The Dalkey Duck is a nice place and we probably made a mistake going into the bar for a drink. It was empty except for a few locals who were loud and drunk. Pity!

Please find somewhere else to have some food, this is just awful, the staff try to be friendly, but they are seriously undertrained and look unhappy to be there in general, not their fault, but rather the management's. The "Fish and chips" was announced as...monkfish and king prawns, but then it was just a charred, stale filet of cod not suitable for eating. After asking the waitress to confirm it was indeed monkfish, for €24, she asked in the kitchen and she said it was not monkfish, only cod, and that "they will do it for 18 euro". Not the type of bargaining you want to be doing, honestly. Awful. But I really have the feeling this is the responsibility of the management, not of the apparently unmotivated, dull, "get me out of here" bar staff. To be avoided.More

Excellent food, dog friendly and they had great gluten free options. The chicken wings and burger with chips were my gluten free choices. Our dog was soo happy and relaxed by the fire and the staff made a fuss of him.

We are an elderly couple who were looking forward to our visit to Dalkey. We chose to visit on Saturday 07th Oct. Dalkey village was busy and alot of people sitting outside cafes. A nice buzz. We entered the Dalkey Duck and unfortunately it's was...very dreary and no atmosphere. We proceeded to have lunch, both myself and my husband had fish and chips. The chips were just ok, the "cod" fish was awful. It was bland and soggy. I am from Dalkey but live in North Dublin. I was planning and hoping for a nice lunch and welcoming atmosphere on my return to Dalkey. Unfortunately the Duck does not provide this in our opinion. There are many other better options in Dalkey. Choose them.More

A really casual, but atmospheric bar in dalkey, food is great and pints you can’t go wrong with. But the special thing about the dalkey duck is the beer garden. This is so special and it’s really something you don’t see often in the Dublin...area. I’ll be backMore

Taking a break on Saturday, trying to have a cool beer and a burger. At the beginning, nothing was going wrong, but when I check the bill and found the cost for a pint of Guinness charges for 6 euro but not 5.5 euro that...shown on the drink menu. When I ask for the reason, the server said the price change due to inflation. And also a just a minor issue. They will not amend it as they do not know when will the inflation stop. It is not a 0.5 matter, it is misleading, what if it price raises to 10 euro, will they still not inform the customer? So, beware the price, better ask the server the actual price when you order and mark it down.More

Incredibly friendly staff - I, the boyfriend and the pooch all made to feel very welcome. Food arrived briskly and all good fare. Not a big menu but good for all that. Large enough inside but, even better, a very big outside space out back.

Visited The Dalkey Duck for lunch today. The friendly waiter showed us to our window table beside the open fire. Very impressive extensive lunch menu catering for all tastes. Our main courses of Lamb Shank and a Chicken Burger were superbly cooked, well presented and...our empty plates after lunch spoke for the quality of the food! It was our first time to dine in The Dalkey Duck and we look forward to our return visits. A great experience and we highly recommend a visit to The Dalkey Duck.More

I have spent many great nights here over the years since it opened but that all changed during a recent visit for pre dinner drinks. We first met a barman who pointed further in and then we met a waitress who told us to ‘find...somewhere if we could, it’s very busy’. Half the tables were empty so we sat down, The same waitress then told us that the table was reserved despite there not being any sign to that effect. We decided to leave at this stage as it was apparent that they had no interest in serving us. Staff attitudes were appalling. We headed to the Queens, were met with a smile and shown to our tables where we were promptly served our drinks. Too bad Dalkey Duck, don’t think I’ll be going again any time soon.More

The decor is nice and cozy, but the food offer is poor (2 deserts out of 3 not available , no alternative to cow milk, no whipped cream, dirty milk came with the tea) and the service is awful. Entered bar and was told by barman to go through and take a table. Waitress ultra rude when we sat at an empty table. We were told all tables booked . No discussion about where to get a drink in the bar. No reserved notice...on tables. Poor communication all round. It felt like they did not want our business. No atmosphere and very few people in the place. Unsurprising!!! Won't be back and would recommend The Queens where we were greeted at the door offered a choice of seating and staff were attentive. Informative and polite. Great atmosphere as well 😃More

By far the worst restaurant experience in Dublin in a long time. We arrived at 8pm with 2 kids and immediately put in an order of some chips as they were hungry. Kids served at 9:30 after reminding about 7 times. Food was just very...poor. All food was way over salted (I like salt), Duck was hard and inedible, fish and chips poor and in general the place was haphazard and waitresses seemed to be embarrassed that they could not serve the food in any kind of timely manner. The website makes the place look like a bistro with fine dining - truth is more like cheap pub food and lacking managment.More

The drinks and the food were really good, the manager is totally committed to give you an enjoyable experience. The beer garden give a perfect space for celebrating parties, or special gathering with friends, dog friendly too! and it's gorgeous. thanks Eoin!
