We took our children (10, 14) here for dinner on a Sunday evening. We were met with a warm and ebullient welcome, and the menu was absolutely delicious.

I visited "The Hungry Monk" during last month (September 2016). It was very disappointing to say the least. There were 6 of us in total and my niece had booked our table the day previously. When we arrived we were kept waiting in the hallway while they tried to find our booking, to no avail. Eventually, they managed to seat... More

Weekday dinner in restaurant, very good, friendly service and excellent, simple menu in terms of not being overpowered by choice. Food extremely well prepared, care clearly taken in taste, flavours and preparation. Excellent pork and fillet steak (not served together!) Interesting decoration throughout and sports memorabilia in the entrance hall. Enjoyed the Gregorian chants too!

We decided we were due a visit as it had been a number of months since we last visited, as always excellent staff, cleanliness perfect temperature wine, which made it very drinkable!! I had a blue to rare fillet... just faultless !! Exactly as it should be! My wife was perfectly satisfied with her golden crispy fish n chips! Well... More

Visited one evening while staying locally with friends. Chose because of recent Trip Advisor reviews and it really did not disappoint. Would always advise you book as although it was a Monday evening they were very busy. The lovely lady who greeted us showed us to a nice table in a corner and immediately gave us some water to drink... More

Great food, great service. We went in early on a Saturday night and they were more than happy to accommodate us. Staff were very friend. Food was excellent. Linguine was a first...delicious and very filling although a little messy! Had the house wine which was quite good for the price. Mixed crowd (families, couples etc) at the time but we... More

We were a party of 2 couples dining on a saturday night. Restaurant was busy, but not uncomfortably so. My husband couldnt decide on starter, and asked Maitre D which of 2 starters he would recommend. Was very happy with the recommendation - but when he had finished, they came out with a small portion of the other one, -... More

Lobster linguine with parmesan liberally sprinkled on top. Hopeless. I don't remember food being this terrible in the 1980s which is probably the last time this place updated its menu. Avoid.
