The Lamplighter is a brilliant Real Ale Pub. It has 5 to choose from rotated on a regular basis. It also serves cocktails, 100's of whiskies & numerous other alcoholic beverages. This Pub no longer serves restaurant food but locally sourced pork pies & scotch eggs do the trick. Live sport is available & there is a quiz night on Wednesdays. Highly recommended when visiting St Helier!

We'd walked past this pub a few days before whilst on our short 5-day break to Jersey. We couldn't stop at the time, but noting the numerous hand pulls on the bar, we made a promise to pop back.
We did indeed pop back, with an hour to spare before a bunker tour we'd booked. As soon as we walked in, the handful of locals (including the landlord) struck up conversation with us. They were pleasant and had a good jolly banter with us. We were thrilled with the real ales on offer, managed to have 1.5 pints before we had to say our goodbyes.
Needless to say, after the bunker tour, we decided to head back to The Lamplighter, to sample more of their delights. New serving staff that were on were equally friendly and more than happy to provide samples of beer before we chose. We also had a pork pie, which was delicious. They also have home-made liqueurs in large glass dispensers on the shelf behind the bar, so naturally we had a glass (or two) of those.
Lovely cosy decor, friendly staff and locals, tasty ale and snacks, what else could we have wished for? It's just a good job we were heading home the next day, otherwise we could have lost a few more hours in this delightful establishment.

Had the best Saturday afternoon/evening in a bar great choice of pints even if some a bit expensive. For me the whisky on offer is incredible and well priced its the perfect way to try some good age statement whisky without buying a bottle first, gin very tasty blueberry was my favourite. Atmosphere great friendly people I went in on my own ended up talking to lots of different people throughout my time watching the rugby, the bar snack were awesome.

A pub often recommended in the various guides and by locals and it did not disappoint.
Suffice to say that if you like whisky you will be spoiled for choice.
Also a wide range of beers including a really interesting Rhubarb Cider.
Went for the drinks, stayed for the cricket, unfortunately England lost to India !!
Staff are very friendly and obviously used to people taking their time trying to decide, also very knowledgeable about the drinks.
Beware guides that suggest they also serve meals.
However they do have pork pies, scotch eggs etc. and the warm pork crackling served with apple sauce was fantastic.

This is one of,if not, the nicest pub I’ve stepped in. I wish I could have this pub where I live in England. The staff are welcoming. We went back every evening, and even did the quiz night. The locals never once made us feel uncomfortable, quite the opposite. If you go to St Helier, go to this pub! Also- the pork scratchings and selection of whiskeys and liqueurs is outstanding. Proper pub as it should be.

We stayed at the Royal Yacht Hotel for four nights last September and out of all the pubs we visited, and we certainly sampled plenty of them, this was by far our favourite. A short stroll along Mulcaster Street, it has a wonderful atmosphere and is very cosy in the evening. Highly recommended.

Initially we were going to pass this pub, however, we did go in and were pleasantly surprised. The staff were so friendly and informative and the selection of beers and particularly whiskeys was fantastic. This is a whiskey lovers paradise, this was the best pubs we visited and I would strongly recommend a visit.

"The best pub in Jersey" I was told within 5 mins of arriving, and although I haven't visited them all (yet), so far it is by a county mile! Superbly kept real ales - the Timothy Taylor Boltmaker on the first night was perfect, especially when accompanied by lovely hot pork scratchings (with apple sauce) - they went down very well indeed. The welcome by the locals was warm and genuine. I have family residing in Jersey now, so guess where my first port of call will be on my next visit? Can't wait to get back.

Superb range of real ale and clearly a popular venue with a great vibe. No idea why it’s listed under restaurants as they don’t do a menu apart from the pork scratchings, scotch egg and pork pies. That said, those did fill a much needed gap on the night. Friendly staff, loads of screens for sport but with sound turned down so not a distraction for those not interested. As a solo traveler, it was ideal to watch a game with a few pints in a positive atmosphere.

This is the pub if you like real ales and a place to meet locals. The beers are good and well kept. Plenty of choice and the pork pies and scotch eggs are well worth the try.

A real gem of a place and glad we found it. Such a brilliant welcoming atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. We returned one evening for the pub quiz - great craic and entertainment. The wrong answers being the highlight as nobody took it too seriously. We were on a short trip to Jersey but managed a few sessions here. The beer, cider and even Guinness were good but the cocktails were the best in both value and taste. I’m not a whiskey drinker but even I was impressed at the range on offer.

A great traditional pub with a great range of beers, ciders and whiskies. Always very crowded, the combination of locals and tourists but it reflects the character and location of the pub. Conveniently located for those close to the St Helier harbour area.

Came across the lamp lighter on our weekend break to Jersey and we made it our local while we were on the Island.
Lovely pub with friendly locals and tourists alike. The staff were friendly and attentive, there was plenty of places to sit whilst working to go Covid guidelines.

What an incredible range of whiskies. I come from Speyside and I've never seen the like. Great ales on tap. Special vintage armagnacs. But if yours is a half of lager you'll be just as well served. Lovely ambience. No food served.

If you like your whiskies then the Lamplighter in St Helier is the choice to make. There are hundreds! Casual, chilled atmosphere with good wines too. Mid afternoon music sound track nicely stuck in the 1970s - perfect for us young folk.
