This place delivers strongly on almost all fronts. Good food, great ambiance, good service (excellently led by the resident Hungarian - truly engaging, funny, dry, entertaining), well prices wines and sommelier support, good cocktails, daily fish specials and a chunky beef dish to share. So where’s the but... well, I picked up the tab for the table and I don’t feel overly aggrieved at the total, the service was fully deserved and I can’t complain that I left hungry, however some of the dishes are expensive even for the environment in which they are served. However it’s a great special occasion place and one we’ll return to.

We enjoyed our evening at Samphire, excellent atmoshere , service, informative staff and excellent food. We booked on a recommendation and are glad we decided to go , Was very impressed with the service - staff who were knowledgeable and informative, also so nice not to be rushed .My wife had the Tomato Focaccia which she has not stopped talking about ! rating it one of the best starters she has ever had !

Hadn’t been to Samphire for a while but the set menu was very tempting, so we paid a visit on a busy Saturday lunchtime. We sat near the open kitchen, where the atmosphere was calm but focussed. After some complimentary gluten free cumin bread, I chose the fish soup as a starter. This was delicious and had a great depth of flavour. This was followed by gluten free fish and chips, which were perfectly cooked. My only regret was not leaving room for the pear soufflé. So happy to find a restaurant with such good gluten free options. We’ll be back soon.

Went for a family meal recently, five of us.
Very quiet early on a Saturday night. Drinks in small bar. A La Carte Menu had many "we don't have any's" at least three, and then when we ordered Chateaubriand for two, waitress returned to say there wasn't any of that either but there was Rib at a £5 reduction of £75 for two, hardly a generous gesture given the difference in ingredient cost between the two cuts. How can a restaurant with Michelin pretension have so many items unavailable on a Saturday?
Anyway the meal had some high points, oysters, crab starter, truffle linguine were good starters, lamb and fish ( it was a substitute which I have forgotten) mains were also appreciated. Rib for two was tough, truffle chips dry, when they eventually arrived. Service was patchy, items missing, and delivery disjointed.
Decent Chateau Musar, average Albariño. Odd wine list, little choice below £45. Had to ask for Musar to be opened to breathe as it was sitting on service table nearby. At £80 a bottle I would have thought we could be assured it would be treated properly.
All in this was £600 for two courses each plus two coffees and pre dinner drinks.
It wasn't bad, but it didn't feel special at all, which at that price, with local GST at 5% and not 20% VAT in UK making this equivalent to a £700 meal in London puts it in perspective.
I had a similar experience here about a year ago, so it looks like Samphire and me will be diverging for a while.

For what claims to be one of the best restaurants in Jersey we had a poor experience dining here recently. The food was OK if small portions for the price charged. The decor is terrible and faded and plastic ! Sadly the service was also lacking much charm, care and attention.

The food service was very slow. It took them 45 minutes to serve us the starters. The Jersey crab starter had no crab and just four pieces of tiny sea food portions in an extremely salty bisque, which I had to return and requested a swordfish starter. This dish again had salt to the extreme with a 6cm piece of fish served for the exuberant price of £19/ - . The only tasty dish was the scallops for which we paid £21/- for just four pieces. We were offered a £5/- water bottle which was merely 750ml. Absolute rip off in the name of fresh seafood.

Very disappointed. Main course of cod bit was inedible due to excessive use of salt in the dish. All I could taste was salt. It was overpowering. Despite alerting the waiter to this fact I was offered no alternative nor an apology. Also, the wine waiter was always topping the drinks up in a rush and spilled the wine on my hand a couple of times. I shan't be going there again. Shame when I was so looking forward to it.

Great staff and decor unfortunately the food fell very short of the mark.
The oysters very good.
Swordfish not representative of the menu and contained ingredients not listed, the swordfish portion was chewy and portion size small. A better cooked and simpler piece of swordfish would have been preferred.
The main was beef short rib to share at £85 for 2 to share. You'd expect a cheap cut charged at 100% mark up to wow! Unfortunately it did not.
The meat was on the dry side and loaded with cheese that we felt had no benefit to the plate.
The horseradish and celeriac were a good accompaniment but fell short on taste. The brown sauce was rich and tasty but unfortunately as the rib was so dry a more subtle sauce would have been a more welcome accompaniment.
Wine was good and priced well.

Many thanks to Tom and the rest of the Samphire team for producing delicious “take away” Beef Wellingtons for our Christmas lunch. A particular mention for their amazing generosity in accommodating our eleventh hour request which was brought on by a self-isolation problem that forced us to change our festive plans at the last minute. Your actions perfectly demonstrated the meaning of community spirit in these difficult times and at the appropriate time of the year! Well done!

Outstanding food and service. I had beef tartare which was a very different take with croutons and accompanied by oil infused toast. Not my favourite but you have to admire the idea. The Brill was superb as were the oysters. Our table was talking a lot but the staff were extremely polite in both taking our order and enforcing the Covid19 rules on leaving the restaurant on time.

Beautiful restaurant, decor was so lovely.
We visited for breakfast @10am (pre booked) and initially it was quiet but as it moved towards lunch it filled up very quickly.
The food was excellent quality as were the drinks.

We have heard such amazing things about the food here so booked in advance for 23 December. We were only offered a set menu, whereas on Samphire’s website it states that A La Carte is also offered all of December.
We queried this and the waiter explained it was because it’s 23 December and no other reason. A couple dining next to us who they told us Samphire was offering the set menu because of short staffing.
We would have sympathised with this had been communicated, but we were disappointed that there wasn’t honesty there - and we had looked forward to a meal with the full A La Carte. The food was nice but not what we had hoped for our evening.

Oysters fresh and were better naked without the dressing. Boneless skate poached and served with a cream sauce and pickled claims- nearly perfect. Slightly over seasoned for those with low salt preferences. Vegetarian option of rolled celeriac sheets and mushrooms very clever cooking.

I had the tempura oysters but the batter was not tempura at all (and I lived in Japan for 5 years so pretty familiar with it), more like scampi. And the seasoning on the oysters was so over the top it destroyed any flavour of the oysters.
The lamb was dry and a bit overcooked and flavourings were nothing special.
I was pretty disappointed actually.

We had this reservation for weeks before our trip to Jersey following recommendations, and it certainly didn't disappoint! We had booked breakfast for 9:30, and as it was an early Thursday morning, we had the whole restaurant to ourselves! The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful and the service was fantastic (I know, it should be as we were alone, but still!). I had the GF waffles with maple syrup and they were heavenly. They catered so brilliantly for coeliac but needn't worry as all of the menu was clearly labelled with Gluten Free options and the waffles/pancakes were naturally gluten free. My partner had the eggs Florentine with a side of hash brown, and his face was a picture. Utterly delicious and we both left very happy as our last meal of the holiday!
