries.
On a Bank holiday Monday there were neither mackerel nor crab available - essentially no seafood other than some mussels.
Now a hot & cold sandwich & pizza emporium - if that’s what you want then good luck but use the gents somewhere else. As of the end of August there is a pervading smell of vomit around the cramped gents toilet. There is a good reason outside tables are empty this summer. One to most definitely avoid.

Didnt book, just walked in.
Service was quick.
I had the fish pie which was very tasty. Only thing i would mention is that the fish at the bottom was not in a cheesy or creamy sauce it was just in its juices with chopped leeks.
Mash on top was gorgeous.
My husband had the fish and chips which wete also lovely but came with wedges, not chips which he found odd.
Very nice wine, I had a rose pinot grigio.

We were only on the island a few hours changing ferries on a hot day. We needed somewhere nice to eat and found the Boathouse. Lovely to sit in the shade in the conservatory area with a breeze and views. Despite not booking we were served quickly and the food was lovely. We did not have to wait long for the food but there was lots of quayside activity to look at whilst we did. Our only criticism would be that the staff seemed to struggle to ensure that people were served in the order that they had arrived so we found ourselves having to attract attention when we were first seated and promised a server.

This establishment has changed ownership and this is reflected in the quality of food and variety. A reasonable wait to be served but a longer wait to receive food which was disappointing and only after I asked where our meals were. Not busy at the establishment at the time so I question why the slowness? Probably will change hands again soon.

In previous years the Boathouse was an upmarket harbour restaurant. Good food and service and an ambiance. This year we were confined to a plastic tent on the front. Plastic tables and all the ambiance of a chip shop. If you wanted a fast pizza Or sandwich it was fine. We saw people in and out in half an hour. We ordered fish dishes and they were quite edible but of such regularity as to suggest straight out of a packet. Disappointed, but to be fair, it was our expectations that were the problem.

We were in town yesterday enjoying Seafront Sunday and hunger overtook us while close to the Boathouse.
We had a very good and reasonable one courser in a very busy restaurant.
We could totally understand why it was so busy---great value for money.
Will be back,

We visited the Boat house three times during our stay and enjoyed a delicious breakfast each time.
The girls serving us were very pleasant and looked after us well.
The food was generous and great value.
The vie from the back across the marina is lovely

Definitely worth a visit. Fabulous food and service. We visited several times as it was a firm favourite and never disappointed. Everything we tried on the menu was delicious and all of the staff were wonderful and welcoming. Highly recommended.
