We were staying with my daughter and family for a week over New Year and my daughter had booked this restaurant for a family dinner. The food was excellent, we have a variety of tastes in the family from vegan through to meat eaters and there was plenty of choice for everyone. The restaurant was busy as you would expect on a Saturday night but we were served in reasonable time, but it took some time between our order being taken and the starters arriving, perhaps some small appetisers or amuse Bouches would be an idea. However, everyone enjoyed their food to the point that I thought I would return the favour and take everyone back two days later. What a difference! Admittedly we arrived early but we sat for twenty minutes before we had to ask a waitress to take a drinks order from us. We then sat for another twenty minutes before I got up and asked someone at the bar if they could take our food order. I must add that the restaurant was probably only half full on this occasion. Our order was taken and then we sat and waited, and waited and waited. Eventually I got up and asked where our starters were, to be told that they were one down in the kitchen and they had only had my order for 20 minutes! It was now 9 o’clock and our table was booked for 7.30. We finally got our main courses at 9.55! Needless to say we were not happy despite the food once again being excellent. When I questioned the service at the time I was paying the bill the person I spoke to suggested that I phoned the manager the next day. Unfortunately that was not possible as I was leaving the island on New Years Day. My advice to people wanting a good Japanese/ Asian restaurant, definitely try this one but you will need lots of time and patience!

Four of us arrived at the restaurant at exactly 6 pm and the staff had been warned on booking that we were going to a show at 7.30 pm. The service took so long that we only managed a main course. My wife warned them before 7 pm that we had been waiting for a dessert menu for some time. They eventually plonked a menu on the table but never came back until 7.20pm so we just had coffees which we drank as we put our coats on, leaving at 7.27pm. It spoilt what could have been an good experience. What food we did have was excellent and very similar to Wagamama's food on the mainland. The Chefs can clearly do their job,, but the waitressing staff need much better training otherwise this can never be a pre-show eating venue. Doubtless we will try eating here again but never before a follow on event.

This restaurant is in a great location in the heart of St Helier in a fun square. The square has statues of jersey cows and is fun vibrant and full of people having good fun. The restaurant itself is clean and well situated on the side of the square with an outside or an inside dining area available. The sushi is absolutely delicious and the staff were friendly professional and helpful to us when we were ordering the food. The Provence Rose was an excellent choice of wine. I would go again.

1. Services disappointing. Sitting on a table of 6 around 6pm, the restaurant was not busy but yet the service was poor. The waitresses were not friendly and were very slow. Drinks took an hour to arrived, being a fair few drinks I understand it may take some time, however, after asking twice and receiving them an hour later was ridiculous. 2. The food. The food was delicious and would go back if had not of waited an hour and 30 mins. Did have to ask for cutlery, although tables are usually pre set before arrival. 3. Overall. This is the second time I have visited the restaurant and I cannot stand going again after receiving terrible service twice. Not sure if this is because we all looked young and the waitresses may have had preconceived ideas about us “youths” (of 22) but I felt insignificant in comparison to other tables.

Went for a birthday meal over a week ago with friends. We were sat down on a Saturday evening the waitress comes over and said we are changing our menu next week so we don’t have any steak, prawns, oysters mackerel, moules we Looked at each other in a bit of shock. Does this mean on the new menu they are not going to have all these items.. Anyway we decided to have the platter as wasn’t much else available. The waitress asked does anyone have any allergies one said squid the other octopus so the platter comes out and looked amazing, as we were eating it my friend who is allergic to squid picked up thinking it was a piece of lobster and the other one does the same only the find out it was octopus. We called one waitress over and said we had mentioned we were not to have these items on the platter so she called the waitress over to our table who denied that we said that. They became quite rude and no apology what so ever. We carry on dessert menu then came out to say they only a couple of items on the menu so decided to leave it and get the bill where we waited over half an hour again no apology no offer of anything off the bill. The staff couldn’t care unless and none of us will be returning. So many other better Sushi places in Jersey than this place

Just tried to order a take away at 16:45 on Food.je app which showed delivery time of 6pm. 5 mins after ordering I received a call from them saying they will not be able to deliver my food to 8pm earliest. Poor show Soy you do not seem to care about the people that kept you going during lockdown. Well you have lost a customer now.

Unfortunately a very disappointing experience. Food was very mediocre which is a shame as before the lock down it maintained consistency and standard. My Karaage chicken was microwaved. It was not freshly cooked and it was not crispy at all. I would not eat it again. The stake was overcooked. The fries were cold and soggy and not cooked fresh to order. I won't be coming back this summer unless I hear some positive reviews.

Firstly, the food here is fantastic and highly recommended. However waiting an hour between courses somewhat took the edge off the evening. The place was packed, we were told "one chef has been contact-traced and had to leave" but they were short of service staff too. We saw only the manager/owner and 3 others waiting on the whole restaurant which is enormous with a large outside area as well as the restaurant itself and one person behind the bar. The people at the next table also complained of a long wait. If you want to try it then book to get an inside table because outside was full of families and kids running around and was very noisy.

Start with the negative. The service was appalling. Firstly, they claimed that they hadn't got our booking, when we clearly had a response confirming. It then took 40 minutes to be asked for our drink order, the starter and the mains came out all together and when asked what had happened, the staff were very dismissive about the whole thing. The Manager, at least I presume he was, did not seem to care at all and was very abrupt and arrogant. The waiting staff, although polite, just didn't seem to know what was going on at all. The postive; The food here is absolutely amazing. Everything was delicious and the sushi was top quality and well presented. It would be such a great experience if the service had just been up to par. Sadly, it was not a great evening.

Booked a table to eat here on the the 26th October. Arrived at the restaurant to be told our booking hadn’t been put in/confirmed and the restaurant was fully booked that evening, despite being near enough empty inside and out. Having booked, I’d had a reply from the owner asking for the number of people we were booking for, which had all been confirmed. However this didn’t’t seem to be enough for the staff working that evening, who also seemed to indicate it was a common thing with the owner, The man, I presume was the manager proceeded to patronise us about how we should have booked a table and we’d also struggle to eat anywhere else in St Helier that evening without a booking, really the way to rub two people up the wrong way who you’ve just let down. So I’m giving this restaurant a 1* review based on the really crap customer service and management. I won’t be recommending to anyone I know, but I would say, go and eat at one of the restaurants in The Royal Yacht, great food and friendly staff

Food pretty good, but the katzu chicken was over cooked. Problem here is the service. Not a particularly warm welcome from the owner on arrival, staff are pleasant, but can’t cope with the number of tables. Plates left uncleared and waiting too long for orders. No idea why they are persevering with a takeaway service when they can’t cater for face to face customers.

Restaurant location looks fantastic from the west centre but unfortunately doesn’t live up to it. Staff were unable to explain menu and give advice on any parts of it. Many of the items in the menu were unavailable and the teriyaki steak I chose as a main was tough to eat. Music too loud, staff uninformed won’t go back

Have been wanting to try this restaurant especially after having a terrible experience at another place in St Hellier purporting to do sushi and Japanese noodles. Couldn't decide what to order so had the sharing shashimi platter and chef's choice sushi for two of us (which inevitably meant take out) - the sashimi was unnecessary but the quickest thing to get started eating. The sushi took about 40 minutes to prepare (40 pieces of sushi). It was absolutely delicious. The fish was fresh and tasty the sushi were perfect. Literally cannot fault food. Service was not intrusive. Really pleased to have found somewhere that serves good, appetising Japanese food - lovely atmosphere and decor too. Sorry no photos, it was just so good I forgot to get a photo!!

I love the sushi here every time I visit. There is always a wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff and attentive service. The sushi is faultless and although I love the old menu, the new menu has some amazing new sushi rolls. I highly recommend the new tamagoshi roll, as well as the delicious classics; kaizen, dragon roll and spicy tuna. The salmon sashimi and nigiri were divine as they always are here and melts in the mouth, full of flavour. Truly delicious sushi that won’t be found elsewhere on the island. 🍣 🥰
