First class food and service.
Thank you for an amazing experience. We had the full tasting menu for a very special occasion plus a surprise for my Mum. We had the wine to accompany the food and the sommelier was perfectly balanced between educating us and helping us to find the best part of the wine to accompany our food, he also adapted as he went along when he learnt about our taste which we didn’t ask for! AMAZING service. The food was second to none, classy, delicious flavours and the perfect size and value. I absolutely loved the finishing touch of the ice cream parlour at the end (you must go even if it’s just for this!!!) thank you Chefs!!! Laurence looked after us from the second we walked in. He was kind, genuinely caring and did everything the could to make our afternoon as special as possible effortlessly. We had some others join us mid way through (my dad, his chairwoman and her husband) who wanted to join for a quick salad. Laurence made this happen and although we were being nightmare customers by asking for this, he made it happen, quickly, without any fuss and again made every one of us feel like royalty. Dimitri also deserves a massive 🙌🏻🙌🏻 he was charming, knowledgeable and again made us feel fabulous. Thank you to Bohemia and the team. One of the best experiences I have ever had eating out in Jersey.

A cold, wet & windy day in St Helier does not really get your gastro juices flowing at lunchtime....unless of course, it is a lunch at Bohemia!
We were on a short break in Jersey and had a pre-booked lunch at Bohemia as part of our 'deal' - not the sort of thing we would normally do!
Oh how delighted we were that we did...we were welcomed and felt genuinely at home, as soon as we stepped over the threshold.
The maître went out of his way with charm, warmth and guidance, leaving us in the very capable hands of Valerie to serve and delight us with the chef's very talented, tasty and generally scrumptious offerings as we sailed happily on our luncheon journey:)
The pace was perfect and we left having fully satisfied our hunger, our palettes and our very souls in the process.
Thanks to all the team at Bohemia - we will revisit you on our next stay in Jersey !

The Bohemia Restaurant is as good as it ever was. There have been some changes of course, but the level of service, the cuisine and the general ambiance remains unchanged and undiminished. Our welcome as impeccable and friendly, our pre dinner drinks were absolutely perfect.
The menu selections are superb, two of us selected the Tasting Menu, fantastic value for what is on offer. Many courses each one an explosion of flavours and indeed subtle tastes. At first glance with so many courses it appears intimidating, however it certainly was not. There is sufficient time between the courses to savour the food and the shear pleasure of the meal.
The service too is absolutely impeccable with the team being both discrete and friendly, a difficult balance to achieve. The wine list is extensive, not cheap but great value, it does not get better than this. Try it to relieve the tedium of COVID!

We switched from the 3 course menu to the taster menu with the wine flight as it was a special weekend away.
The restaurant is boring to say the least, cheap cutlery and even cheaper glasses. The tables aren’t laid out they provide cutlery with every course.
For a Michelin started restaurant it was a huge disappointment. The table wasn’t swept between each course , the waiting staff were nice but read everything off script.
The courses were well executed but underwhelming.
We were given one mon bouchée which wasn’t very generous. We were offered the cheese trolly before desert but not advised it was at an additional charge .
The wine flight was well thought out but expensive for what was provided.
To end the evening my partner paid the bill and didn’t want me to know how much as it was a surprise treat. Upon returning to the room he conspired the cost to other restaurants we had visited and on closer inspection we had paid the wrong bill - which was considerably more !
We contacted reception who said they had thought there had been a mistake and they had refunded the card. They still had over charged us nobody apologised or contacted us thought our stay or after.
We’ve eaten there now but wouldn’t return

Having extensively researched restaurants in Jersey, we were excited to visit Bohemia on the second night of our stay. We’ve dined at many Michelin star restaurants previously are are adept with the standard of service and food required to meet this level of prestige.
We arrived early for our booking with a view to having a pre dinner drink. Upon arrival we were looked at by one employee stood at the bar and ignored before another scrambled to take our name (which took him a long time to find in the booking records). We were ushered to a table in the bar area and ordered some cocktails. The service by the bar staff and the cocktails were great- I had an excellent Mojito and my husband had a G&T. During the time sat at the bar we noticed other guests were being offered the food menu before being taken to their seats. We sat for well over an hour and nobody acknowledged us at all. We decided that we would ask for the bill and leave. When the front of house staff heard this request they promptly arrived at the table to give us a food menu. Unlike any other high quality restaurant, no time was taken to explain any aspect of the menu at all, we were even told “there’s also a secret menu” with zero explanation as to what this might comprise of. We were then left for a further half an hour. In this time we had become so annoyed with waiting and the poor service that we decided to pay for our drinks and leave, concluding that as the night had already been marred by the terrible front of house service that we wouldn’t have enjoyed a meal we would be paying good money for. One of the biggest disappointments is that when the supposed maitre d came over and we told him we would not be staying he didn’t once seek to find out why we had decided to leave, he just took the menu and disappeared. Instead of getting the bill as per our request, he left us at the table whilst he cancelled our booking on Open Table and we eventually resorted to going to the bar to pay for our drinks... An absolute let down of an experience.

I was one of a party of nine who visited for a special occasion lunch on 4th September. We all opted for the three course set menu. I had previously visited the restaurant approximately a dozen times and had always enjoyed the experience. This however was my first visit since the appointment of the new head chef.
After an unmemorable terrine starter, I, together with four other members of our party had chosen a main course of braised short rib of beef. In appearance it was dark in colour and sandwiched between two layers of unattractive and clearly inedible fat. I had expected the meat to be juicy, unctuous, intense in flavour and to melt in the mouth. The reality was that it was flavourless, dry, as tough as old boots and needed a very firm sawing action to break into it. I was prepared to voice a complaint but was beaten to doing so by the Maitre D, enquiring as to how our food was. I told him that I thought it was absolutely appalling. My fellow beef eaters concurred. If it had been served to me in a low end pub it would have been sent back.
After disappearing to the kitchen to speak to the chef the Maitre D returned with some excuse about their suppliers having let them down with poor quality meat. As compensation we were offered an additional cheese course. On reflection we should have insisted on a significant price reduction. With wine our lunch bill exceeded £100 a head!
This is a one star Michelin restaurant (albeit not for much longer I suspect - I note that as I am writing this review it only scrapes into the Trip Advisor top fifty island restaurants). The responsibility for the food rests solely with the head chef and I have to question why he did not take it upon himself to personally apologise to our party, and moreover, why did he allow food of such a poor standard to leave his kitchen in any event? Did he not taste it? And if he did, did he think we wouldn’t notice?
As a footnote, after the meal we chose to stay in the bar for a drink and were offered a reserved sofa area in the corner. After ten minutes of waiting for someone to take our order, one of our party went up to the bar to ask the barman if he could chase up a waiter. A further five minutes passed with no progress so we upped and left.
It will be some considerable time before I consider returning. We all wondered if this was some form of reprisal to our having dared to complain about the food. All in all my high expectations of an enjoyable culinary experience were thoroughly laid to waste.

What a disappointing experience.
Arrived, greeted, coats taken and we were left waiting, (although we could have been seated and then coats taken away), looking completely lost.
Restaurant is nicely furnished with high quality furniture, glassware and tableware.
Ordered two glasses of champagne and our starters and main course and was left with the wine list which was moved “out of the way” by another waiter and when reminded we were still waiting to order wine replied “you can now”!!!! - even though good had arrived before the wine order even taken!
Food, bar a strange basil and lemon dessert, was of high quality and beautifully presented but served with such attitude it took the edge of the meal. For avoidance of doubt it was the male waiters in suits that had the attitude.
Left many times without water or wine top ups to deserve Michelin accreditation.
When asked if meal was okay and told “no” there was no interest as to why and the suited waiter said “I can take it off the bill”, missing the point entirely around finding out why.
Suggested the service charge went to the young female waitress who did seem to enjoy her job.
Perhaps Jersey has so few rated restaurants that this place survives but when the waiter can’t give you an email address to send in comments and “hasn’t met the owner” I’d suggest giving this place a wide berth.

Ate a three course lunch which was divine. Started with a duck egg which was fried in breadcrumbs with varius sauces and absolutely beautifully cooked. I followed this with short rib beef which was off the bone and again beautifully cooked and presented. The whole meal was outstanding. The staff were gracious and attentive - I did, however, find the proceedings of service a tad theatrical.

Had three course COVID compliant takeaway this week end. Collect pre prepped ingredients to finish at home with all garnishes and clear cooking instructions. Crab ravioli, beef short rib and cherry cremeaux plus cheese were our four courses, all collected in a bespoke delivery box, very well presented. £38 for three courses, cheese extra.
Great initiative by Bohemia and really enjoyable as change from Lockdown tedium. Can’t wait to return when restaurant opens, but would recommend this takeaway experience. Find latest menu on Bohemia Facebook

I absolutely love it here and it’s always a treat when I visit. Bohemia is stylish, it has a cool understated ambience (not stuffy), but you do receive first class service, uniformed waiting staff, cool music and great cocktails. Considering the COVID situation all staff wear masks and we were seated comfortably away from all other diners. The food is exceptional, tasting menus are creative and delicious and every little detail counts, whether is warm baked bread, seaweed butter, or the tiny presentation boxes for some of the dishes you should, if you enjoy food and are happy to pay for the experience then you should very much enjoy your visit. We can’t fault it, wine, champagne, tasting menu all were outstanding. Thank you

Food was outstanding. The presentation was top notch, the full high camp affair that you’d expect from a Michelin star restaurant. We did the mystery tasting menu which at £69 a head for 6 courses, particularly on the Channel Islands is really quite reasonable, which I’d recommend. Staff were friendly and consummate professionals, very knowledgable on their food and drinks pairings. Lots of local produce on the menu, the mini ice cream parlour is a fun addition as well!

We dined at Bohemia on the last night of our week in Jersey. We chose the surprise tasting menu with the addition of the cheese course. The first three courses were sublime, in particular the slow cooked hen’s egg with pea and mint flavours and the foie gras parfait being outstanding. As was the rest of our menu. Our evening was enhanced by the informative and friendly front of house staff and the sommelier. Although we didn’t chose his recommended wine I think he forgave us to such an extent that I accepted his choice of port at £19 per glass, due to his manner and joviality. It was a lovely and memorable evening. Big thanks to all staff at the restaurant.

A terrible experience on 2 occasions
This reservation was booked for 10 people for an afternoon tea for a hen party a while ago, i even called the night before and again on the morning to check everything was all set up and if we could come to decorate the table etc.
I arrived 30 minutes early to ask reception if the table was ready for us, the women said yes the table is set for 10 people outside on the terrace as we had requested, however when the time of our reservation came we not only had to walk through a 5 year olds birthday party but there was no table for us.
The gentlemen working seemed clueless and said he had not heard about our reservation which i was shocked about as i had checked 30 minutes ago!! There was a baby shower with a nicely set table which he said was probably ours, so he tried to pull together 2 wobbly tables and think that was ok
We had to ask for a table cloth to be put on the table and we asked if he could give us the correct amount of chairs for the amount of people we had booked.
Around 20 minutes later they served us afternoon tea and we had to ask for a napkin and some knifes to eat it with , we had only been given a plate.
We had to ask for some drinks , we had a bottle but it was dumped on the bench behind us and i had to get up to serve everybody there drinks / top up the drinks.
Nobody came and checked on us for the next hour , we didn’t have any option to order more drinks like we would have liked too, this was really disappointing. As nobody came by we had to go inside to ask for the bill as we wanted to leave, but nobody came to take the payment so all 10 of us had to walk downstairs to the bar to make the payment.
The same thing happened a few weeks ago when 6 of us came for drinks in the bar, the bottle was left on the table and not poured for us, no body comes over to ask if you want another drink you have to go up to the bar and ask while the staff all stand around chatting.
The man working gave us the bill and said he was going home soon (around 9pm) we hadn’t even asked for the bill or finished our drinks, we did not plan to leave so early.

You are preparing for a really special week away. You look up the best restaurant in jersey weeks ahead. It comes up with Bohemia. You then book it receiving a confirmation and a follow up a few days before. You then turn up only to be told the restaurant is closed but you can have bar food. This has been my experience tonight! An absolute disaster. I then ask to see the manager to find out what has happened and am sort of introduced to a work experience ‘manager’ who spent her time smirking at me and telling me there was no one on site who could talk to me. If this is the best in jersey god help jersey. Thanks for a ruined evening Bohemia.

For our last night in St Helier before moving out to the countryside we decided to try the island's only Michelin starred restaurant. We opted for the tasting menu with the wine float. The best part was the bread rolls. They didn't even seem to serve local produce. It was five different coloured sauces on a plate with one inch cubed piece of potato. The wine cost us £59 each, We got the most minuscule glasses imaginable. The five glasses would probably add up to one small glass of wine. They weren't even very good. The first course was something green with something white floating in the middle of it. The second course was described by one of the holidaymakers as posh cheese on toast. There was nothing recognisable as food, just sauces. We were seated between two holidaymaker couples, each less than 18 inches away. No social distancing whatsoever. Everything you ate or drank was preceded by a long explanation from someone of what it was. We will never go back there. The bill for two came in at just under three hundred pounds.
