Thank you for accommodating us with two speedy main courses to enable us to enjoy the culinary delights of the Boat House. Your thoughtfulness in ensuring the meals were prepared asap was greatly appreciated allowing us to get to the airport on time for our flight. Fabulous service -thanks to Boris

The restaurant does sharing platters for 1 - 5 people. We decided to have 2 different for 1 person, antipasta and seafood. The portions were very big, thought they had made a mistake and given us a two person sharer but no.Great service and great value for money. The bar area is good for just a drink with a very good selection of beers and gins. Will go back.

Visited yesterday for a lunch with my family of 4 and the food and service was amazing. Although we only had a socially distanced 90 minutes slot the service was great and food arrived quickly and superior quality. The staff are a real asset and thanks to Sebastian, Monika & Ross for making it a memorable visit. Well done and highly recommend the restaurant with lovely outdoor seating area. Thank you.

We arrived at 8am yesterday and after having our Covid-19 tests at the airport, we were ensuring that we only ate alfresco to minimise contact with others whilst we waited for our results. Unfortunately, finding somewhere to eat last night proved tricky given the lovely weather and after driving up to and back from the west coast trying to find someone, we tried the Boat House, where we have eaten and had drinks at before, and had previously enjoyed. I explained our predicament to a waitress and she seemed sympathetic - looking behind her at two empty outside tables - and advised me to speak to the manager and explain the same to him. The manager in question was rude, dismissive and wouldn’t look at me directly, barely giving me a chance to explain and was more interested in speaking to the couple behind me. We’ve now received our negative results and certainly won’t be returning here during our visit or future ones. Good manners don’t cost a penny.

Four of us went for dinner some 10 days ago. We were booked in for 19.00 and had to be out by 21.15. We sat down a little late as the table wasn’t ready for us. About 15 minutes after we sat down we ordered drinks and our food. The starter and the wine arrived at the same time. Soup for one and scallops for three. Both starters were good although the bread we had ordered didn’t arrive until after we had eaten the starter. This is where things began to unwind.
Over the next 90 minutes, despite our best efforts, our main course never arrived. The first excuse was that they were short staffed and they had a large party upstairs. This was patiently untrue as we had seen other tables, so had arrived after us, receive their food. We were given a second bottle of wine, on the house, but the food still didn’t arrive. Finally we gave up and asked for the bill. The time was now after 21.00 and we didn’t want to eat what we had wanted to eat nearly two hours earlier. We went home and my wife prepared an excellent mushroom pasta dish in about 15 minutes.
We weren’t charged anything for the ‘meal’ at the restaurant.
No I won’t be going back in a hurry.....

My wife and I visited the restaurant mid week a week ago.
We decided on a main course with dessert but ended up just having the main course as we didn't have much faith on what we might get for dessert after a disappointing main course.
My wife had the Katsu Curry which was stodgy and tasteless with far too much chicken in proportion to the rest of the dish. I had the fish pie. The vegetables on the side were overly salty. The potato topping for the pie had some cheese with it so I had to use a knife to cut through the elastic topping. Underneath there was a reasonable amount of seafood but the sauce was very thin and should have been considerably more creamy.
Both my wife and I only ate half of our meals and relayed our comments to the waiter to pass back to the kitchen.
The service was good, shame about the food and if they cannot get that right mid week with only about 3-4 tables full what hope is there for the weekend.

The whole experience was really quite poor, this is a shame as I have eaten downstairs recently which was far better. Instead of just complaining I thought I would give some feedback for then to perhaps consider making improvements - but they ignored my email.
Note that I would have complained on the evening but the below issues had already tempered the evening so I didn’t want to further spoil it by complaining. Nonetheless I felt that the feedback should be passed on.
Every time we wanted to order anything we had to wave down staff, most of the time we were told they would send someone else.
Our dessert took over 45 minutes to arrive.
The quality of the food was terrible, I had a steak which I could not eat as it was so tough and poor. The chips were under cooked and hard. My sisters dinner had to be sent back as it was cold on arrival. The crab linguine was served with noodles - not linguine. The prawns were not nice and were mushy, I assume this is because they had been previously frozen.
The meal (with no starters and three of six people not drinking) cost £50 each so as you can imagine we were naturally disappointed.
For all the restaurants in Jersey I would have a drink here but swerve the upstairs restaurant.

I chose this restaurant/bar for a Christmas Eve lunch for a family of 11 as there seemed to be a good choice on the menu and, of course, the wonderful location. I had left things rather late so was grateful that they had space for so many and was worried that things might not live up to my high expectations.
I must admit that I need not have worried as both the food and the service were first rate despite the place being very busy indeed. The manager could not do enough to make the meal a real occasion, nothing was too much trouble.

Food was tasty, I had the pork salad with chilli and peanut sauces. Husband had fish and chips. Although both dishes very tasty, the portion size of chips with the fish was on the small side.
Service was not great. Bit of a rude welcome. We're not shown a wine list. After we had our main course, we sat there for 30 minutes waiting for the dessert menu or even a refill of drinks. It was not busy and the service just felt disorganised and we were completely ignored. Chased a waiter down for the dessert menu and by the time they came to take any orders we had completely given up.

We were unable to secure an evening dining booking during our stay on Jersey, instead we had to settle for a late lunch/early dinner.
I guess that highlights the restaurant's popularity, that it had no availability for evening bookings.
The restaurant's main appeal is it's location, sitting within the harbour of St Aubin. It is a genuinely lovely setting for a meal or just drinks.
We opted for the local sea bass and crab dish and battered cod.
The sea bass was excellent while the battered cod was nice without being exceptional.
The Boathouse is fairly priced with good food and is potentially a spectacular evening dining venue due to it's setting.

We celebrated out 26th wedding anniversary on the same day as Father's day last weekend and really enjoyed an al fresco lunch. The scallops, Jersey royals and rocket & parmesan salad were perfect for me and my husband enjoyed a succulent sirloin with chips. The staff were, as always, so accommodating despite having to put up with plastic gloves and face masks - they smiled throughout. This might well become a weekly treat!

We loved this place. First of all, the setting on the harbour was gorgeous and very scenic. We found the pricing of food and drink to be very good value for money given the beautiful setting. What’s more, we were so impressed with the service of all members of staff - we either drank or ate here each day we spent in jersey.
The food was really tasty too - veggie friendly, fresh and flavoursome.

We came here for a meal just before the end of our holiday. The food was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed that, however, the staff could have been more attentive as we found ourselves having to get their attention to take our order after we had sat for a little while. Apart from that, it was a good experience. i would also say the kids menu was a little limited.

Went last Saturday evening and will not be going back. We have been a few times recently including a large birthday event last year which was very good. Unfortunately not the same staff and we were left abandoned after our deserts, with the staff more interested in noisily rearranging tables etc than looking after us. Portions seem smaller and all in all not a good experience for £100 per head.

Very unwelcoming staff who really couldn't be bothered to serve morning coffee at 10.45am.
Despite being almost empty we were shoved into a corner and then asked to reorder at the bar where we had been waiting and already given our very simple order.
Not impressed.

Hello Ali B,
I was very sorry to read about your recent visit to the Boathouse and would like to apologise for any confusion when you arrived. I have already spoken to the staff on shift at the time of your visit and reviewed your comments with them. We impress on all of our staff the importance of a big smile and a warm welcome for every customer and have obviously fallen short on this occasion. We hope you will find it in your heart to visit again and allow us to show you a proper Boathouse welcome.
Kind regards.
The Management.
