We went early on New Years Eve so there was a set menu - 3 courses £55. I was disappointed that the only oysters on offer were cold and I love their hot ones. Despite that it was an excellent meal. The seafood Fritto misto was beautifully cooked and delicious and the main course of brill was wonderful. The raspberry and lemon curd meringue with coconut sorbet was “out of this world”. The service was efficient and discreet, perhaps a little too restrained for my liking - I enjoy a bit of rapport with the waiters and waitresses but they were pleasant enough.

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us a review. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your visit on New Year’s Eve, although we’re sorry to hear of your disappointment at the lack of hot oysters on our New Year menu. This place is an absolute gem. Very popular so requires booking in advance. We saw a number of 'walk-ins' get turned away because the place was full and this was midweek. Situated on St. Brelade's Bay, it's location is just idyllic. Seafood is its raison d'etre and it does not disappoint. A wide-ranging menu and generous portions. One certainly does not go away from here feeling hungry. Excellent service and helpful staff. Great atmosphere and delightful surroundings. It is not the cheapest place to eat but the quality and freshness of the food justifies the price tag. Absolutely recommended.

Unlike the neighbouring 'Crab Shack' the Oyster Box is definitely designed for business and hot dates. The portions are modest and the food very sea-food based. Their oysters are certainly very good! The only problem with the place is it doesn't seem completely worth the premium on the bill? The food is good, but not THAT good. If you have money to burn this is definitely somewhere to stop in Jersey, especially because it's probably one of the nicer restaurants outside of St Helier, but unfortunately for us normal-folk, it is not a luxury I can justify more than once in a blue moon.

Thank you for your comments about Oyster Box. It's lovely to hear that you enjoy our signature oysters, and that you would recommend us to those looking for a restaurant out of town. We do take on board your comments about value: we try to provide the best value possible for the food, location, and service that we provide, but we understand that eating out in Jersey can be expensive, and your comments are a great reminder for us to always look to give the best value possible in all that we do.

Warm welcome by the well trained and courteous staff. Bar area has some very uncomfortable wicker chairs...avoid if possible. Menu uninspiring and fixed for NYE, priced at £55 per person. Chose the Fritto Misto which was mainly squid with two prawns. Looked suspiciously like a frozen selection bag of Fritto Misto and the coating had an unpleasant aftertaste. Only main which appealed was the roast chicken with mashed potato. The potato was excellent, the chicken was not. Decent cheese selection. Wine we chose was a very agreeable Muscadet and a lovely Burgundy. My major complaint is the awful practice of charging for bread etc, given the relatively high prices charged there is no need to antagonise your patrons by charging for bread. Very good staff.

We are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your meal at Oyster Box on New Year’s Eve. The quality of our food is very important to us: our dishes are prepared to order, and we train our staff thoroughly in how to prepare each dish, so we are disappointed that you did not enjoy the Fritto Misto or the chicken when you dined with us. We hope that you informed the duty manager about your concerns after your meal, as we encourage our managers to address problems before our customers leave the restaurant. If the duty manager was unable to help, please contact our head office by clicking ‘Customer Feedback’ on our JPRestaurants website so we can investigate, revert to you and hopefully address your concerns. Arrived early so asked if we could have a drink first. We were seated at a table hidden away in a corner. We waited 10 minutes and no service so I went to the bar to ask for menus. Then another 10 minutes until I had to go to the bar yet again to ask them to take the drinks order. A few other couples who arrived after us were being fussed over and served before us and I can only guess they were local and regular as they seemed to know all of the staff. After this I then had to go to the bar for the third time to ask what time our table would be ready, Bearing in mind we had now been here for an hour! We were then shown to our table which was literally wedged between several tables and from which we could barely move from to go to the toilet as it was so tight. We ordered starters which arrived about 20 minutes later and my seafood bisque was cold! After this we then waited nearly 40 minutes for our main course by which time we felt we were no longer hungry. I chose the hot beef salad which was stone cold and barely cooked. I asked for it to be cooked further and they took it away and brought it back exactly the same. I asked again and was told that the chef was French and cooks everything ‘blue’. Surely this should be on the menu or explained beforehand? By the time I got my main course it was so late that I ate it and left without a desert. It seems to me that unless you are a local spending tons of money, then you aren’t really worthy of being there as you are basically ignored.

We're disappointed to see that the service wasn't up to your expectations during your visit. At Oyster Box, we strive to give professional, attentive and welcoming service to everyone, irrespective of whether they’re a tourist or a local; a first-time guest, or our most loyal customer. Our service can occasionally be a little slower at busy times (especially at the moment, with the recruitment difficulties after the pandemic), but we should always be friendly and warm, so we're really sorry that this wasn't the case when you dined with us. We would love to be able to look into this further to make sure we address the issues with our service - please do feel free to get in touch with us so that we can try to resolve this for you. You can contact us via our website, or via our feedback survey (emailed to you after your visit).

Positives: the view and certain serving staff Negatives: over priced, poorly cooked and unimaginatively presented food; poor attitude from some staff. Interestingly claimed they were fully booked (3 free tables outside as well as a number indoors) and seemed to turn away a walk-in family based on their dress. Would not recommend other than for a glass of chilled white wine overlooking a lovely bay.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your visit and found our food overpriced: we regularly benchmark our prices against local competitors, and find that our prices are generally very similar. This is especially the case when a tip or service charge at other establishments is taken into consideration: we don't accept tips (and instead pay our team a Living Wage, plus additional incentive payments), so the price on our menu is the price you pay, with nothing extra added at the end. As well as our approach to paying staff, our prices also reflect other initiatives, that we think help to enhance our customers' experience (including using only high quality, responsibly sourced ingredients; investing in our environment; and keeping our restaurants up-to-date and comfortable). We appreciate that dining out in Jersey can be expensive (especially following Brexit/covid-related price increases), but we always do our best to provide the best possible value for what we offer. We'd be happy to explain the rationale behind our pricing in more detail. Please do just get in touch with us via our website or via our feedback survey (emailed to you after your visit), and we'll be really happy to respond to any of your concerns. With respect to comments on our the food, our group executive head chef reviews all feedback with our kitchen team and he will follow up your feedback with them. Mistakes do happen (with ourselves and suppliers) but we should be addressing them in the restaurant if you are not happy with a dish. I am sorry your server didn't pick up on this. Please do mention it any time you have a poor dish or one that does not live up to expectations and we will gladly address the problem with a replacement. Your experience while not acceptable is not the norm and our feedback is generally very good for our food. We encourage direct feedback via our Duty Manager, our emailed review form sent after you dined and it is rare issues can't be addressed. We never turn away peopel based on their appearance. In common with many restaurants accross Jersey and the UK, their is a shortage of staff with 188,000 hospitality vacancies. We are working hard topp recruit but limit numbers on some days to ensure we provide the best servcie possible.

My husband and I arrived in Jersey to celebrate both our birthdays. Hubbys 1st Sept and myself 2nd. On our first day we explored the local area checking out places to go, menus etc. The oyster box looked fabulous great location and gorgeous decor not to mention the menu so we were very excited. On website there was no availability so we tried to call…… they dont take calls or return messages …… so we went again the following day in person only to be greeted or not so by literally the rudest front of house ever. The restaurant was not busy and despite it being 2.45 and only two of us wanting a light lunch we got swiftly and rudely rejected. I appreciate there appears to be somewhat a staffing crisis across the island however this was not handled well or explained to us in any way - we were simply kicked out the door with no alternative options!!!! VERY disappointing experience to what could have been fantastic - shameful

We're sorry to hear that you weren't able to dine with us during your visit to Jersey. We are often fully booked several days in advance - our website is linked to our live reservations calendar, so it always shows our latest availability. We are also sorry that you weren't able to get through to us by phone - as we are short staffed, we are often unable to take calls during service, however we do have a telephone booking system that will allow you to make a reservation via our voicemail when we can't take calls. We appreciate that it'd be much better to have staff available to take calls at all times, but as you have acknowledged in your review, there is indeed a staff shortage in the island, so we sadly don't have capacity for this at the moment. Our kitchen closes after our last sitting at 2pm, so we wouldn't have been able to serve you if you arrived at 2.45pm. The opening hours are displayed on our website, and outside the restaurant, so we are sorry if you were disappointed, and if our team were rude when explaining that we wouldn't be able to serve you. We'll review this with the restaurant manager to make sure that our opening hours are politely explained to guests in future, and that visitors are given the option to book for another day if we are not able to serve them when they arrive. It has been a very difficult time for Hospitality businesses, and we are sorry that you were disappointed and felt the need to leave a negative review. Like Jersey's other restaurants and hotels, we are doing our utmost to continue giving guests the best possible experience, in the face of huge challenges. We don't always get things right, but we hope the recent positive reviews here illustrate that we are still great at doing what we do best: providing delicious food in beautiful surroundings.

We arrived having booked on line to be told that we didn’t have a booking and then later that we had cancelled our booking, neither of which was true. Shown to a nice window table but the table was extremely unstable and needed fixing. We solved this ourselves by keeping our feet firmly on the bottom of the pedestal. My husband has an onion allergy however we were told by a good another strident waitress that onions are not to be of the 14 allergies recognised by the restaurant . We then asked if certain elements of the dish could simply be left off the plate but were once again firmly told about restaurant policy and that every dish had to be a exactly as described on the menu and no exceptions were made. Whilst I would accept this as policy at a fast food outlet such as MacDonalds at £35 per head per main course it seems distinctly un customer focused. Basically take it or leave it. We had intended to have a three course meal but were made to feel so unwelcome that we had a main course each and left. The prices of the desserts were simply silly...£14.50 for strawberries and ice cream. This is formulaic fast food at highly inflated prices and a deeply disappointing dining experience. I last ate here in 2018 and left a really good review but this experience means that we won’t bother to go back when next staying in St Brelades and will advise friends and family not to bother either.

We're sorry to hear of your poor experience at Oyster Box. Having checked our records, I can see that you had made a booking on 25th April. However, our reservation system shows that this was cancelled by you shortly after the reservation was made, using the 'cancel' button in the confirmation email we sent to you. We appreciate that it can be easy to accidentally click the link, or that there may have been some kind of glitch with our system - we're very sorry for any confusion. We are also sorry to hear of your disappointment regarding our approach to allergens. We closely monitor the allergen content for all our ingredients for the 14 main food allergens (as recognised by the Food Standards Agency). Unfortunately, it simply wouldn't be possible to monitor in this level of detail for every single food: allergens outside of the 14 main allergens are not always declared by suppliers, and it is already a considerable undertaking for our team to collate the allergen, 'may contain', and cross-contamination risk for the main 14. We unfortunately wouldn't have the capacity to collect this level of information for every single potential allergen for every ingredient in our kitchens. Our allergen approach is also part of the reason why we request that guests do not make changes to dishes. Any changes may introduce new allergens, and may put customers at risk: by removing or swapping ingredients, guests may believe that they are removing the allergen - but that same allergen could be hidden within another element, or as a 'may contain' in another ingredient. As an example, shallots are used in many of our sauces - so while we could remove onions from a dish, without completing a full allergen assessment, it would be very hard to know whether there could still be onions or onion traces present. For this reason, we request that guests with a common food allergy (one of the main 14) choose a complete dish from our allergen menu, to make sure it doesn't contain the relevant food. The allergen menu has been fully risk assessed by our team, using supplier, storage, and cooking method information. We then have a full allergen process to minimise cross-contamination risks when preparing their meal. For guests with an allergy that isn't one of the main 14, we can't offer the same level of precaution - it simply wouldn't be possible to go through every ingredient, packet, and recipe in our kitchen during service to check for an allergen. We will always make a good faith effort to help find something suitable, but we can never guarantee that traces of an allergen won't be present, and we understand if guests with a severe allergy that's not one of the main 14 choose not to eat with us. We're sorry for your disappointment during your visit, and we appreciate the difficulty that dining out with a food allergy can present. We would love it if we could please every guest, all of the time, but we hope that our response helps to explain why this sadly isn't always possible. Please do feel free to get in touch with us directly if you would like to discuss your comments further, or if you have any additional feedback. You can contact us via our website, or through our feedback survey (sent to you via email after your visit).

The setting is fantastic. The staff are friendly although there is a slight air of pretentiousness about the place matched by the staff. The food was reasonable but as was pointed out prior to the visit, you are paying for the location as the product doesn’t match the price. Nice food but nothing special

Thank you for taking the time to leave your thoughts. We're disappointed to hear that your visit was just ok - we want all of our guests to have a memorable and enjoyable experience with us, so we're sorry that we didn't achieve that when you dined at Oyster Box. Please do feel free to get in touch with us should you have any comments about what we could have done better. We really value all feedback from our guests, as it helps us to improve and ensure we give the best experience possible. With regards to our pricing, we do try to give the best possible value for the food, location and service that we provide. We regularly benchmark our pricing against local competitors, and we find that our prices are usually very similar; especially when a tip or service charge is taken into account. We are one of very few hospitality businesses in Jersey that pay our team a Living Wage, plus incentive payments instead of tips, so that everything is taken care of in our menu pricing and there's no need to add anything at the end. We feel this is better for our team (as they don't need to rely on tips to make ends meet) and more transparent for guests, but we appreciate that it may mean our prices look a little higher.

We booked dinner here during our break in Jersey. The restaurant has a great location on the seafront right by the beach at St Brelades. The oysters we had here were among the best we sampled whilst on the island, I would definitely recommend this place for oysters (appropriately named). We ordered crab linguine and lobster for mains, both were nice but perhaps not as good as some other restaurants we visited during our stay. It felt quite commercialised but never the less we enjoyed our meal and would probably visit again.

I called the waiter Over and said dad asked for no oil or butter he took my potatoes away he didn’t take my plates with my fish and the vegetables that had the oils on them away he came back with the potatoes Again with lots of oil on I was not happy. When the waiter came to clear our plates I explained to him that I could not eat my potatoes all my vegetables my partner he ate them all I had was a piece of fish I was still hungry we shared a cheeseboard and we had a bottle of wine the bill was £134 not acceptable. I sent in a review explaining how disappointed I was. They said that they would refund the money for the vegetables back onto our card they also gave us a £20 credit note to use next time there will not be a next time why would we want to go back to this place. It’s overpriced and they don’t listen to customers requests such as food allergies !!!

We repeat our apology again. We had hoped to address this directly but you felt the need to post so we will repeat the email we sent to you in response to your email. One further point we would make is that we have a strict allergen policy and had your requst for no oil or butter been flagged as an allergy (which it wasn't) we would have ensured our allergen process was followed. For more information please see " https://jprestaurants.com/food-allergy-policy" Thank you for taking the time to write to us, and for completing our feedback survey following your meal at Oyster Box. We were so sorry to hear that you were disappointed. "Dear Lily At Oyster Box, we aim to give all guests an enjoyable, memorable, and relaxing experience. We train our teams thoroughly to produce food to the highest possible standard; and give service training to our front of house staff to try to ensure our service is always accurate, professional, and friendly. We acknowledge that we do, still, occasionally make mistakes: despite our training, team members can sometimes get things wrong, or miscommunication or misunderstandings can occur. This is unfortunate, but sadly inevitable on the rare occasion. When any mistakes happen, though, we always aim for them to be resolved on the day, so that the guest's experience is rectified. We are very disappointed that the issues with your potatoes and vegetables were not resolved, and that you left Oyster Box feeling unhappy with your experience. Both of your dishes should have been returned to the kitchen for the potatoes and vegetables to be replaced, and for the fish to be kept warm in the meantime. We're very sorry that this didn't happen, and we will review this with the restaurant manager to make sure that any such problems are resolved more effectively in the future. I have requested that both portions of Jersey Royals are refunded back to you, as a token of apology for the issue with your potatoes and vegetables. I trust that you enjoyed the hake, but completely appreciate that the accompaniments not being to your expectations will have marred your enjoyment of the overall experience. The refund for the side orders of potatoes will return to the original payment card used; please note that it will take a short while for your bank to process, but should return to the card within approximately 5 working days. We would also like to offer you the attached £20 voucher as a small gesture of goodwill, so that you can have something on us if you ever visit Oyster Box again in the future. Should you decide to give us another try, please just show this voucher to your server before you pay, so that they can ensure this amount is removed from your bill. We hope that, if you visit us again, you will have a more enjoyable experience. I understand from your feedback that you do not live in Jersey, but you are very welcome to use the voucher at any of our restaurants if you are still in the island. If you have returned from your visit, please do feel free to use the voucher if you ever come back to Jersey. It’s valid for 6 months, but we can also issue you a new one if you won’t be back to the island until after then. If this applies, please just request a new voucher before your next visit to Jersey by replying to this email, or by contacting us. We hope that this helps to resolve your concerns, but if you have any further feedback or wish to discuss anything further, then please do not hesitate to get in touch. You can use the happy or sad face icons below to indicate whether you are satisfied with our response to your feedback, or can reply to this message to give us any additional comments. Thank you again for taking the time to give us your feedback, and for your visit to Oyster Box. Very popular venue, buzzing with vitality but then it has little competition since covid. Service is good but food of average quality and fish dishes are small portions and expensive. There are better restaurants for less cost on Jersey.

We holiday in Jersey every year staying at St Brelade’s Bay Hotel. The Oyster Box has always been one of our preferred restaurants and this year we booked to eat there twice during our stay. The prices had increased considerably but we are pleased to say both of our visits didn’t disappoint. It is a beautiful setting with friendly, efficient staff and the food was delicious. There was no problem for our teenage daughters to order from the children’s menu as they aren’t big eaters. Wine was reasonably priced and desserts which we don’t usually order were something special. We would definitely recommend eating at the Oyster Box. It’s a real treat.

We acknowledge your feedback regarding our pricing: we now include service in our prices so that we can pay our team a higher wage and incentive bonuses instead of tips. This means there's no need to add a tip or service charge at the end of the meal, but we acknowledge that it does make the menu prices look higher. We have, in some instances, also had to increase pricing to cover increased costs, as costs have risen for many ingredients following Brexit, the pandemic, and events in Ukraine. We believe that we still offer good value for the memorable experiences we aim to create, and we are really pleased to read that you enjoyed your meals with us. We hope that you enjoyed the rest of your visit to Jersey, and look forward to welcoming you back again on your next Jersey holiday.

Had a beautiful meal here while visiting Jersey to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and valued as a customer. Started with a lovely cocktail sitting in the outside area. We were then guided to our table for an outstanding meal. All the food was fresh and well presented. The restaurant seemed quite busy although we didn’t wait long for our food but it also did not feel that we were hurried and was allowed plenty of time to enjoy our meal. We had wanted a special and memorable meal on the day of our anniversary and The Oyster Box certainly didn’t disappoint. With such a beautiful setting of St Brelades Bay and the outstanding quality of the service and food, I would highly recommend The Oyster Box as a place for a truly memorable occasion

It was my wife and my fifty first wedding anniversary and we chose the Oyster Box for this special occasion. We were certainly not disappointed. From the moment we walked in the door the welcome was positive and the Covid-19 precautions excellent, from the taking of out temperatures in a very non invasive manner to logging in. The menu was sufficiently extensive in order to provide suitable choices for all, without being overwhelming. The specials were mainly fish based as one might expect in this restaurant. My wife selected the Tuna, which she said was delicious and certainly looked it! Very rare and tasty she said. My lobster thermidor was sublime, the best that I have ever eaten, back to the early days of the old Jersey Potteries in a good way! Our server Nicki, was brilliant, bubbly and really friendly and helpful, an absolute treat to share some time. The wine too was super, Minuety rose from Provence. All in all the meal was perfect, not inexpensive but good food cannot be cheap, there is of course a small premium to pay as all of the team are paid the Living Wage, not the minimum, well done for that! We shall return!
