Best coffee in Jersey and the food is out of this world!

Tucked away at the end of the high street this is a little gem. Loved the decor and aesthetics, modern scandy. After being greeted by friendly staff, we sat at the window seat and enjoyed a Americano. Wow this coffee was seriously good! Blows your socks off! For food we ate the salmon and eggs, so delicious, touches of dill and cooked to perfection. It’s pricing reflects the quality and it’s not a every day eat but a lovely once a week treat!👌

Truly superb

This is hands down the best breakfast I’ve had in Jersey. Or the UK. The coffee is excellent, I had a flat white and it was exactly what it should be. The menu is eclectic, inventive and colourful and the flavour pairings show off a chef who really has talent and originality. The Benedict with added bacon was so good and also very pretty. We shared some banana toast afterwards because we’re greedy and it was perfect. The decor is relaxing and classy and the servers were all friendly, relaxed and efficient. They deserve much admiration.

Worth a visit.

Lovely cafe that was recommended to me. Great service. Delicious banana leaf served warm with fruit and nuts and yog. Coffee was good. Not cheap at £8 for coffee and cake but lovely. I sat outside as inside was too lively for my quiet day! Great atmosphere. Clean toilets too.

Much promised, nothing delivered.

“Please wait to be seated” pretentiousness, but friendly enough. Seated by the elegant waitress at the bar by the window with a promising menu. So far so good. And there it ended. Sat for well over 10 minutes waiting to order a coffee and some breakfast but ignored by everyone while most staff appeared to be milling around without clear purpose. Could not catch anyone’s eye and unable to work out if the cleaning up guy was actually perhaps also a waiter, despite not taking any orders from any customer. Aforementioned waitress suddenly behind the counter making coffees. Confusing. Left, disappointed.

Extremely overpriced especially with the sneaky 10% service charge for sitting in!

Never in my life have I been to a coffee shop that charges a sneaky service charge. Noticed it on the bill after my wife said that our two lattes, two kids pancakes and two BLTs came to £51! Nearly fell off my chair when she told me. 1) the general pricing is crazy and 2) to add a 10% 'discretionary' service charge for sitting in at a coffee shop and not make this abundantly aware until you ask for a receipt it's not on at all. You're a coffee shop not the burj khalifa. Actually feel sick at the price we paid to go here and for what we actually got for the price. The food and coffee were fine nothing to write home about but on this basis I would not recommend this place unless you have very deep pockets and you are also happy to pay a service charge for sitting in.

Rude staff.

The staff here in this restaurant are very rude. Initially I ordered 2 banana breads but I was served only one. When I asked for another one and was about to pay which they missed to include in the initial order, the staff mentioned we will sort it out no need to pay. Again when I asked them for the second time if I can pay for the second banana bread they said no it has already been paid. I left the restaurant, after few seconds a staff came running after me asking me to pay for the second banana bread. I was fuming within and was expecting an apology from the staff but after I paid nobody bother to apologise. Worst customer service and very rude staff.

Everything you want in a coffee shop and more!

The best coffee shop in Jersey! I’ve been lots of times and it never disappoints! It was absolutely mobbed during the busy Christmas rush and the standards remained just as high! (Hence it was so busy!) Fabulous artisan coffee, the rich, warming smell of the beans Lockes use grab you and give you a big hug as soon as you walk in. The milk is always to perfection and whether you’re taking away or sitting in it’s delivered to you with a smile. The food is wonderful. Interesting, creative dishes that change throughout the year to keep you coming back! The lamb ragu and penne pasta was the perfect winter warmup, or the vibrant and moorish cubanos sandwich for an indulgent treat! I’m not a sweets fan but I can’t help be tempted by a banana bread when I see a table near me get one! Wether you’re a local, passing through on business, or on holiday - I couldn’t recommend Lockes enough!

Lockes ranks among the brunch elites in a heavily stacked brunch island such as Jersey. The staff are always friendly and service is usually pretty speedy. The menu doesn’t change too much but it doesn’t really need to when everything on their is delicious. Good vibes and tasty food - can’t really fault it 👍🏻

The best and most imaginative food in Jersey

Probably the best food you can try in Jersey. It was now my 4th visit and every meal was beautifully crafted and genuinely different and imaginative. It’s very difficult to get anything close to this quality elsewhere in Jersey - and Locke’s remains unbeaten in quality by a long way totally outperforming every restaurant. Apart from the great food and atmosphere the staff are all very welcome and friendly, a really great team.

Best Breakfast/Brunch venue on the Island

We went here for breakfast and didn’t know what to expect but was thoroughly impressed. I can’t recommend the “Avo Great Day” enough and the banana bread was very tasty too. Service was prompt and friendly. Price-wise it’s a little on the steep side, but it’s worth it for food of this quality.

Visited plenty times so only fair to leave a review. Lovely breakfast / brunch - very imaginative menu ! Nice coffee and friendly service. You don’t feel rushed and the price is very reasonable. Absolutely ideal place for couples, family, business - even on your own for a coffee and cake! Will continue to go again and again!

Busy, bustling breakfast

I felt genuinely sad when I left Lockes that it is unlikely I will go back, at least anytime soon! We were in Jersey for a few days break and saw a recommendation for breakfast at Lockes, It is clearly the place to go. Very busy when we arrived, We initially sat at a bar by the window and snagged a table when it became free. The place was humming with people meeting over breakfast and talking business and catching up with friends. The building is beautiful and seems to have original fittings. Breakfast was delicious and I had some of the best pancakes ever. A Jersey tradition you really should try

Not so special.

We'd had coffee here several times and decided to do lunch. We ordered from the Specials list. My wife had Thai fish cakes that were small, rubbery and not good at all. I had a bowl of muesli with a whole mozzarella cheese, some bits of cold chicken, some cold sugar snap peas and some squashed tomatoes. If I had just chucked the leftovers from my fridge into a bowl I would have made something much more appetising. The bill came to £35.

Unwelcoming coffee shop

I popped in for a takeaway coffee. The place is laid out such that you immediately feel like you’re in the way. Ordered said coffee and stood to one side only to be asked to wait outside in the street for my drink. Rude. Coffee arrived quite fast but, being outside means no access to sugar etc. Whatever. I won’t go back again, plenty of choice in friendly places. Coffee was nothing special.

Chic city vibe that’s hard to find elsewhere on the island

Really delicious food with a chic city atmosphere that is hard to find elsewhere on the island. A great variety of menu staples and seasonal items - something for everyone. My only advice would be get there quickly on a weekend before it fills up! I fully recommend the Burrata and Tomato salad - “Walk the Vine”, delicious!
