Set in the heart of St. Aubin's harbour and run by Damon and Natalie Duffy this very busy local restaurant is a must when visiting Jersey. Loved by the locals and attracting a well-traveled discerning following reservations are a must. The ambiance is modern, stylish yet informal, the food is a splendid example of supreme quality local "Genuine Jersey" produce on an eclectic and extensive menu selection.
The restaurant offered really friendly service from the moment we arrived, we had the starter of the sharing platter which was really good and both mains to the same standard. We would certainly book again.
Great place. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening here. From the moment we arrived we were extremely well looked after. Comprehensive menu, excellent food, great ambience. Everything you could ask for. Would definitely definitely return if returning to Jersey. Highly recommended
Lovely setting and obviously a very popular place however, a few teething problems stopped this from being a top dining experience. The host was not particularly personable, not that welcoming on arrival and gave the overall impression of being busy and therefore did not have...the time to make us feel valued as a customer. The wrong wine was brought to us twice, apparently the one we selected was not available but instead of being told this we were just presented with a different wine. When I received my main course I had to point out that it was missing a key component- the lobster. Before my husband could say anything his meal was whisked away from him which although this was reasonable as this was so it could be kept warm, the manner it which it was done was very abrupt. No real apology was offered at this point about the lack of lobster although later the host did attempt this by blaming the chef - not very professional. Also interesting that my husband’s dish had a sticker/ post-it note attached to it when it arrived, I would expect this to be removed before being presented at the table. Finally on receipt of the bill the wrong wine had been charged ( a more expensive one), it felt like too much effort to have this amended. Such a shame as the food was very good and the younger staff were working really hard and were polite and friendly.More
We have visited twice recently. A good varied menu that suits all. Customer service always first class. Doughnuts and cheesecake are popular with the family.. I am hoping the will introduce a vegan version of the mushroom stroganoff and at least one refined sugar free...dessert option soon...More
Arrived a bit early but were welcomed in. Given lots of advice on the food and had a very good meal of scallops and a curry. My wife’s tofu was rather over-battered and the meunière sauce on the sole was a bit gooey. But overall...pretty good and the service from a wonderful lady from Sunderland was perfect.More
I moved to Jersey in 1997 and the Salty Dog opened 20 years ago, I am told. I am far from a regular but I have eaten there over that 20 year period I guess about 50 times. I have been there for business meals,...with friends over from the UK, and with friends from Jersey. I dropped in tonight with a friend and am writing this review because the standards of this restaurant are just so consistent. I can't think of anywhere else apart from maybe the Capannina where you can turn up two years after your last visit and know that the service, food, and standards are so utterly consistent. The food and therefore the chefs are first rate, and I have never seen a better front of house team. 100%More
We had a fabulous gormetfest (three courses for £25) here as part of a mid-week celebration. Service was amazing from start to finish. Food was incredible with us each choosing different dishes for each course. Lovely cocktails and a wonderful atmosphere. I would highly recommend...and will be visiting again soon.More
We discovered this by accident on a recent trip to Jersey and had a late lunch.
We were so impressed we booked for dinner a few days later. We weren't disappointed - there was absolute consistency in the standard of fare. We discovered the identity...of the chef, Paul Fletcher, (hope I've remembered that correctly), and we've decided he's our favourite chef on the whole island. We ate out nearly every evening for the 2 weeks that we were there, but these 2 meals were stand out gorgeous. The front of house staff were very professional and, even when very busy, took time to chat to the diners and engage with them.
The customers were a range of ages which made the atmosphere very convivial, and the dress code was whatever you like but no wet clothing!! We absolutely loved the whole experience(s).More
