Glorious food presented in an unpretentious way in a small homely restaurant. The house red was very much to our taste, and the focaccia roll meltingly delicious. If in St Aubin make sure to book a meal here.
Had a lovely evening here. A small restaurant with lovely service and fab food. Prawn risotto, ribs, steak and zucchini fritti all delicious. Loved the homemade honey and ginger ice cream!
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Bracewell's. We were warmly welcomed by name after phoning ahead to book. We were given complementary foccacia that was freshly baked and absolutely delicious. We ordered tiger prawns and sirloin which were both so generous in size with lovely...vegetables. Irish coffee and the flourless chocolate cake with green tea ice cream were wonderful. The whole visit was so enjoyable and relaxed. The lady who runs the restaurant was so friendly and it was a quirky, interestingly decorated and spotlessly clean restaurant. Would highly recommend. Thanks for a lovely final evening in St Aubin.More
We had a great experience in this restaurant! The food was amazing, the fish was so fresh and tasty and was all cooked perfectly. Nice to have something a bit different to the usual things we've seen elsewhere. The service in here was second to...none. My husband has several food allergies and they catered for him perfectly so we didn't need to worry about a thing. The lady was extremely kind and the food came very promptly even though the restaurant was full. Would recommend booking in advance as this place fills up quickly. Hidden gem, 10/10 would recommend.More
Very average experience overall, would not go back. Mashed potatoes had (very) hard pieces of potatoes. Portion of cod was huge, but not very tasty. Disappointed to see that the fishes served (cod and salmon) were not local but from Scotland. And surprisingly, no oyster...in the menu… in Jersey!!More
Bracewells is behind the Main Street and hidden from view, but don’t let that put you off. It’s a quirky cute little place with some lovely touches. The menu offers options to get your dish as a starter or main, complementary focaccia roll to start...and some nice wines. All the meals are cooked by the chef in view of the restaurant and served by his wife; a great team. A friendly efficient pair, I wish we had time to come back again. The salmon sashimi was so tasty and the scallops were amazing, as were the tiger prawns and the risotto. The side order of zucchini fritters were so light and fluffy- perfect. Do look them out, it’s definitely worth it.More
Me & my boyfriend decided to try this place as I’ve recently moved to Beaumont (15 min walk from the restaurant) and trying to explore the area as were usually st helier people. Wow. When we got there, it was quiet and my boyfriend asked...me why I’d booked. Soon enough it was busy and the food was LOVELY. I’ve eaten in some of the best restaurants in the uk, Michelin star and alike and this is up there. We had the prawns to start. (Wanted the scallops but were out of stock) And the plaice and duck for mains. Absolutely beauty and the accompaniments were great, albeit unusual. My boyfriend was made up that they sold zucchini fritti. The homemade ginger and honey ice cream was incredible. Already rebooked!More
Wonderful food, imaginatively cooked (thoroughly recommend the Wakame seaweed starter, black butter ice cream ) and very reasonably priced.
Thoroughly disappointed with the well-reviewed but actually bog standard Tides, I was really looking forward to visiting Bracewell's - small, independent, interesting, well-reviewed. We enjoyed some lovely, fresh locally-sourced food - goats cheese starter, plaice fillets - as well as friendly, efficient, attentive service -...but, for me, personally, some of the quirky menu options didn't work. Honey features extensively on the menu, and if I see it with fish in the future, I'll avoid. The cheesy, wasabi ice cream, I'll admit I didn't try. Perhaps you will, and discover it's a taste sensation, but I couldn't help but remember that woman from The Vicar of Dibley. There's bold and adventurous and then there's.. Well, that's up to you to decide, I guess. A number of our fellow diners appeared less than enamoured with their food. Perhaps they were just fussy, too. Like I said, I really wanted to like this place...More
Beautifully cooked food clearly created with passion , excellent service in a very intimate setting.
Such a friendly welcome, lovely and quaint decoration and the menu was a welcome change from all of the others we had tried in St Aubin. Each of our 3 dishes were delicious and didn’t conform to what we expected, the chef is a marvel,...the service and ambience were top notch and we thoroughly enjoyed our whole experience and would love to visit again. My husband enjoyed his birthday treat, thank you 💕More
What a gem- great food in a cosy relaxed setting. We had a super evening so our thanks go to the team at Bracewells.
Every visit to this great little restaurant at the bottom of the High Street is an occasion as the food is amazing. No complaints on service or food. Always a smile and a chat from the owners to make you feel welcome.
For reasons unknown my review of three weeks ago wasn't added so here it is again. We found the food here to be the best in St Aubins Bay (and Jersey!). It is small, homely and seemed to be run by one extremely friendly hostess...and one cook. On a backstreet away from the busy front promenade - it reminded me so much of a village in France. The menu is limited and my wife found the salmon pasta (I forget the name of the dish) to be the best pasta she has ever had. Basically it is all made to order home cooking of the best kind. The meal was so good that I decided to book again for a few days later only to be told that they were booked up! I could have cried. So - next year we'll make a bee-line for Bracewells and make two bookings in advance and have a quality Jersey gin and tonic as a starter drink.More
